I'm sure they were seen by hundreds of people, but how does security or anyone else differentiate between moto fans that scored handouts from riders and teams or moto fans that stole items from riders and teams? As referenced earlier in the thread it's not unusual to see kids with armloads of lawfully obtained freebies. If you saw someone walking by in the pits with a rolled up Pirelli mat would you assume it was stolen? Not sure of the answer/solution, this stuff seems to happen at every race indoors and outdoors.

I talked to a state police officer at Thornton,s in Romeoville. My co said I had to do my inspection at this secluded yard. B4 I left. I got into it big time about I want my thousands of dollars that you owe me, etc b4 that. Drivers hv been murdered doing this in Chicago by the Eastern Europeans. 1 was beaten real bad hands tied behind his back & hung in a trl. I would take 20 rounds to my chest but no one on earth is going to hang me. The black officer said I don’t want to get involved. Talking with him I realized that the cops take bride money & I,m in a real bad spot. I refused to go to the yard. Called Bolingbrook police they didn’t want to get involved. Then you wonder why drivers end up shooting or beating the thief scumbags. People hv no idea of the corruption & organized crime & slavery in Chicago. It was so hot leaving after a long day of stress & 3-4 hrs moving out of the trk. I had to take my shirt off . My van was covered in gravel dust sitting in traffic I felt like I was going to pass out my heart was racing. I was cleaning my windows at the i55 ts gas island. And a all blacked out bmw pulls up & parks weird by me. I,m ready for gun shots. Then he left. I had to wait for dark & cooler temps to leave town. I bought a poweraide & sat upstairs. Tried to sleep but a employee kept coming in. Cool Mexican said follow me . He took me too a back locked room that had ac & said sit here the camera won’t see you. I thanked him & set my phone alarm for 1 hr. Never slept but I did cool down. I,ve been in numerous trucking yards that hv stolen anything you could think of.

It was some Ma & Pa ts it has a now abandoned motel in the back attached to it. After delivery I,m waiting for a ld & doing other stuff. But I had to check it out. In a near by town I scaled a ld going to Tx. They had a wall of shame. Pics of thieves stealing in the store. The manager wrote super funny stuff on them with a thick marker.

The farther west you go from here there are so many derelict hotels, gas stations, restaurants...and sketchy places. When I'm traveling to the coast and back...I fill up at every decent place. I never travel at night anymore which used to be my thing. Remember when you could get a motel room at 7 a.m. and sleep all day? Nope...not any more.

Criminals are figuring out that most people aren't interested in getting involved. I don't think I would get involved either when somebody is stealing Coach purses from Macy's. And if I worked there for $20/hour I'm not risking my safety either.
Even non-criminals now think it's fine to do things like take your dog into the grocery store. Nobody is going to tell them "no".

I'm from a town of less than 100, trailers and cars get stolen, and meth heads drill holes in anhydrous tanks. Trust me, it gets tried A LOT.
I don't know if the lack of punishment is the problem as much as people not caring about others , or justifying what they are doing. Oh it's a big corporation that screws their workers, or whatever.

I think it's more of a morality problem. I don't steal shit from people because I would not want my stuff stolen.
It's not so simple as lack of punishment, Prisons are full of people with life sentences. I'm not saying I know how to fix it. But its not as simple as TV news makes it out to be.

There are always going to be criminals who commit petty crime or violent crime but the severity of punishment/laws are directly related to the crime rate. You can get caned (beat with a cane) for petty crime in Singapore. A lot of these crimes are kids who would not be doing them if they knew they would get punished for it. You can get fined $2000 for chewing gum or littering in Singapore. If you haven't been there, you can eat off the sidewalks it's so clean. Meanwhile, people throw their trash out the windows here because there's no steep penalty for it. Start with caning or public hanging in LA for the smash and grabs and watch what happens to the crime rate. Start fining people $2000 for littering and watch what happens. It's directly related.
