Stop on by say hello and pick up some swag. Shirts, Hats, Jerseys, Hoodies, Kids shirts and Hoodies too.

We'll have our dart game set up at our tent.. Hit a bullseye, win a prize!

Unfortunately it was too expensive to fly the Moto XXX girls up there.

See ya there Friday & Saturday!

I could have brought the girls up there, it woulda been a great road trip. 😉

After the races we pill out a bbq and make some hamburgers and hang out for a about two hours to let the traffic die down some.

I've decided to stay home and watch from the couch. Weather says 96f and humidity has been running around 50% all week. I'm just not up to that, given that 1) I'm not young anymore, and 2) we ride there 10+ times each year, once or twice being on private days where it's empty. Plus I think all the new chain link fencing they've put up is going to be detrimental to the overall vibe. Make sure you hydrate. You spend the day walking those hills in that heat/humidity and heat stroke is a real concern.

Searching for anything.  LOL.  No alcohol (etc.)  I have heard some folks that were barely even glanced at, and some folks got the rubber glove treatment (over the recent years).  I will say last year, the guys searching looked homeless (at least they were not flaggers right?), whatever they confiscated, got taken back to their place  haha.  I did note as the lines got longer, their searches were less gritty.

For race day, the only place you can get a beer or wine if that is your thing, is the beer gardens which in both cases, are in really odd spots with low visibility, completely fenced in.  With the way they did it, I would have felt like a raging alcoholic sitting in there, it really did look like a corral for "those people", you really can't see much, you are fenced in, it was almost pointless to be at a race, and not seeing the race for the sake of an adult drink.  I used to love having a beer watching the races, but they have made that less and less of an option each year.  Same old story, idiots that can't control themselves ruin the fun for the people who can moderate and do it responsibly.

For what it’s worth my friend and I each brought a 12 pack in our backpacks last year and were not hassled. We were asked at the gate if we had alcohol and said no. They didn’t check. We drank the beers all around the track but were doing our best to be stealthy about it. No issues, but I’m sure many others’ experiences differ

I don’t care about drinking while I’m watching the race but we’re camping there for 3 nights, I wouldn’t mind a couple cervezas at the end of the day / early evening. I have to laugh at how everyone says Californias all fucked up and has too many rules and regulations. Pffft…. From what I’m hearing in this thread Washington is more “California” than California ever was.  lol. I’ve never had or heard of anyone getting the inside of their camper searched while camping at a National at Glen Helen or Pala.

It has nothing to do with Washington, it’s a privately owned and run track which enforces its own rules. That said, I’d never heard of vehicles being searched upon entry. I was surprised to read that

We’ll find out tomorrow. We thought about clever hiding places and decided fuck it, not drinking for 3 nights won’t kill us. I imagine by 8-10 pm tomorrow the volume in camp will tell us  which campers are smugglers 😆

I honestly doubt that if you were mildly creative about concealment and then didn't make it obvious while indulging and behaved yourselves that you would have any issues. The idea is to keep things from becoming out of hand and it becomes a drunk fest. I've seen it all over the years camping at Red Bud, Polka Dots, Mid Ohio, Troy, Delta, Mt Morris and Unadilla. I understand what they don't want and what they will overlook Smile

Some overzealous rent a cop or something. I've seen that type of thing before as well and it isn't pretty.

It's because there was damn near a riot there some years ago.  A cop car got flipped over a lit on fire is the rumor.

But, Washington does suck.

Same reason Unadilla took extreme measures years ago. I could tell you some of the stuff I saw there but it isn't even fit for this forum. I just feel lucky I came from the generation that mostly new how to party without getting completely stupid. I saw things ratcheting up over time and was not surprised when it all was brought to a halt.

It's not that hard to get beer in anyway, and once you're in they don't give a shit.  They are just checking up front to cover their asses for insurance and liability.

If you don't look like a group of 20 somethings that are showing up to party like rockstars the whole weekend, they just do a brief search and let you in.  Put a 6 pack of cheap shit in your cooler as a "sacrifice" and they'll move along.

Hitting the road in about 2 hours, see you freaks there.

Why did they put up all of that fencing? Cheaper insurance premium by putting it in place?

I'd guess so. I know Woodland MX had to redo all their fencing last year to reduce/eliminate track access - you used to be able to cross the track in several places but that is no more. At Washougal I have seen bikes endo over the old fence at the whoops. Last year I was on the Motosport platform there and I was thinking about the chaos should someone get it wrong and end up cartwheeling into the crowd.

All they would say was insurance requirement. They suffered a lawsuit a couple years ago. With a flagger getting taken out. Similar to the lacr thing.

I was curious where they put up the high fencing? Was it just through the whoop section? We are heading out at o butt crack 30 tomorrow hoping that the camping area does not look like it did last year, very packed.

It's in a lot of places now. 2nd turn, up HP hill, along the Chuck Sun jump and the catchers mitt. It's 6' in many places. Frankly it really sucks. I get why, but it still sucks.

That's MIke Healy in I believe 1993. He crashed into the fence after casing that triple in the middle of the track before you head back uphill to the road jump.

The WORST fish and chips.  Took some cats from the GP mill for lunch, all raved about the fish, so I ordered it.

Hard PASS. 😊

It took us 7 days. We’re taking the long way home as well.  We actually did “forget” about some alcohol that wasn’t in the cooler or anywhere they looked. So we only lost a 12 pack of Coors lite. Coors… the pawn of beers lol. Turns out the only people who smuggled alcohol in was everybody
