It may look very similar to the current Varg (MX), but they've made a bunch of intricate changes that are going to make this bike a hoot to ride offroad. Some of the most fun i've had on a dirtbike was on a Alta EXR i owned for about 2 years, even as a motocross guy. Being able to holligan around town legally and hop into trails is a blast. I'm most likely going to order one of these.
Some notable updates:
- Ability to adjust power and engine braking curves. This will likely be made available to current MX owners, as well. Exciting!
- 7.2kWh battery, 20% more than the Varg MX. Wondering if they went with Molicel P50B cells to achieve this.
- Optional titanium parts to shave 2 pounds off the bike. trick
- The blinkers are made from the same silicon used in "modern dildos" (as per Anton). 🤣
- So many bike configuration options, including choice of tire, choice of tube or moose, suspension, etc.
- A kick stand that actually works.
- Softer, more flexible chassis for offroad comfort.
- New cellphone, mount, and an application update with turn-by-turn offroad GPS functionality. Sick.
Kudos for Stark to continuing to add to their product line and to fight through regulatory costs for street legalization. But even bigger kudos for not being too corporate and keeping some fun in their marketing!
Looks sweet, I don't think many people especially in US will have much practical need for a street legal version besides just having fun on the street but maybe some places on the west coast have some trail networks that can be linked together with some roads that still is close enough the range isnt an issue.
Those turn signals certainly will not fly in the US, hopefully they can still sell with that trick headlight turn signal combo and just has to be connected after removing the big stock regulation turn signals.
Something I struggle to understand, do the Stark bikes have model years? Best I can tell with the MX version, it is just a Stark, not a 2024 model, not a 2023 model. I realize you can use the year you bought it, but it makes for a funky sale, new and used, without a model year.
I really want time on an electric MX bike before I hang up the boots, but my time is going fast, I didn't want a Stark for various reasons, but the other OEMs are going too slow for my timeline which has me tire kicking Stark. With the new battery in this enduro model, it makes me think there is another revision coming to the MX bike with improvements from the previous model (perhaps why they are on sale?), but without calling it a 2024, a "new 2025 coming" or something, it makes buying one of these feel odd. Sure I could buy one while they are on sale, but if a newer model is coming, hopefully 20 lbs. lighter, better battery, etc., it would seem wise to wait for the next one, which I have no idea if that is even coming. LOL
Forgive me if im wrong but stark are claiming 20% more battery capacity than the mx version. 6.5kw to 7.2kw is just a smidge over 10%, or am I missing something?
From the guys I've talked to if you can stand to race it in 30ish horsepower mode they could get about 2.5 hours out of it.
At 3.20 - 3.24 in they put up 2 graphs that give times.
Though, there's no reference to how that relates to the power settings used. So, it Is pretty vague.
For me, riding my mates ones in our local terrain, away from civilization, so to speak, I've got a full, 8 hour day on a Varg - but that's in tight, extreme terrain, with a hell of a lot of time taken doing trail maintenance and building. It's what I mostly do.
I assume for A1 and other power determined Licensing, the power settings Must be locked. Just as ICE bikes have to be.
I'm fascinated by how people (and I don't just mean what Anton says in the video ) comment on E bikes being able to be used everywhere. Many seem to imply that E bikes, in some Countries / States, don't need to be Rego'd / Plated. If so, that's pretty bloody incredible / lucky for those that Don't need Plates, because it's an E bike.
In OZ, they are 'Vehicles', and that's exactly what they would be treated as - get caught on the Road / Where you Have to have Rego / a Plate, well, you are in deep, Deep s**t. Heck, a little tacker on a YZinger / Little E bike, could get nailed riding in a local park, unless the Cops are prepared to turn a blind eye / give a warning. It's why I've Always had a Registered / Plated bike, so I can use my bike from home. Cripes, I keep Mirrors and Blinkers and all Lights working on my CRE, at All Times, to keep the Cops off my back.
I think for a road legal bike they need to consider some way to use existing electric vehicle charging infrastructure too. It does not look like they did in this case but they should. If you get yourself in charge trouble away from home it shoudnt be a tow problem.
1000€ the software unlock to go from 60 to 80hp !! what a piece of shit of a company
I’m guessing you’re not familiar with all the other bike brands that charge big money to unlock things like quick shift, etc.? Everyone’s doing it now unfortunately so you really can’t single out Stark on this detail.
If it was street legal in California, that means you could ride it at ohv places. The current one you can't because you can't get a green sticker for it. Looks cool to me.
So, how easy would it be to convert this to MX, or convert the Varg to street legal? My dream scenario is to have 1 bike I can ride to work, come home, change plastic and wheels and go race.
i plan to get a new 350 this year (have a stark, love it, doesn't replace a gas bike in all use cases) but also i kind of want this. also i'm not rich and shouldn't take on new debt. also i need to log off before i go make a deposit.

There's a huge advantage to having a bike road legal in NJ. Many of the fire roads in NJ are legal to tagged vehicles. The fire roads connect all of the single track. While it's illegal to ride any single track on state land, it's also illegal to be on a fire road with an untagged bike. It's basically impossible to get caught riding single track because park police can only monitor the fire roads in their SUVs. So... since they'll only see you on the fire roads, and having a tagged bike on fire roads is legal, it's a big win for Stark.

You can do that now with a KTM EXC 350 or 500. You can also get any bike plated in Arizona or S.Dakota as well. I know several people that have them.
They've signed him one year ago, they had FIM approval to race Superenduro until a last minute change ruling out electrics (24 hours before the first round).
Taddy and Eddie Karlsson have been racing various hard and extreme enduro races on the Varg, and they are finally racing FIM superenduro, starting this weekend.

To top it off, to , perhaps, continue so many drongo's indignation, the Boss is back to sporting a Black Turtle Neck, and his Pony Tail. 😁
It's going to be hard to drop the "electric bikes are gay" stigma while having literal dildo blinkers.
Glad to see that Stark is still advancing their line in face of a dirt bike industry contraction. Existing bike already has good reviews on the mx track and 20% more range along with the current lower prices might be enough to tip me into the interested shopper column.

Being able to ride it with an A1 licence is huge for EU countries.
Cool!
Now we know what they are doing with their 3D printer...

How did KTM let that happen?
Battery capacity's increased from 6.5kWh to 7.2kWh, they must have changed from 4500mAh to 5000mAh battery cells.

Seems like a great bike. Glad to see them producing another version of the model.

Wonder what kind of range a VET woods racer could expect?

So does Tadja Blausiak (I know) race the Stark ?
I'm in no rush for an electric motorcycle, but I applaud Stark on this one. I feel this has more usability compared to the motocross version.
That being said I would still never own an off-road motorcycle without a clutch. It's just a safety thing for me.
Interesting times indeed.

Fantastic! Horses for courses... but Antons launch video make every 4-2-stroke manufacturer look like they are from the 90s.
I have no Enduro ambitions at all, but what a great intro and this will be an amazing success I bet!
