So you admit that you can now see the value in this technology for some people but still want to call it a gimmicky money grab? How does that make sense?
You kind of deserve it.
Interesting that you would take a shot at a company for providing a product that includes extra features to users that want them.
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Because not everybody who buys helmets ride MX tracks. Lots of people riding trails, solo etc that could benefit from this technology.
Dude just go buy the helmet you want to buy and quiet down.
You need to stop digging.
Interesting that you would take shot at a product you know nothing about and have no intension of buying.
After seeing this I'm somewhat surprised LitPro or someone else hasn't tried to make their own helmet with GPS tracking. Makes sense, get GPS built in and not have to worry about where to stick the separate GPS device. Seems interesting concept, it'll be weird saying "I need to charge my helmet".
$7.99 per month for helmet technology. Money grab
Do you not think it cost fly more money to produce this helmet? Of course it’s going to cost more.
You’re not charged when 911 is dialed. And you’re not charged if no aid or services are rendered.
What product of theirs isn't a money grab? Should we criticize gear with a color that costs extra? I'm not really sure I understand the "money grab" jab at a for profit company.
I’d rather die alone knocked out in the woods, than wear Fly
I never leave pavement without one.👍
Cool story Bro👍
We would rather that also.
Big improvements! The Swap video with JT$ explaining everything is fantastic.
This is the first moto helmet that offers any type of crash impact data for you, parents, or medical staff to see immediately.
I'm excited Fly certified to ECE 22.06, joining Leatt, Airoh, Klim, and Fox. The next helmet I buy will be ECE 22.06 certified and I definitely want this one!!!
Pit Row
Nothing is stopping you
Yup, guilty here. Went one time to the ER early afternoon in the fall. Beautiful day so wearing a tank and shorts. They didn't think what I had was important so they let me sit for many hours. Pretty soon it got so cold that evening I had to call my daughter to bring a jacket. She spilt the beans, I think I was in more trouble for not telling that I went to the ER than the reason why I went to the ER.
We are lucky to be getting any data at all!
Concussions are diagnosed by a doctor. Event data may help with the diagnosis but cannot be the only factor.
Its for the cell signal and some of the features. You still get a bunch of features without paying the extra $$. Just like a cell phone. You can use some of the features of a smartphone without a contract. But if you want all the features of your phone You have to pay a monthly fee. If You are arguing its money grab, than every product ever made is a money grab also. Its an added feature that people can choose to buy or not buy.
I'm not sure if it said how the feature worked in the info I read, but it said it can also contact other riders that are wearing a helmet with the same tech. I don't know if that works on cell signal or if it could still work with a much shorter range helmet to helmet. If this version doesn't maybe a future one will. I like the idea, and I can see many other things that could be integrated into a smart helmet. Like communication with a flagging system . And lights that could light up under the visor to indicate when you are coming up on a downed rider.
If my helmet doesn’t know, my body sure will.
i applaud ingenious applications , but is the helmet as safe as my 6D?
Lmfao. Oh man this is so true and had me literally laughing out loud.
Lol dude just admit you’re fucking wrong and move on. This is just sad at this point
That is really good information about Riddell's custom fitment. My oldest son has a very oddly shaped head because of something that happened during birth and I've spent so much money on trying to find decently fitting motorcycle helmets. I actually stopped progressing him on a dirt bike because his speed (not very much of it) started to make me really worry about his helmet fitment. I wish the off-road helmet manufacturers could come up with some type of custom fitment tech for the consumer.
Are Fly helmets better for oval heads or round heads?
Well, it will provide extra protection for you. It can be a matter of seconds if you are out. If someone falls and is alone on a lap on a MX track, it can take several minutes before another rider comes by or your friend in the paddock realize you are out.
I will argue the opposite from what you say. Just as any addition in safety to a helmet, it is not always applicable in 100% of the scenarios.
So this addition, will make it safer to ride if you use it to its full potential.
Pretty much helmet made is safe for one severe crash and should be tossed afterwards. That's why you should always check your foam to see if it's cracked or indented after a crash. I doubt they would ever make crumple helmets if I'm reading your comment correctly.
Several of my riding friends have my wife's contact info in the event I am wrecked enough that I can't call. It's a good back up idea.
