Gotta give the guys credit for putting in the effort just to be there but that was extremely disappointing. They were dealt a bad hand by getting the last gate pick and I’m sure some things happened out there that was out of their control but you just can’t make that many mistakes. Especially in the B final where they were probably the best team on the gate.

Hopefully we can send a similar team next year and try for some redemption.

We purchased MXGP tv season pass and watched all 18 GP races this year. IF you don't follow this series it's easy to think AMA Pro racers are much better . . . not the case. The competition in the GP from 1-15 is pretty tight and these guys race the entire 30 minutes +2

The Competition is so tight that getting a bad start will stop all but a few from getting on the podium. Jet has no problem coming from behind in AMA Pro and look at his 1st moto finish from a bad start against the GP guys.

Just have to start living with the fact that the usa is no longer the leader in the world at most things. Probably 20-50th in education, 50th plus in life expectancy and worse in quality of life. Our schools are a real mess, and even when you walk on the streets in the usa you can immediately notice how filthy it is compared to europe. Truth be told america has a lot of soul searching to do and the disappointment at mxon is just ripple effects of a sad and decayed culture

You got all that from a motocross race?

As a proud American and an avid fan of all things moto, I can see EXACTLY why its practically impossible to get anyone interested in going and riding in this event any longer…

Every member of Team USA gave up what could have been a weekend off to go race in a foreign land, on a track they’ve never been to, against the BEST racers the entire rest of the world can send, ONLY to have all the spoiled/ungrateful fans that have never accomplished a damn thing on a dirt bike, talk shit on them for their efforts!!!
Aaron Plessinger BLEEDS red/white/blue and would have given ANYTHING to bring home a victory for our beloved US of A! This is a crushing dent to his very existence and rather than a heartfelt “THANK YOU” for his time & effort, he gets shit on by a bunch of key board warriors for his trouble… Aaron, RJ & Christian all saddle up, poured their heart and soul into the endeavor and deserve nothing put our respect and gratitude for their effort!

I’m sure that anyone with anything shitty to say about Team USA woulda done SO much better if only Roger woulda just called YOU for the job rather than his KTM/Husky boys…Oh what mighta been if only Team USA woulda been filled with three heroic Vitards.

Instead of talking shit, calling it an embarrassment or any other crap you have to offer after your “BUT” maybe think about what your Mother mighta said when she could still talk any sense to you or was trying to teach you some manners and remember “If you ain’t got nothing nice to say, shut-up and don’t say anything at all!”

Congrats to the victorious teams and Thank you AP, RJ & CC…we’ll get’em next year!

That's just feel good bullsh*t you're offering.  I gave props to the team for standing up and going when no one else would, that deserves respect. But their rides were below par, and I'm willing to bet that even the riders themselves are not happy with their performances.

So by this standard, I guess no one who has never been the President of the United States can have an opinion on the matter, or at least one that has any value in regards to the job they perform?

there is a difference between stating your opinion as subjective and stating it as if it's a fact everybody agrees with. you're getting pushback because you put very little thought or effort into how you worded your post.

You came across like you were talking out your mouth and ass at teh same time

By what standard is factory riders getting lapped not embarrassing?  You can word it in any way you like, but the rides were less than stellar (which is not an opinion unless you twist the definition of what it means to have a stellar ride), and while I don't think many expected a win, I do believe they expected much better results. My original post did not come with a disclaimer that it is my opinion because it should have been clear that it was.

Should have sent Ty Masterpool

great starts and faster currently than Craig

He was having health issues, and who would have got him there?

Craig hasn't raced for a bit, he answered the call and did what he could.

Hampshire wasn't 100% and had some typical Hampshire bad luck, he could have been good if it shook out another way but that's racing.

Plessinger didn't do bad, other world class racers got the best of him.

I understand being bummed out after last year's win, but props to them all for going over there and putting in the effort.

That’s a tough call to consider it embarrassing.  Your guys I would say probably finished within the range I expected, albeit at the lower end.  The US has won plenty of times; can’t win them all it even expect to be in contention all the time.

Right now I’d say depth of talent in the US is low compared to the past.  Arguably three of the top 5 AMA riders at the moment aren’t American (Roczen and Lawrences).  Throw in Shimoda and Vialle and I’d say half of the top ten.  On top of that you have at least 3-4 450 GP riders who are on a par with Roczen and the Lawrences.  Most likely that’s a short term aberration.

Hard to say whether Deegan would have gone better than RJ; on the balance of things probably slightly better.  No doubt Chase would been a top 5 guy or thereabouts but even then it would have been a close thing even getting on the podium.

Track familiarity is an interesting point - Kenny and the Lawrences had little trouble adapting and they’ve been racing in the US for quite a few years now.  I feel the issue may be more in technique that is lacking for many home grown US riders.  JT even mentioned it during the broadcast when he said that the track surfaces in the US are almost universally softer and it allows riders to be more aggressive and that’s pretty much all they know.

Don’t call it embarrassing - take the licks and just say this year we weren’t good enough.

Plessinger finished 5th in the first moto, in front of Jett Lawrence and many others. You ever stop to use your brain and think there maybe was a problem in the second moto?

Maybe wait for information before using your fancy Jump-to-conclusions mat

The best should attend out of pride but it must be difficult right after a long grueling US season. These guys only have a short few weeks before the SX grind starts. I can't blame them for not wanting to go. Their job that pays is in the USA.

If my boss asked me to travel overseas for work without pay when I should be on a holiday....I'm gonna tell him to find someone else. That's the reality.

I agree we should want to go out of pride. Unfortunately not too much to be proud about being an American these days

Don’t forget moto 1 was against 250 riders; moto 3 was all 450 riders.  On a steep hilly track that would have been a big factor.

The ONLY embarrassing part for me was MXGP.com listing the Sunday Viewing times on CBS at 12, 1:00 and 2: PM EST.

Then I wake up at 10:30 to make a big lunch to watch for my guests and and its already over? Who the hell has those times on the links page?

The way I see it, that embarrassment should be aimed at the powers that be in US moto.

Remember this MXdN was rescheduled to suit the US because of the implementation of SMX. MXdN happens every year, Feld and MXSports need to respect that and plan their schedule around it.
The AMA needs to better fund the team’s costs.
Then there’s the position of team manager, nothing against RD, but if his appointment  compromises who supports the team, than he should be replaced by someone neutral.

Make those three changes and the top riders will be lining up to race.

Passive aggressive much? I'm sorry but this is an absolutely terrible take. Shit didn't go their way, neither did it for Canada. That is racing. Team USA had 2 great riders and a 3rd willing to go with little prep against the strongest field in all of MX. AP and RJ flat out throw down each and every time they throw their leg over a bike-true pros. Craig did the best he could given the circumstances and this is your response? Full props to these guys and they got to race in one of the most amazing races and weekends in all of moto. I'm sure as shit not on that line. Team USA found a way to go and represent through every obstacle.

Nice sentiments from such 'core' fans.   & you wonder why many riders are reluctant to participate in MXON when it's either win or be pilloried.

Confirms a lot about the nature of U.S.

Not embarrassed at all.  Proud we sent a team to be part of it even if our chances were slim for a top result, which is how most of the rest of the world participates.   The team members deserve respect more than just for showing up when "better" riders would or could not; they repped the country knowing it would be a tough row to hoe, and plenty of kooks would be ready to shoot them down.  Much, much respect.

Always extra fun when my team wins, but what a great event it was with some top motocross racing.
