Ok...I'll grant you that but the thing is...I'm seeing what he's seeing so I just think of him as "one of the guys". I guess I'm not expecting as much as y'all.
He’s terrible. I can watch a dozen other professional sports broadcast and he is the worst. Great dirtbike rider in his day, but mediocre at best in his current position.

I’m not hating too much. I listen to his pod almost every week. I do have to rewind quite a bit to make sure I heard things correctly. Maybe that’s why he calls his show REWIND?
It's tough for Ricky because he's in a must situation. I don't know must-what, but definitely must-something.

This is as dumb as it sounds but it’s because RC is the GOAT.
Naw, doesn't sound dumb at all. It's that very reason that people still give him a pass. Just look at some people in this thread. I'm sure the broadcast team assumed he would get better too. They assumed wrong. Fro was much better

No matter who is in the booth, they have to stop telling stories and doing interviews during the race. Just call the racing. No Will with I spoke to the man on the moon last week etc. If JT sees something that’s about the race. Then bring it. Otherwise it’s all word salad and kills the show.
Turn up the bikes and stop talking so much about nothing.

The Fro v RC comparison has merit. Jeff’s progression has been tremendous, and he obviously spent many hours honing his delivery. Ricky, on the other hand, appears to have regressed as broadcasting became more important than commentating. His analysis is crammed with pre-packaged comments that interrupt his thought process and negatively impact the flow of the broadcast.
If the producers would allow RC to simply be RC, they would deliver a better product.
Well, he is. He tells too many personal things, ohhhhs and oooooohs way too much, doesn't call track action very much, and generally rambles on.
I thought it was Jeff (back in 97) Emig.
JB is boring to listen to though IMO
