Right! And I would expect there to be cameras inside and/or outside the garage.

May be a dumb question but are these things reported to the police? Not to say much could or would be done but if there are security cameras, I would think they could be identified.

It's crazy that a random person is able to run back there, grab things, leave and take whatever with them, exit the stadium, all without being seen by anyone.

I'm sure they were seen by hundreds of people, but how does security or anyone else differentiate between moto fans that scored handouts from riders and teams or moto fans that stole items from riders and teams? As referenced earlier in the thread it's not unusual to see kids with armloads of lawfully obtained freebies. If you saw someone walking by in the pits with a rolled up Pirelli mat would you assume it was stolen? Not sure of the answer/solution, this stuff seems to happen at every race indoors and outdoors.

I thanked him & set my phone alarm for 1 hr. Never slept but I did cool down.  I,ve been in numerous trucking yards that hv stolen anything you could think of.

Seriously lmao by some of these comments you would have thought the race was in the middle of downtown. TBH Joliet isnt even in Chicago and these fuckers obviously knew where to go/etc and were familiar w/ the racing schedule.

I dont think saying "oh thats chicago for you" somehow trying to relate the crimes that happen in downtown to this very specific, niche, event that happened AN HOUR AWAY from the city are relevant lol.

and you think that area is better then the other LOLOLOL.

ok.

The fancy version of "fuck around and find out".

I'm a small town guy.  Been to the city...got my fill.

Out here in the sticks we have plenty of dumbasses but very few fuck wads.  They "tried it" and "found out".

It was some Ma & Pa ts it has a now abandoned motel in the back attached to it.  After delivery I,m waiting for a ld & doing other stuff. But I had to check it out. I found a open door in the back where there,s prostitues burnt out  in the back parking lot.  The motel was trashed. Pic is a Mexican biker gangs 3 wheeler. Haha I wish I could post multiple pics. In a near by town I scaled a ld going to Tx.  They had a wall of shame. Pics of thieves stealing in the store. The manager wrote super funny stuff on them with a thick marker.

Yes sir I know Newton.  The "thieves gallery" is pretty much in every liquor store or independent convenience store in Kansas.

The farther west you go from here there are so many derelict hotels, gas stations, restaurants...and sketchy places.  When I'm traveling to the coast and back...I fill up at every decent place.  I never travel at night anymore which used to be my thing.  Remember when you could get a motel room at 7 a.m. and sleep all day?  Nope...not any more.

Mostly there's no consequences because they aren't even caught.

Criminals are figuring out that most people aren't interested in getting involved.  I don't think I would get involved either when somebody is stealing Coach purses from Macy's.  And if I worked there for $20/hour I'm not risking my safety either.

Even non-criminals now think it's fine to do things like take your dog into the grocery store.  Nobody is going to tell them "no".

Ok buckaroo .. so following this logic, you be fine with & feel it's justified if your kid was caught stealing a fucking pit mat & the penalty imposed was the loss of your childs hand ?       You'd be on board with that ?

I'm from a town of less than 100, trailers and cars get stolen, and meth heads drill holes in anhydrous tanks. Trust me, it gets tried A LOT.

I don't know if the lack of punishment is the problem as much as people not caring about others , or justifying what they are doing.  Oh it's a big corporation that screws their workers, or  whatever.

I personally do not do everything I think I could get away with, Do YOU?

I think it's more of a morality problem. I don't steal shit from people because I would not want my stuff stolen.

It's not so simple as lack of punishment, Prisons are full of people with life sentences.  I'm not saying I know how to fix it. But its not as simple as TV news makes it out to be.

There are always going to be criminals who commit petty crime or violent crime but the severity of punishment/laws are directly related to the crime rate.   You can get caned (beat with a cane) for petty crime in Singapore.  A lot of these crimes are kids who would not be doing them if they knew they would get punished for it.  You can get fined $2000 for chewing gum or littering in Singapore.  If you haven't been there, you can eat off the sidewalks it's so clean.  Meanwhile, people throw their trash out the windows here because there's no steep penalty for it.   Start with caning or public hanging in LA for the smash and grabs and watch what happens to the crime rate.  Start fining people $2000 for littering and watch what happens.  It's directly related.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crime rates in Singapore are some of the lowest in the world, with petty crimes such as pickpocketing and street theft rarely occurring, and violent crime being extremely rare.[1] Penalties for drug offences such as trafficking in Singapore are severe, and include the death penalty.[2]

Singapore's law enforcement system has resulted in crime being extremely low as compared to other developed nations and the world in general. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Safe Cities Index, Singapore was often ranked as the safest or one of the safest in the world, especially in regards to digital, personal and infrastructure security.[3] The country also ranks highly on the Global Peace Index, being consistently placed in the top 10 and the highest in Asia for the past decade.

Singapore was also ranked first safest country/area (2022) in the Global Law and Order Index[4] that is based on people's experiences and perceptions such as feeling safe while walking alone at night and confidence in the police, third safest city (2021)[5] by the Economist Intelligence Unit that covers digital, health, infrastructure and environmental security,[6] and 24th safest out of 136 countries (2021) [7] in the Global Organised Crime Index[8] by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.

If anyone sees someone at their local track with a Dylan Ferrandis bike stand, some Pirelli bike mats, team pit boards, etc...kick them in the balls. Laughing There was a small issue with fans just running into the garages in the second moto, grabbing easy-to-snag stuff, and running off.

ML that sucks I agree with all except they are certainly not fans. Thugs. dirtbags, criminals, thieves, politician parasites, but not fans. Fans are the foundation of the activity we support.  We as in US the fans dont do that crap and also wouldn't tolerate seeing it. However agreed some swift justice would be nice. Two options be prepared or be a victim. Peace

First off, my kid wouldn't be stealing.    If he did, he'd damn well know the consequences and pay them.

The point is....there are NO consequences anymore....there is no fear of punishment.  That is why society is going to shit right now.

You make an example of a few and the shit stops.

MX & SX attracts a lot of trash. A lot of these "fans" have no real interest in the racing, but just a cool place to go and get drunk and shit faced for them. A lot of thug types too, just look at some of the tailgaters at a SX race. Making off with some goods is icing on the cake for them.

I 100% agree with you but also no one cares about the 10 commandments either. Or they don't know them or care to know them.
