I just realized, you make an intro into what you're about to say, and then say it.

Just tell us my dude.

"I want to talk about the lap times between this dude and that dude and why that is gonna play a roll, blah blah blah blah."

Just say it mate... You sound like my ex girlfriend warmin me up for a break up. Try it next week and if I'm wrong, cool.

Mate, that’s effective communication. It’s one of the first topics you’ll learn in a public speaking course.

"To your point", it doesn't mean that it sounds right.

I think when he turns a 30 second sentence into a minute+, it creates him stumbling and drags on the point vs his punchline being sufficient.

College courses are a scam in real life, minus doctors and cheeky lawyers to your point.

He could talk a long winded intro through the Moto and you'll still watch.

Back in mahhh day we had to call 1800moto to hear the results 7 days after the races and wait for cycle news 700 days later. Rawwwerrr the commentators are fine suck it up and walk uphill!

RC seems to take what James or Weege says, repeats it less eloquently, then says that is what they were "alluding to". "To your point," then says same point..

AC waiting patiently to replace him. Hopefully sooner than later. AC and Stew together would be really good too

My wife got drunk and started watching the race with me last night, and without knowledge of any criticism we have on Ricky, started giggling uncontrollably when Ricky said, "when the heats get hot like this". Said, "I in no way can do their job any better, and I notice that I haven't heard them say 'uhhhh' once, but that was just too cute."

I don't understand the push for AC to be in the booth. The sample we have had hasn't been any better then the guys currently doing it. It doesn't come as naturally to him as it did Daniel Blaire. JS7 has been killing it this year and Weege knows how to call the action bringing excitement to the moment.  I like AC but he's got a ways to go.  He will get better, like all people do with practice.

I actually think Justin Brayton has been doing a good job on the Raceday live broadcast, better then RC or Adam.

I'm a big fan of AC but I agree. He's not quite all the way there yet. If James doesn't want to do this full time, a rotating cast of Brayton, JT, and AC in different positions would be ideal.

Really liked James pointing out to look at the rider's forearms to see all the chatter they were taking on the bikes with SX suspension.

Yeah, that’s not how it works in a commentary booth.

The joke about his mom training the supermini kid was awesome..  "I feel sorry for him" was worth a good chuckle Smile

IMO, RC is only getting better.  Y'all forget how bad he was when he first started in the booth.

My wife is usually in the room when I’m watching, but she only halfway pays attention. But she had to smirk when Ricky said that.

She usually half pays attention and hangs around for half the race, but she went out with a group after doing a 100 mile bike ride and mentioned to someone that I was into moto, and they instantly whipped out their phone and showed her pictures of them with Malcolm Stewart, and she was like, "holy shit, how do I know who Malcolm Stewart is?"

Before she was mainly just a fan of Marvin's podium speeches.

Interesting that the broadcaster hasn’t sent Ricky to any coaches or classes just to help him tighten his game up - or have they ? IDK.

It’s obviously a lot harder than we think it is but two things I notice 1) He often loses track of where he’s going with his comment 2) He just doesn’t understand the meaning of a lot of the words he uses and is using them incorrectly which makes him appear rather daft .

The broadcaster - NBC? I honestly don’t know - should be helping him though . You don’t just give a kid a 450  point him at a SX  track and tell them to have at it but that’s, seemingly, what’s happened here with Ricky and his commentary career .

just need to cut the 42 announcers to 2 and it would solve 99% of the broadcast issues.

Start saying "outside, inside" just to mix it up and drive Vitards insane.

Yeah, having three in the booth, two trackside and the other three is wayyyyyy too much, just do two in the booth, one trackside, one pit reporter.

Ricky is definitely no silver tongue devil but this is dirt bikes.  I'll take him as long as he wants to do it.  I don't hang out with any theoretical physicists or English majors.  I have never had any trouble understanding what Ricky is talking about and I actually like laughing at his shit.

Maybe the younger folks don't really know what he did in the sport or some folks just can't get no satisfaction but I dig RC.

She did it last year in sandals riding a dual sport, struggled a lot, but did every mile. She rode my gravel bike this year and cut a couple hours off her time, I'm proud as hell of her!
