Who's running it?

Looks like Gaven Ayala has done their recent posting, he used to be the Deegan's vlogger.

Interesting.

Didn’t Swap want to buy the name when they originally cut the cord but wasn’t able to? Or were they asking too much at the time? I can’t remember exactly but excited to see how this progresses over time or what it ends up being regardless.

He tried, can't remember the exact reason but I think the new owners refused to sell or didn't get back to him. I'd have to ask to be sure.

That’s like when they opened a track at Irvine Lake 3 miles down the road from the old Saddleback and called it a Saddleback comeback. Yeah - No, just not the same. Be much better off starting a new media empire with a different name

Haha I rode a 65 around all the tracks probably the most sketchy tracks I have ever ridden in my life. Probably not so sketchy on a big bike.

I’m happy they didn’t sell the name to swap I like Curtis and Anton, something about swap I just can’t get down with these days.

Don't mean to shit on their comeback but I have to agree. If Swap isn't involved it's not going to be Transworld MX.

Interesting, they are using Motocross.com and owned by The Arena Group.

https://thearenagroup.net/

Looks like they got their IG account and YouTube followers. Last post was in 2019. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Don and crew have done a great job with SML. Hopefully this isn’t just a name grab, and there is some recognition of how much he put TWMX on the map during his time there if it takes off again.

"Transworld" WITHOUT Don is worthless to me...

Totally moronic.

Great job on the video! I loved the slow-motion close-ups showing the suspension and the overall format. I re-subbed!

Initial thought is TWMX without Swap is a miss. I'm an open minded kinda guy so I'll give them a chance.

Loved the posters. And like alphado said, the mullet hunter too. I think at least for awhile they did amateur riders hot moms too. It was great when Swap ran the show. Great magazine in its day

Feel like if Swap was THAT good TWMX never would have gone down? I know most of you all love him, but IMO he has always been that sorta creepy man-friend to all the riders, and not really a journalist. Super-bro.

Mullets are too popular now. They’d have to change it to “white spy sunglasses hunter” or “Skin Industries flat brim hunter”

Where was saddleback 2.0?

The Irvine Lake track was about a mile past the Saddleback entrance. When I had heard about it, I had been starting to try and dice with my friends while trail riding after a 20 year injury induced layoff, I figured if “Saddleback” was reopening I might want to try getting back on a track before I end up taking one of my off road buddies out on a double track or sumthin. It definitely had nothing to do with Saddleback other than share Santiago Cyn Road but after a couple 3 nights out there I was driving home calculating how many months till Mammoth MX and since my 89 CR250 trail bike wouldn’t cut it in my mind? wondering if my next door neighbor would let me borrow his 01 or 02 YZ 4twentywhatever that had been sitting under a tarp in his back yard for months. A set of protapers and triple clamp adapters, a Dr. D hotstart, some fresh rubber, chain, sprocket, cables, fork oil and I might of put a seat cover on it later - then a warm up race at The Glen a couple, few MTB rides and I went and filmed this after a 22 year layoff, the rest is the majority of my moto history before I broke my neck in ‘83. so that track had a special place in my heart but it wasn’t no Saddleback.

How long the track stayed open? A couple years? Why did it close?  I remember it was around the mid 2000’s.

So confused... Saddleback closed in '85 right?  What year was this when "Saddleback 2.0" opened?  How far down from the lake was it?  curious If you can make it our on google earth.  Was is a big national track?

If it’s a completely new owner trying to resurrect the brand, then cool, I hope they can do it. If it’s the same publisher who shut it down trying to recreate for a money grab, then fuck them; I hope Vital, SML and Racer X sink the fucker like the Titanic.

I feel the same about Swap, but I don't think it's fair to say the collapse of TWMX falls on him. I believe Transworld was an umbrella brand (skate, surf, etc.) and the entire Transworld brand folded.

Didn't he come out decades ago about his past of riding 3 wheelers?
