Your riding pet peeves

Lets hear some of your pet peeves when riding with buddies. What are some things they do or don't do that just make you shake your head.

For me my top 3 are:

1. Not having their bikes ready. I make a habit of cleaning and prepping my bike as soon as I get home from a ride or the next day. I hate when we get ready to head out, and my riding buddy is like "hey, I need to change a flat, my air filter needs changing", etc.

2. Ratchet tie downs. I have a couple buddies that just use whatever tie downs they can find, and when they are the ratcheting type, I shake my head.

3. Parking lot heroes. No helmet, tennis shoes doing wheelies in the parking lot or staging area. That shit pisses me off.

lets hear some of yours.

My buddy will let the whole class go off the line then he slowly rides to the first corner. Drives me nuts watching him..

Poor rider etiquette pisses me off friend or no friend.

Other one is always trying to moto it up. Just let me have fun doing my laps without always getting in around me.

When it's open practice people that will just shred by a little guy and roost them or jump over their head.  It's stupid, they shouldn't be out together anyway but man just cruise by give them space or just cut the track and let the little guys learn.

No peeves with my buddies or they wouldn’t be my buddies. Lol

but the old coot that rides the Pala vet track that will race you to the next turn, cross jump or run you high for that one straight away can kiss my ass.  Yes, I roost the eff out of him/them as soon as I’m clear and I’m 99.9% of the time not that kinda guy.

when doing your sighting/warm up laps and you’re sticking to the outside line (usually standing up to make it obvious you’re cruising) and a faster rider goes to the inside to pass you and then purposely drifts to the outside and roosts the snot out of you … yeah man you’re so cool, you’re so fast, wow, you doosh canoe!

#3 the parking lot assholes. Used to call them Poindexters "reference to Gary Semics video tapes showing you what not to do".  In the same spirit tracks with a rule to walk your bike back to your pit when a race is over and you're off the track....the assholes who got their ass kicked or pissed off and would ignore the rule and go flying through the pits nearly hitting everyone including kids.

I often pick up a friend or 2 on the way to the track. One of them is always taking a shit when I get there. I gotta load his fucking gear and bike 9 times out of 10.

With the exception of my last time at the track, the previous 5 or 6 trips to the track this happened…. Super sick bro! Congratulations, you are the biggest douche at the track today 😂

Or, they were once faster than youll ever be..

Buddies wait till I'm 15 minutes into a 20 minute session, then jump on the track behind and want to race. Then come back to the pits and say how I was holding them up, and whats wrong with my speed today.

The guys who park so close, you can barely get your door open, and there's 100' around us available.

And as mentioned the buddy that shows up, and he doesn't have gas in his bike or have any with him. Filter is so dirty his bike doesn't run, or he has a flat from the previous weekend that he never fixed, and wants to scour your tool box for tools.

I knew a mini dad growing up that was totally this, never raced a day in his life. One day I saw his 10 year old in an arm cast, I asked what happened. The dad had built some gigantic new double and made the kid try it. His words "we decided to try the double and we didn't make it." Fuck that guy, his kids stopped riding because it just wasn't fun anymore.

I only ride off road now and my pet peeve is when riders never look back to see if you are still behind them.

I see it happening and i’m just like … COME ON MAN… REALLY?! You think you’re so fast but you can’t hold your line! It usually wakes me up quicker and i seek my revenge on the ole 06 KX250, then my fore arms pump up and i have to idle back to the pits 😂

Im talking strictly normal open practice days.

People without awareness.

Slower riders that start to put up a fight when you pull up on them and try to keep you behind. Dude, just chop the throttle for a millisecond and let me pass you without any fuss. So please do not try to leave the braking to the very last second just because somebody faster is passing you while enjoying a practice day. This is the reason i try to pass people way outside or way inside, as far from them as possible.

When your friend who sits down with their elbows dropped down to their knees the entire race complains about bike set up.

I hate this too the last real bad one happened at washougal. Caught some guy on a blacked out clapped 05 crf450. I'm on my yz250. Suddenly decides to wick it up and starts getting squirrelly.

Over the ant hill into the sand section he goes left side. The rougher side I go right the smoother side thinking yes finally got ya. There's a good 10 feet between us. I'm wfo in 4th starting to reel past.

When I see outta the corner of my eye. He hits the first of the hidden acceleration bumps in the sand. Both feet come flying off the pegs backwards. His bike swaps hard to the right. Hits the second accel bump. He's about to fall off and whiskey throttled it.

Bike swaps hard to the left and then shoots square into me. Right as I'm about to pass. I take the hit managed to stay up for a few more feet. Then loose control as the bike falls over on the right side. I take a small tumble nothing bad.

I get up real fast grab my bike and see my crushed left rad shooting coolant into the air about 3 feet.

Dude that caused it gets up and starts shaking his fist at me like it was my fault.

Practice days only: people who I catch really quickly, see me behind them, and then do absolutely everything in their power to not let me pass them. Younger me would chop their front wheel off and then they’d have the gall to yell at me in the pits. For someone reason, it’s always vet riders who do this. We had our time dude, let faster people by and go to work on Monday.

Political flags at the track. No one cares what crooked politician you think is a god. Run the Stars and Stripes, or wherever you’re from, and call it a day.

Why do people care if they get passed by a carpenter/scientist.

I had 2 close calls with the same guy last weekend.

People who don’t bring basic hand tools to the track. It amazes me that people will drive all the way there without bringing a 8mm

The dude that pulls in at 11:00 sat night revs his truck unloads the jobsite generator then starts working on his bike with spoke wraps #69 or 420 of course

Getting the bike caked with mud and weighting it down with 20 lbs of mud.

No or not enough hot chicks to check out along the track as I make my laps
