Then he should've done that and not gone on the podium afterwards saying he gave him the win as a gift. Remember, this didn't benefit anyone (including Jett) and only made the integrity of the sport look bad. To let him off without at least a warning when there's a clear rule against doing what he did would be seen as favoritism. You can skirt the rule through optics, just don't make it obvious and then brag about it on the podium.

Exactly. All of this plus it robbed the fans of a good race. Kenny said on pulp in his 15 years of racing he had never seen anybody do that, and for good reason lol, it was pointless. Just ride your friggin race.

You all would know I'm a big fan as well...hopefully not too ravenous, but as a fan I know I don't watch races to see a favorite rider give a win away.

Oh and I agree with your points as well...I still don't think Jett did anything malicious either, I just think he isn't really the sharpest tool in the shed...and I don't mean that in a derogatory manner, he is obviously intelligent but some of the things he does I think he does them before he thinks about the outcome...and I mean this mostly with some of the things that have rubbed people up the wrong way over the years.

I'm not sure that part is ever going to change, but I get the feeling he is getting a bit of coaching behind the scenes on how to behave himself

Probably appropriate.  I’d imagine the AMA officials had a good discussion to determine if there was any intent other than the obvious.

This is just me but I used to be a rabid football fan.  Then I started to believe that Vegas was determining game outcomes.  The news quickly buried reports of officials, coaches, players on the take, soured the sport for me.

I don't believe this is that type of situation but the rule was written for this EXACT situation.

And yeah, as people already, the podium speech is what made it worse. Would have been half as bad if he said something like "Yeah Kenny was faster and I didn't want to risk going down in a battle, so I settled for second."
