Desmo valves wont be any more difficult to adjust, a little different as you are shimming on two sides but it will be negligible.
The high cost Desmo reputation is more from the replacing of the timing belts on some of the street bikes as they aren't super cheap along with the service to do them.

Huh? Billet cases? no way, that'd be way to expensive. The only thing you said that I see it coming with stock is a good wheel set. Duc is the king of over priced add-ons.

As I've written many times, the Modern Desmo is Not an Old Bevel or Single Desmo, with regards to upkeep / maintenance. I've dealt with Desmo engines now for quite a few decades.
They , nowadays, have quite elongated ( unintentional Pun) Valve inspection intervals, and, very, very rarely need adjustment.
The other thoughts about the CNC'd cases etc - possibly, but, I doubt it. We are looking at Works Bikes, Development bikes. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have cast casing etc, but, you never know, to get the first batch homologated for US racing, they may well get 'fancy'.
We've got coming, very soon, a 'new' to MX / Off Road manufacturer, and , the recent addition of Triumph for ownership choice.
I think it's all bloody marvelous.

After racing moto for 26yrs I bought a 1098S for fun and track days.
Never had any issues for 5 yrs and only significant expense was new timing belts at $1800 Aud.
Thing was sick with Ohlins and termi exhaust.
Ducati won Motogp, WSBK in the last few weekends.

The TLD show bike I saw at San Diego SX still looked very prototype-y: billet parts that should be cast/forged in production, some 3D printed bits, excess brackets, etc. It will be interesting to see what the actual production bike comes with.

complain all you want about the price. but I sell motorcycles for a massive Ducati store on the east coast. been getting calls all week about people looking into purchasing them.
I'm pretty sure in one of the videos, at the time, Troy - or someone else - said the bike was a well used / abused test bike, and they had to "gussey it up a bit", or something like that, to make it presentable.
To the 250 debut this weekend - Only Lupino ( there's Nothing wrong about Lupino) - No AC or other Duke 250 out there, whereas they had the 2 450s out in public, last year. Hopefully, we see Antonio out there sometime - he's still blazingly fast on the smaller bikes.
Looking at some of the things that Duc has done with other models over these recent years and how quickly this program has evolved…
I can see things like billet side-cases and covers as a possibility. Center cases? Not likely, but…that does enable them to make them “NOW” and then utilizing castings as they become available.
As for things like “real” billet triples and who currently offers such things…I’ll leave that to the Doctor of Materials & F.E.A. at the marvelous company known as…Luxon! 👍🏼
Based on pricing and the impression that Ducati seemingly wants to make…I’m also guessing that they will go in the direction of the Pingale and offer an R or SP that’s got some very nice goodies on it.
That’s what I’m hoping they’re doing with their launch model. That would explain the price at this point. As others have said, the British price translates to $14,400 U.S. That should be for a really nicely equipped version…

Dirtbikes are usually cheaper in the US (MSRP) than in Europe so it's more interesting to look at retail price in the same country.

But the prices are lower in the US.
A 450SX-F lists at £10,999 ($14,200), so the Duck is very similarly priced to a standard KTM, and well below a factory edition.
I guess we will see when they hit the market.
