last 2 years Star racing 250 program lives off of Haiden Deegan.......they had 8 riders last year, this one its 9, and if you take Deegan out, i am sure he would do the same in any other factory program, then the supposed "power house" of the 250s is really the most expensive shit show in the sport.......
with all the hype and credit that everybody in the sport gives them, as if they are the best team hands down, you would expect more then just surviving on the results of a rookie......they just throw money at anyone riding fast to join in, and keep burning young kids one after the other.....Dax is just another very fast kid that got burned at the farm......
also the bike doesn't look as good as it was, holeshots don't come as often as they used to, and for a example, yesterday Deegan lost time over horse power hill all day.......i risk to say that now the star racing 250f is the most overrated bike in the paddock......
i guess that, while all other programs are focused in beating Deegan, in the farm they get used to loose to him, and then loosing stops being a big thing, so has long as Deegan wins, everybody his happy !!!!!! Kitchen talked a bit about it and i think we will hear a bit more in this off season.....
You make some good points, heck Club was the team that had all bikes up on the start this year, gone are the days of the entire Star team leading them around the first corner
I really hate it for that kid. He was an excellent AM. Turned pro too early, (probably forced....), and then without enough time in the big boy ranks, shoved aside. Kid was cooked from pressure. Aside from Deegan, I see Bobby scratching a shitload of names from his roster pretty soon, and starting over.....as far as young guns are concerned. Star grabs the latest, greatest, flash they can find, impresses them with their clout, and if the results do not happen quickly? Drops them like a burned up match. Next....
To me, Star is the WalMart of race teams. Employees seem to just show up, collect some checks, and unless their performance is the absolute world changing, they toss your ass out like outdated milk. It's a revolving door..... They have their brass talent in Eli, Webb, and they are secure. Poor old Cooper and Deegan are keeping the shop in the spotlight, so I would see them a store managers..... unitl the CEO thinks they are worthy of paid time off,,,,, Then he grants you Brass level perks. .
That team has really tossed aside some damn good kids who maybe just needed a little more time...... It;s not like they couldn't afford it
I think the injuries took their toll on Matt, he was just tired of being injured. Going through the recovery process and getting on the bike only to be derailed by another injury.
Matt was the youngest rider ever to sign a pro deal at like 12 years old with KTM. At a time when other kids are having fun riding their dirt bikes, Matt was under tremendous pressure to perform. I can't think of any other rider who had that kind of weight on his shoulders as a pre-teen.
Was just reading about Leblanc and came across an article about Challen Tennant. This sport can be especially cruel to it's young.
It has to be a ton of pressure for these kid's. Most don't realize that some of these top kid's are the bread winners of the household.
Yeah, not much of a leash at Star if you dont produce. Seems lIke these guys are in and out quick out of amatuers. Leblanc, Frye. Romano and Dax gotta be feeling the preasure
On steve’s review show about washougal, Weege said bennick has been hauling at the farm but getting massive arm pump at the races.
Definitely too bad so far. I have been rooting for him as well. Very disappointing to see his results this past weekend. He has a ton of talent. Maybe needs a better trainer, or whatever they have for support at STAR for that purpose.
Bennick showed what he's capable of in futures and even finished on the podium in SX. He seems more like a SX specialist rather than an outdoor guy but still, rookie season, he's young, he can be dealing with a small injury, an illness, fatigue racing week-in-week-out for the first time in his life (since there's typically breaks in amateur racing), longer motos, more riding during the week AND more riding on the weekend as well. There's more competition than there's ever been as well so the difference between finishing 5th and 15th is a lot closer than most of you realize, ask Ryder DiFrancisco after this weekend. There's very few riders who figure it out right away, those who do are usually in the HOF at the end of their career. If a year from now we're still looking at the same results then our speculation is valid. Let him get the grind of racing every weekend under his belt, have a full off season to understand his weaknesses and address them and see how he does next season. This sport is so quick to count someone out, even if they showed us there's championship level potential already.
I don't buy that, its a pretty regimented training program over there.
Star should give Dilan Schwartz a call. That dude is routinely hunting down and passing those Yamahas. ON A SUSZUKI!
He's in a learning year slump. It happens to nearly everybody after you do good a few times, then hit a wall of progression. He'll come around. We all know he has the talent. Maybe he just needs better starts?

There's very few riders who have the ability to come through the pack like Deegan does in the 250 class. Look at Kitchen, he was struggling most of the season and finally got 2 good starts at Millville and went 1-1. I'm not implying that Bennick would win if he got a good start, but give Bennick 2 holeshots at Unadilla and I bet he finishes top 7 at worst.
I expect he'll do better at the tracks he rode last year. Hope so anyway.
The 250 class is stacked, he just needs a start.

Different Tennant, Challen is from Texas and rode for Start as an amateur and never got the chance ride for them as a pro.
If I remember Challen started his pro career for the EBR team when they were doing the pro stuff for a few years around 2018/2020. He rode for the 3D team at the end. He wasn’t jelling with SX but got some better results outdoors.
The other Tennant, Caleb, is South African. He trained Deegan maybe 2 years when he was on supermini and now helps Stav Orland and Dalton Venter.
Sure, i was more alluding to the star racing meat grinder program, it isnt for everyone.
Except it is arm pump issues and not burnout...has nothing to do with your meat grinder theory...
I believe that is what his people told Weege, but historically guys that have the speed but suffer from arm pump qualify well then fade in the motos. His qualifying speed is as bad as his moto finishes, possibly worse.
He'll be a fine pro, but guys like OP that have been telling us for years that he will be better than Deegan are having to come to terms with that not being the case.
It’s a professional sport. Either you make it, or you don’t. Hope Dax does, he seems like a nice kid. But the world needs ditch diggers too.

Simmer down pal, he didn't say anything about Dax failing. He actually said he'd be a fine Pro, no need to be so emotional just because you want an opportunity to rage about Deegan. Look, we're sorry your cousin couldn't beat Brian, no need to carry that grudge your whole life.
Time will tell for sure, but at this point he's gonna have a long road to get to Deegs level, especially because he's got a lot of guys between him and that level that he'll have to pass up. Hymas, Kitchen, Cochrane etc. etc. aren't going anywhere any time soon either.
