How to make triple crown better

Here's something you'll never see but would be a gas to watch:

Moto 1: Backwards start on the gate.

Moto 2: Two-rider teams determined by random drawing of names from a hat.

Moto 3: Soak the track for a full-blown mudder and the bikes shod with trials or hardpack tires.

Good luck with your fantasy team using that arrangement.  

moto 1: sprint race (4 minutes + 2 lap)

moto 2: 10 minutes +2 laps

moto 3:  inverted start based on standings from previous motos. 18 minutes +2 laps, lowest score in 3rd moto is used for tie-breakers

Make all 3 races 5 minutes longer

First, we need to know what a triple is? A double, with two jumps, or a quad?

Point system sucks on triple crown night. You can dnf one main and you will lose just couple championship points not alot so they dont give real value. 

Well, so I don't offend anyone, I refer to a triple as a "multi-jump" - it's just more inclusive.

But a quad is an easy answer - it's simply something that reduces your IQ when you ride it. 

My personal preference to try would be:

Race 1: Gate selection based on practice time. 
Race 2: Gate selection based on finish of race 1. 
Race 3: Gate selection inverted based on where they sit going into race 3 (as mentioned above).

the normal format is 6.5 hours of qualifying and 25 mins of racing…

Rename it to Super Triple Crown

I like the triple crown format, but it leaves out the vast majority of privateers for the night show. 

I would add the heat races into the format as well as the last chance qualifier.

Sure, it will take 4 hours, but more moto is never a bad thing.

The non-streaming broadcast for the casual fans can leave out the heats and LCQ and just show hilights like they did back in the day.

The entire race day live program is qualifying and then the entire first 2.5 hours of the 3 hour program is for gate pick choice in the main which is the only part of the entire program that pays any points.

so 2.5 hours in the night show plus the entire race day live program is literally qualifying.

the final 30 minutes of the entire program is racing.

triple crown is racing for points the entire time in the night show with the race day live being for qualifying.

I say its a free for all. No penalties given for the night, anything goes. Also add fire to the off track areas.

But then what if someone goes 1-1-1 and suddenly has a 25 point lead? Potential for a big shakeup swings both ways. There does need to be more incentive per moto though, just not full points.

The triple crown should be a wild card for points in the 3 separate races. Each main should pay it's own points in my opinion.

I understand that this is improbable due to the time requirements need to make track fixes in the intermission time…. But hear me out. 
 

Keep the triple crown format the same. Continue the KTM 50 race during the first intermission. But during the second intermission, integrate Pulp’s Privateer race for everyone that did not make the main. 
 

This would allow for people not making the main to race in the night show. It would allow the fans to watch the craziness of the LCQ. And Pulp’s privateer format would be moved to a three race series, which would make it more chaotic in the long run. 

Everyone has to ride a two stroke!

I like this but….normal finish points PLUS if you put someone down you get the points they loose in positions lost.

Everyone gets to use the "Hunta Line" legally ounce.

They do ktm jr and futures this weekend so it could work time wise but only us “core” fans would want to see that race so I don’t see them ever doing something like that. 

I think they should drop them now that we have SMX at the end of the season.

Take all three heats and combine them into one 20 minute + 2 lap main event?

I attended my first triple crown last year and loved it. It was like watching 6 main events in one night. No heats/LCQ’s, 6 Mains plus the futures. It is very entertaining
