Being "tougher than nails" and making a smart decision for your future are two different things.

What if your future is a motocross racer. I haven’t heard Austin announce any other plans. If these guys were as scared of life changing injury as much as some of the Vitards they’d be in a different business with a different future and would probably make different decisions that would make you feel safer ……but there not.

Strategy to fake an injury is deemed acceptable by fans?!?  Yeah- NO!!

Laughing that’s why most motocross fans laugh at stick and ball sports and all the over paid entitled “Athlete's”   IMHO

and I bet Sexton could fake playing a quarter of a soccer game a hell of lot better than any soccer player could fake moto, and I’ll put Sextons VO2 or any other physical metric against ANY athlete and I’m sure he’d hold his own

Bizarre take, with no evidence to back it up.

The evidence isn’t measurable. It has to do with his desire, and the fact at one point in thier evolution there were evenly matched and AF may still think Jett is beatable as he hasn’t seen the back of his bike much as the rest of the field. Plus he’s the only one of any consequence we hsvnt seen Jett race other than diaper boy.  Those two could be the only legit option coming up during the rest of Jett’s career…..but I doubt it. Thats why they race. The next guy to dethrone Jett prolly just won a KTM jrs somewhere.

Charles Dao posted a video of him doing some flexibility exercises in the gym the other day. Austin and his teammates are some of the toughest and most hungry guys in the sport. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he races the next east coast round.

What are you new?  Do you have ANY idea how many injuries he’s gone back from?

I think he’s got the mental brain side down pat. Not only does he put his fear aside he comes back as fast as when he left, that takes huge mental strength

COULD be that he wants to come back in Nashville as that is the place he tore his ACL in qualifying that took him out of the Championship in 2019. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Doug Henry came back from worse, and won a championship, you can only wish Mr. Forkner the best.

Yes Agreed.

That's why I said "Hold his own"  No disrespect to soccer players, or any ball player but I bet most pro MXers could jump on a soccer or any ball field and play well enough to look like they may have been a poor recruit that maybe needs a little practice.  Most pro athletes would look like Brandons first race on even an arenacross track.

I never understood the soccer/motocross comparison or test if soccer players run around versus a full body moto workout at max heartrate.  I think they just say that since soccer is so popular around the world to put in the same sentence.

On Forkner’s video he said he got a good scare this time after seeing the crash footage and that was after prior worse internal injuries so to have a stud like Ryno with him and PC is encouraging and most of us on here would like some Deegan redemption before he goes and takes on 450’s like we know he can.

I like this take, I don't know if I agree with it totally, but you may have a point. The 450 class certainly needs a refresh with the ascendancy of Jett. Anyone of them competing against Jett now on a 450 is defeated, you can see when they are passed, they totally deflate. Riders formally known for slicing through the pack we now hear from them about how one-lined the tracks are, how brutal the tracks are, they are chasing "set up" (Chase has been on the KTM at least 6 months now), or worse yet Webb this weekend saying it's "starter cross". In years past riders typically retired around 28 years old, maybe many of these current riders are truly past their prime being around 30 or so, perhaps some of the 250 riders should have moved up to the challenge years ago. Some of these current 450 riders who are past champs are probably multi-millionaires already, married, with kids, homes, a bright future, perhaps they are not willing to take unnecessary risks anymore? Perhaps Forkner can challenge Jett, he has beat him before, maybe McAdoo, Kitchen, Vialle, Deegan, or maybe Prado outdoors. Perhaps Triumph will take a chance on one of these guys on a 450 or some other current 250 rider. One thing is certain, the current 450 riders cannot beat him straight up, maybe it takes Prado next year outdoors?

One final thought. Obviously 250 riders like Hampshire, Forkner, Star riders and the like train with 450 riders on the same track at times. Wouldn't team managers, industry types, and journalists already know if one of these riders would be competitive within the 450 class?

The difference between the 250 and 450 classes go way beyond CCs. Even if someone can go fast on the 250, doesn’t always translate to the bigger bike.

Excited for Austin to be back!

They should be have to leave the field for 10 minutes if they flop, that would stop most of the bs dives these guys do.

Austin is great...love how determined he is. Hope he wins again soon. Most all true racers find a way to put the fear of crashing and getting hurt behind them. Does not matter what class you ride. But at some point, you do slow down some.

How can you not be rooting for Austin at this point. I want to see him put in a bunch of rides and go injury free. He could be a contender for the MX and SMX title quite easily imho. I'm also look forward to seeing him move up to a 450, I think he will be a force on one.

How about an injury that was never given enough time to heal, causing further issues? One wrong move and that not healed L3/L4 fracture can cause a list of longing issues, therefore shortening the future of being a racer. Sure, the risk is always there. But why risk your future to show up and prove that you’re a badass when you’re out of the points anyways? Don’t bring sponsors into it either. If that was an issue they would have dropped Austin from the team years ago.

I have a feeling at this point that nothing will be rushed. Hell Mitch has stuck with him through thick and thin so that tells me everything I need to know about Austin.

Absolutely not surprised you've got that many dislikes...

The speed he was showing, he'd 100% have been in 450 factory kawi discussion.

I don't think he's trying to prove anything let alone that he's a badass.  It's his JOB, like going to work with a cold so you don't get fired.  and breaking your transverse or spinous process is like breaking your pinky, except you don't use it as much as you would your pinky.  Don't get me wrong I don't discount any spinal injury - this is me after I broke MY C1 in a supercross at A1 bitd  http://www.fitzgbros.com/images/pfghalo.jpg

Considering he is not in any sort of clamshell back brace or anything and is already looking active he must of had small and stable breaks in his vertebrae which is good.

I broke my scapula in a few pieces and was back on the bike in 8 weeks and wasn't really pushing it and was comfortable first ride so I'm sure with the resources and time he can devote to rehab that wont be an issue either.

c1 is calledv a hangman injury where you separate your head from your body.  There is a joke about “running around like a chicken with its head cut off” and that is based on a true story where a chicken had his head cut off but the brain stem was still there so the owner took it around as a circus act.
