Coming to a complete stop is not a good idea- slamming on brakes in slick gravelly or really steep areas off track could create more crashes and problems. Reentering at exact same spot isn't safe and doesn't make sense. Riders would have to make a U-turn and come back to the spot? Bad idea. Best solution I think is to require one hand high in the air as aknowledgment of off track excursion, slowing below race pace then looking at traffic and rejoining at next safe place.

Yea I think it’s 3 times they receive a warning & then 2 more it’s a ride through penalty, designated long lane = about 3 sec, & one off track on last lap 3 sec added to their time. if the AMA can’t get much right regarding fairness how are they going to watch the whole track & every rider all the time,

5/30/2024 5:37am My thought is that the AMA should adopt what MotoGP does. If you exceed track limits once, you get a warning; if you exceed track limits twice, you get penalized. If you cut the track, and/or don't slow down and reenter the lap safely, you get penalized. They took all of the grey area out of it., as it should...

10/24/2013 12:16pm I think it can but the owner would need to think outside the box and generate revenue via things other than raceday. (paid memberships, open for practice, etc...) Also, if I were an owner I would look into hosting things like Warrior Dash races, things like that which are hugely popular right now.
