Is it bad to say Jamie does her best work as a pit reporter? She just seems out of place in the booth.

People want authenticity. They want people who are genuinely interested in the sport, genuinely knowledgeable and can speak English at atleast a 7th grade level.

if you have to study to know the sport and riders and the lingo you aren’t the guy. If you have to study to know that preperate ain’t a word, you’re not the guy. If you think blessing of the skies is a good thing to say, you aren’t the guy. If you have to act excited and add fake emotion and fake laughs where they don’t belong, guess what?

Now before you throw out this entire premise with the Jeff emig speech impediment situation. He busted his ass and made it a non issue. He also had all the other boxes checked and his vocabulary is 170,000x what Ricky’s is.

Jeff is also authentic and has the charisma and confidence to be himself.

People who bitch about announcing aren't true fans of the sport.

Turns out that article was written by Travis Ankrum, Tyler’s brother. People will bitch and moan about anything and everything if it doesn’t suit their agenda.

Or, it’s not that they aren’t true fans, maybe it’s that the fans want better for the sport and know that the broadcast could be improved by firing and moving around and hiring some people.

Yep. I follow Dirt car racing pretty closely and NASCAR to an extent, and sometimes I have to check what comment section I’m in when people are bitching about the TV package because it’s the same copy and paste complaints across all three fanbases.

Broadcast booth trade proposal --

FOX Sports/NASCAR Trucks get:

Exciting Ricky Carmichael ("It's Mayhem, Leigh!"), who is one of the most famous NASCAR Truck series drivers ever (2009 Most Popular Driver Award Winner).

NBC Sports/SMX get:
Bland, lackluster, Jamie Little ("They're out. He hangs on")

For those of you that haven’t seen plowboy’s avatar pic, you’re missing out.

100% people have always bitched about the broadcast. Heck they even bitched about Georgia and she did about as perfect of a job you can do.
Maybe Jim Holley is the only one that hasn't gotten much hate.

It's ok to bitch about it if it truly sucks.. F1 and Motogp have top class broadcasting, so why can't we?

That website and it’s journalistic integrity should be heavily questioned. That entire site seems to be obsessed with female personalities.

Seems to me that a lot of people bitch because they care and think the sport deserves better. I don't bitch about the announcing in cricket because I don't give a shit about cricket. I don't bitch about the announcing in hockey because it's good. I bitch about the announcing in supercross because I like supercross and would like the announcing to be competent.

Without meaning to offend the Americans, American broadcasts are the issue. Way too dramatized and the networks seem to want more drama than there really is. Consider F1 - most of the drivers are friendly with each other, fly on the same planes together, hang out together, grew up together, yet Netflix is making it way more hyped than it actually is. Some of the broadcasts do the same.

Aside from that, the other key issue of the broadcasts add nothing to the race watching experience. I often notice things before the announcers do... and I'm not rally paying that much attention. And then the general professionalism of the teams vary a lot. I would say the best broadcasts are the simpler ones... MTB, Rally, F1, MotoGP. MotoGP is probably my favourite, especially BTSport's version a few years back (felt like a podcast watching the race).

The only thing worse than American broadcasts is Australian ones.... and that's coming from an Australian! Our commentators call the obvious as well.

Give me Lisa Leyland how the Gp's are broadcast anyday, She does pit reporting and podium interviews. She is not long winded about what she read last week Or how she was talking to the truck driver about someones injury, Stick to the basics and let the guy that raced supercross talk about track conditions down on the floor.

I agree including the quality of the Australian commentary, except at least they call the actual race as it’s happening. That’s my biggest bitch about AMA; forget your preconceived storylines and call the race! At the end of the day, there’s no way to please everyone as far as personalities go though.

In the old days, when the Chicago Bulls were kings, I used to watch the NBA. I was not a mega-fan, just a Jordan Bulls fan. When Jordan quit I quit.

I only watched the games on NBC with Marv Albert. That was great a production IMO.

Well RC and Duh-fey haven’t been accused of sexual assault so I guess there’s that.

Jamie is best as a pit reporter. She’s in the booth for representation. Terrible flow, gets names/facts mixed up. The only time she had a reprieve was when Carson Hocevar was on the truck practice/qualifying and was the guest color commentator. Kid would not shut up. Talked constantly.

I liked the Erin Bates and Jamie Little days. Haley Shanley would be a great upgrade these days.

I remember the good old days when I would snap a few out to Jamie Little’s smoking hot ass in Maxim Magazine. Back then, when men were men, we didn’t pay much attention to the words hot women said. We just paid attention to their tits and ass.

You modern day “men” are weak and sad.

Bring Jamie back to SMX, or anyone but what we have.
