The show was great, as usual. The show was specifically used to launch a new product from a major, long-time sponsor (Renthal) which speaks volumes for the respect and reach the show has in this industry. The discussions were great about the history of the sport, rider specifics, great stories from Mitch, Jeremy and Skip, and I love the technical stuff they got into.
Steve can rub folks the wrong way at times, me included, but I'll defend him and the show all day long as the best podcast in the moto community. Thankful that he puts out everything he does, and let's hear back from folks in two weeks after there is no show / content from the Holiday break. I've definitely had to search for new content over the past week or two!
I really enjoyed this show! One of the few I listened to start to finish. Steve stated in the beginning that it was going to be a very Renthal centric show. The interviews with Mitch P and McGrath were excellent. Paul P and Skip N were great additions and Keefer was excellent with the tech discussions. Just seemed to have a great dynamic throughout the show.
If you like the Mandarin you'll love Gypsy Tales. He talks over some really great guests too!

They wouldn't like his Spanish accent...
I've always been surprised that his advertisers are fine with the way he lumps his ads into huge breaks that run for like 10-15 minutes. It's so easy to skip them when you are listening to the podcast version. Maybe there are a lot of people who listen live, so have to listen to all the ads?
Seems to me he has a pretty big rotation of guest hosts who do the show with him. Sure, he has a few who are regulars, but I would venture to guess that he has had over 30 different people who have come to guest host, in person, over the past year.
Matthes: "Fair warning, we're gonna talk about Renthal a lot this show. Prepare yourselves."
Vitards: "Matthes is a piece of shit, all he did the last show was talk about Renthal."
🤦♂️
I appreciate the caller who asked which coast would have the best titties; and the pulp guests thoughtful responses.
"$30 dollar grips is the everyman's grip" lolol
I rarely listen live and just skip all the ads. I think Steve does a great job. I listen to pretty much everything. Gypsy has good content but seems like he thinks he's a lot cooler then he is, he could maybe tone down the cool guy stuff. I appreciate how humble Dark is. He's a fan like the rest of us and seems happy to be where he's at through hard work. I like Swap's stuff he's been around forever has a great crew and I enjoy his lifestyle stuff. Will be interesting to see how Kellen fits in there instead of Anton. I'm a big fan of Blair but just refuse to pay for pods when there's already so much free stuff.
To be fair, you can get longer life out of lock ons by rotating the left grip a few degrees for fresh surface area after you wear out your thumb and palm spots.
Although I don't always agree with Matthes on some things I still listen to the show sometimes, especially if Mitch, DV, or Mcgrath are on. What really aggravates me though is not being able to get a PulpMX sticker for my toolbox!!😏
If I look at the forum, we are currently at two threads on Eli Tomac's instagram comments. So yeah, it's slow. I'm happy there is content in the down times between race seasons.
They had Jeremy and Mitch on, and it's free. If you don't want to hear content that is paid for, support a podcast on Patreon.
I actually found a lot of the Renthal content interesting.
Excited to get some of those lock-ons.
How is that statement wrong?
They are a whole $1 more than ODI grips which it sure seems like 90% of people are running these days.
Almost like you can’t FF through the commercials and ad reads….
Do people really struggle that much putting on grips? Just seems like a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
Pit Row
No complaints, just opinions.
Ever bend your handlebars in practice or a moto and have to swap them out? Lock ons have saved me from missing motos and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Paul P cheats on Strava
me.
Air compressor from the opposite side to inflate the grip a wee bit to slide it over a super glued bar. Just not too much pressure or it pops like a balloon
Do you get up to change channels on your tv or use a remote?
This.
So far we have this, the google maps of an SX track thread and THE GUY WITH THE STUCK CAPS LOCK KEY.
Have I missed any?
Gold!
That's why Steve gets paid the big bucks, his listeners have the ad copy of some random mortgage broker memorized, doesn't even matter if you skip the commercial breaks.
I recently started listening to pulp, I have to drive more for work now so it’s a no brainer, and I’m enjoying it quite a bit
But this last episode you can’t skip through the ads, because the entire show is an ad. Every second of the show has been about Renthal.
It’s kind of like when your favorite tv show does a clips episode, you understand why they did, but you will never go back and watch it again, or tell your friends they have to check out this episode
