There is a rumor of AC 222 to be Ducati's test rider/developer for their MX bike, Ducati has wads of $$$ to throw around at the moment and he would be able to race a car in the Dakar rally (Audi owns Ducati I think). Just a rumor I read on a euro site but where there is smoke there is fire!
What yall think?
They do own Duc.
Same thing is going around about Ken.
Probably why he only signed a 1 year extension with HEP.
AC heading up the European side and Kenny in the US maby?

One thing we know for sure the bike will have more power than anything on the track.
Well Ducati goes by "scorched earth" motorsport policy. They started it in WSBK (excluding Johnny Rea years) now they do it in MotoGP. Soon might come time in MX that you might need to spend 25k on Ducati to win any relevant title in mx...
You're probably right, so I'll finally count myself lucky that I'll never even win an irrelevant title 😂
You are spot on with MotoGp and WSBK. Rea is almost to the point of Marquez in MotoGP, Having to ride the bike so hard just to keep the Ducs in sight. Now even the KTM is beating up on them.
Factory teams are spending well over 25k.
Are you talking about Lorettas? Cause many of those classes the bikes are over 25k as well.
Well now we know it will just be a ktm copy like the triumph 😏😂
sarcasm and humor are lost on some you… man 🙄
Long, long way to go there. And the bike will have to be a commercial success along the way, which will be tough at an ultra premium price point
Think he means off the shop floor, before any modifications.
I'd assume so but I don't understand the point. Buy a $25k Ducati to win any meaningful title? Yeah there's a lot of money to win meaningful title, if Ducati builds a better bike then why not.
To win locally though? No. I've seen ragged out 90s 2 strokes pull the latest 450s off the line. Local racing comes down to the right wrist and the price of Ducatis won't impact anything except give the wealthy vet guys something else to fawn over. And I'm here for it.
Also. Ducati won't be charging 25k. Maybe more expensive than KTM but it'll be competitive on pricing.
If that was the case Colintrax then the local track should be full of Suzukis.
So more than the Stark Varg's 80hp?
Rumors been floating for a while now,
Lupino wich is also a good buddy off Tony will join Ducati to race and test the bike..
Pit Row
I would think if they plan to bring it to America they would want someone that can ride SX. I wouldn't think Tony would give them very much good direction there.
And your input is why you aren’t on the design team
And your response is why you are a douche. Just saying Tony will have great input for MX but it's not like he has any SX background. I'm a big fan of his but SX bikes are setup totally different we all know that.
Deleted my (late) post, when I realized there was already a thread regarding Tony heading to Ducati.
Well… the rumor seems to have legs. I was told that he’s racing the Italian series and 5 selected GP’s. This will definitely be a big deal in Italy. It will benefit Ducati with Tony’s input, hopefully they have had solid test riders during development of the bike.
Didn't think he would race any GP's again, that's pretty fucking awesome if there is any truth to it, looking forward to it.
Seems odd they are pushing full ktm promo now with his kid if Ducati contract is done and work started?
They likely arranged all that many months ago though which might have been before any Ducati talk had happened.
Remember how Liam Everts was 'contracted' to Yamaha ( for I think, 1 $ ) just before Stefan jumped ship to KTM.......
Done deal. Ambassador role with select races. He can do as much as he wants or just what's agreed to. Alessandro lupino is doing some testing for them as well.

KTM Press Release
A long, fruitful collaboration comes to an end this year as KTM and Tony Cairoli will separate to pursue new professional goals for 2024.
The Sicilian joined Red Bull KTM Factory Racing late in 2009 and made an immediate impact in his first season in 2010; winning the MX1 (now ‘MXGP’) title with the KTM 350 SX-F and then added a further four crowns consecutively. He then claimed the 2017 championship with the KTM 450 SX-F and has been a popular ambassador for the squad, the company and the sport for twelve years and to his Grand Prix retirement at the end of 2021.
Tony transitioned into a Team Manager role for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing for 2023 and has now decided to take his post-racing career in a different direction.
KTM and everyone at the Pierer Mobility Group wish to thank Tony for his energy and his excellence and for the unforgettable motocross memories.
Can't wait to see a picture of the frame next month followed by the engine next year!
