For the topic on hand, I liked WW ranch a lot too. I can only imagine how brutal that heat and humidity is there though.

IMO, he got it pretty easy on that one, overall. Considering the nature of the situation, I can't imagine how he wouldn't expect to get absolutely eviscerated. All-in-all the MX community is unusually forgiving.

Can you imagine the fan reaction in most televised sports, if the following happened:
The sport's management took the sport off known cable/streaming television, and launched their own expensive paid subscription service with promises of huge improvements over traditional networks.

Then, at go-time, it flat out didn't work.

After multiple weeks of damage control attempting to convince angered fans on online forums that it was working (it wasn't), fans were then asked to purchase a separate subscription from another nearly-as-dodgy provider under promise of refund of original payment. Then those refunds often didn't come, and, in fact, many fans were billed for months of the non-functional service and reported difficulty in canceling.

If this was a stick-and-ball sport (or if online sports betting had the ubiquitous presence just 3 years ago that it does now), it wouldn't be just some boorish online behavior to deal with, dude would be shopping a bunker to enjoy the rest of his days.

AC without the hand injury, Zacho with a beast mode type charge, Sexton in a neck brace and weighing about 20lbs less, the weird covid podium interviews and damn I bet it sucked wearing masks in that heat working on bikes.

tht whole season I was like yeaaaa AC boutta be the 1 tht got the raw speed to keep up with Eli & them for yrs to come , him & chase and then yeaaaas the problem with the wrist , also wasent this the last season we saw baggett outdoors if im not mistaken 🤔

It's FK'D that we don't have a National in the Southeast.

While we're on the topic, bring back the Atlanta Supercross in Mercedes Stadium!

The harsh reality is if his name wasn't on the building (metaphorically) he most likely would have been whacked. In big business when there is a boondoggle that big someone usually pays with their job.

I think what I mentioned was that moto crowd is pretty forgiving and has let that go, whereas fans of every other sport would have had DC’s hide.

If you want a fun WW ranch race to watch go back and watch the MXGP race they had there where the US guys showed up. You had Tomac winning the first 450 main and Herlings winning the second, and RJ hampshire went 1-1 on 250s.

I went to that GP. Not great visibility as a fan but the racing was really good. It was hot but the rain prior to the event made the fan areas and parking a flooded mess.

When I drove in to the parking area it was so slick I was afraid to stop. I guy stopped in front of me and when I went to get going I just spun. I ended up just leaving it there in the middle of two rows. When I went back after the race I still couldn't get it out. I tracked down a guy there that had a tractor and he came and pulled me out as it was down to the axil. I wasn't the only one that got stuck.

DC got way more shit then he deserved here in my opinion. He’s done more for the professional and professional amateur side of the sport then arguably almost anyone. People criticize him because they think he wipes his ass with $100 bills and sleeps on a bed with a frame made of gold coins. Has he made money off racing, yep, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. If he wasn’t good at it someone would come along and do it better. I’ll take him of luongo any day of the week.

If you look at it objectively, it was either do the mav deal or don’t have any races shown live. What’s the worse scenario?

If he ended up in a place where the only choice was a deal with a provider who couldn't meet his needs (so races weren't watchable live), or alternatively to not have any races shown live, in this day and age of content overload through countless streaming avenues, that shows a serious lack of long-term strategic planning and preparation.

And furthermore, that still doesn't explain all the crazy unmet promises, and the disappearance on paying customers after refunds and transfer of service to the new services were promised.

All good points. I’ll be honest I don’t remember all the issues. I know for maybe 3 weeks I had trouble watching live and it got better from there. The subscription and canceling stuff on floTV I can’t really hold against him as he’s not in charge over there.  If memory serves me, they do have a stake or ownership of mavTV though?

I dunno ultimately I think it’s shitty people drove him out of here. It would be better for us as a community if he were still active. Clearly it was a lesson to be learned from for him as the package he (mxsports) and Feld have put together is maybe the best ever as far as coverage (commentating and all that non sense aside). It’s easier to watch races live or stream afterwards then it’s ever been before.

The only real solution to getting southern rounds is bringing back the "Orphan National" again. With Feld and MX Sports working together the chances are probably better than they have been in a while. I for one wouldn't mind the Daytona Supercross the first weekend of Bike Week and the WW Ranch National on the closing weekend. Helluva busy 8 days for dirt bikes. Saturday SX, Sunday GNCC, Thursday Alligator Enduro and then Saturday National at WW Ranch. Sign me up, I'm in!!!

Wonder if they ever thought of running it in March... 🤔

Right?  Raced really well, allowed the riders to get creative too.  Too bad it was gone so soon

Anstie going over the divider on the split lane S turn to make it an inside line to inside line was genius.

I don't think the ranch has an interest. I believe word was they asked to be left off the national schedule after the last one they had. I think they gave reasons.

I went for the year of covid and that was one of the if not the only race I was glad I didnt qualify for. I remember how brutal it already was by the end of the LCQ let alone needing to do 2 30+2 lap motos. Is this or one of the years Chase Sexton had to pull out of moto 2 for possible heat stroke after winning moto1? Love the track. Glad to see it off the national list

Remember Gainesville? The National  was always in March right in the middle of SX season. Riders and teams had to have an ootdoor setup 2 months early. Gatorback was very unique setup, lots of square clay chop. And if it rained it was as slick as snot. Everyone complained about it's time in the schedule.

I believe that Coombs is a good human with a passion for moto.

I was referring to the 2019 season. Zacho went 4-2 or something like that with an amazing charge. I thought I was looking at the champ, but if I recall correctly the next week he went out injured at Red Bud.

I agree. There's some good tracks, like Monster Mountain, but don't think the infrastructure could support a National.

Give me Glen Helen before WW. I think WW is rad but it’s not a national caliber race track. When I think national caliber race track I want beautiful natural terrain style track with lots of elevation change. WW just isn’t that.
