I got roosted really bad yesterday and damn did it hurt. Lol. We all have been there. I was trying to explain to someone that doesn’t ride why it hurts so bad. 🤣 I remember a number of something like 120mph coming off the rear wheel but wouldn’t be surprised if it was more? Anyone have any better guesses or data?

In 2006 on the first lap of a race, I was 2nd going up a hill, the guy in front riding an RM250, his rear wheel unloaded over a bump, he had the throttle pinned, when he landed a stone came off his rear wheel and hit me right between the eyes, gouging the goggle lens and cutting my skin.
at the end of the race my face was covered on blood.
The lens was gouged through, not cracked or broken. I kept that lens for years as an example to anyone who didn’t wear goggles.
about tree fiddy
You win the internet for the weekend.
The maximum speed of roast is the maximum speed of the bike in whatever gear it's in, plus the speed you are traveling into it, 1+1=2!

Sooo, about tree fiddy?
Roast usually only travels a few miles per hour before butchering……..!
Dirt roost is bad enough, rocks are a whole different story. I've been roosted by rocks bad enough to kink the front brake line.
I’m not sure, but I do know that it hurt like hell when I was a 125 beginner and had to follow CR500s up Horsepower Hill at Washougal because they grouped practice by bike color…
i always say it feels like a paint ball with no shirt on
Pics or ut didn't happen. Jk but can't believe you didn't get a picture of that
Milestone had the worst roost.
Gypsy tales just came in his pants
My mind was elsewhere!
Edit it back to roast so it doesn’t look like I’ve completely lost my mind……yet!!!!
😎
Done, now I'm hungry!
I have a bin with headers from various bikes through the years, two and four strokes, all dented to shit from roost. We have lots of rock in the Northeast and them shits hurt....and people wonder why I run hand guards on every bike I own. Two weeks ago the fork guard on my 450 exploded from my friend's hefty right hand.
I took my share of roost, wearing open face helmets LOL, my age is showing. Oklahoma dirt clod rock mix roost was bad. Back when Jesse James was a wee lad Trey Jorski blew past me in practice at the old 59th and Douglas track in Oklahoma City. Roosted me bad and I caught a rock/dirt clod mix about the size of a baseball square in the chest. Hurt way worse than getting thumped by a fast ball. I had a chest protector next race. Back then some guys were wearing baseball catcher chest protectors. We didn’t have a lot of safety gear in the early days.
Getting roosted by a 400 Maico, was similar to a religious experience. Therefore when I’m at the track and fast guy are tearing it up on 450’s. I pull off set in my chair or walk around and talk to some of the other old guys.
Pit Row
Fast enough to cost you a National Championship.
Skip to 1:30:10 if it starts at the beginning.
What it's like trying to dodge roost at washougal
This thread reminded me of the drone getting hit by rj's roost at high point about 40 ft in the air
Yeah that was insane!!
I love a good roast.
@BAD10 can you change the spelling of the title to roast, we we can discuss roasts?
My first race I'd never been roosted before...being my first race and feeling super intimidated I wanted to hang back and just ride from the back.
I'll never forget the shock of being roosted....the track was pretty rocky and I wasn't prepared for the noise and pain levels of what it was like. I'll admit I cried out more from the shock and awe from it.
A paintball gun is about 300 ft/s or 200 mph. Roost has way more volume and hurts worse than a single paintball.
And if you're pinned you're driving into the roost at 20-40 mph.
So I wouldn't be surprised if roost could be 250-300 mph relative to your face.
Is this satire? Everyone is joking right? Roost flying backwards at 120mph off a bike that can only go 70mph? Where is all this velocity coming from?
Are you standstill behind someone roosting you? Speed doenst really matter as much as object size, imagine golf ball size rock coming or even bigger that doesnt need 70mph to hurt when you moving same time forward. Got golf ball size rock to goggle last race and that broke roll off system instantly in pieces.
With or without roost boost?
Another reason why I have always worn a HRP flack jack. I do not bruise easily but always had small roost bruises on my biceps.
