Statement Regarding Rumors and Current Condition of 2023 World Supercross Series

Even for someone like me who wasn’t a fan of how the series tried to take away from outdoors(and didn’t mind if if failed), this wsx is getting cringey. I feel bad for all involved at this point. 

If they are canceling more rounds, I’d say that you could put a fork in it…..

That's not a reassuring statement. I'd say there's alot of riders and teams rethinking their plans now.

Hate to see anything with racing not work out. But why would you offer millions for a series with not the best riders to offer ? 

This was doomed from the start and anybody that has been around sports in general new this. 

Maybe this will be the official announcement of the cancelation of the French round....

I really can't figure out how you can inspire anyone any confidence (potential investors, potential ticket buyers, staff, teams, racers...) when you fail to organize four rounds of your championship in a row...

Maybe, just maybe they should have spent a little more time planning before they tried to rush this thing into existence. Its a shame because they had some decent ideas and it was another source of income for a lot of riders....

The problem is, in the long run, the riders income is mostly games and smoke...

When you distribute generously money that's not yours, don't sell that much tickets and cancel one race after another, how long can it last?

Just imagine being Kenny. You don't re-sign with factory Honda based on a WSX deal that now probably won't even happen...

I agree with you and This could be a question for ML but I’m guessing (and could be completely wrong). But a guy like Kenny probably demands a considerable amount of cash up front…. If not all.  They absolutely HAD to lock him in.. I don’t think him or his team (agents, lawyers, family) would be cool with a pay per race basis on an experimental series.  Especially when he is the marquee guy/ face of the series.  That’s a up front paid in fool (yes pun and spelling intended) deal. 

I though saying nothing was bad , a press release saying nothing is even worse

100%, saying there isn’t a problem is acknowledging the possibility that there is a problem. 

I 100% agree with that statement, Kenny has pulled he score of the century with this deal, 2 million dollars for just showing up to a race.

Steve Astephen (Kenny's manager) is smart and knows how to make deals, Ken got paid his full contract in 2017 despite only doing 3/29 races, and it was written on the first Honda-Roczen deal, that Ken would get paid his full salary even if he got injured, I'm pretty sure that Ken has already got the 2 million dollars of 2023, not sure about the other 4 million of 2024 and 2025

I never understood the guys racing it now and how the last 3 are a playoff , so the guys that already raced lose their point standings and it starts over?

The world supercross series is in the trouble. Super motocross, the American series, is doing just fine. 

The next couple of rounds are supposedly canceled per some riders that were suppose to compete in them and the larger rumor is that their primary source of funding has pulled out.
