We almost all have done shit like this. The difference is we weren’t employed at his level or in the spotlight. I say that because the only way I see this being a problem is if sponsors don’t want to be aligned with that behavior. Otherwise, I think it ends up making him more popular.

This is absolutely true. Traffic court, regardless if it's an infraction like speeding or a more significant moving violation "misdemeanor" like his charge, is ENTIRELY up to the judge.
Either way this isn't going to be a huge deal, but it could mean the difference between a point and traffic school, or a suspended license.
