If he does or he doesn't unless Kickstart Ken comes back we will never know. He certainly claims to be playing this game.
Go watch 2008 Freestone, James’ pass on Millsaps 🤯
I don't even need to because I know exactly which pass you mean lol.
Potentially his one “weakness” is he is still young and building his base to wrangle a 450 for 2 motos at events like Southwick.

Go to the homepage. Chase his interviewed and says he's still not feeling quite right. I have no doubt he'll. be up running with Jett in the next few races. Chase is always good at Washougal and Unadilla.

Getting a dominant rider every now and then isn't a bad thing overall. When RC ,RV , Tomac and Stew went and mopped everyone......They all had to pick up their game. Plus , this field is so thin in the 450 class right now , it's tough to gauge. Take it for what it is.....Jett's riding is a thing of beauty to watch. Can't knock the dude for just being incredible.
I know..... Jetts a joke man........
i still struggle to believe Jetts only 19... and this is how his 450 career has started.
Crazy to think he is already climbing all time wins list... and we are only halfway through his first season.
That Jordan guy keeps scoring on everyone…
when you got it.. you got it.
some people are just different.
I like watching when aliens land here with us.👽
His fitness is underrated. His bike skill hides how top level his fitness is.
Did you watch those seasons? RC lead all but 13 laps in 04. Usually his best lap was 1.5 - 2 seconds better then 2nd.
We are half way and how many laps did Jett not lead?
Doing a little research
2002 - RC lead 352/365 laps
2004 - RC lead 370/382 laps
2008 - Bubba lead 369/382 laps Alessi led the other 13 laps.
Kenny lead 16 laps at High Point this year don’t think anyone else has lead a lap.
Not taking anything away from Jett here but don’t forget about how dominant the other perfect seasons have been, I’m 99% sure that the other perfect season guys had the fastest laps in every moto as well as well as an avg margin of victory of well over 20 seconds at least in the RC years.
Although it’s pointless “if this guy was riding, etc”
One gauge is that Chase has run Tomac down in the past, and on occasions gapped him.
Jet can only beat the guys that line up, and there’s over 90 of the best in the world trying!!
I had a look at list the other day.
And in all time mx wins 250 and 450.
Jett is ranked 16th
Chase is ranked 58th.
it made me think about chase and that in 250mx he wasnt very good. Only the last year or 2 he has been good in 450mx. Evaluating both their mx careers Jett should be beating chase.
Overall ama wins ( 250mx, 450sx,450mx)
Jett is 28th
Chase is 44th
Jett hasn't always lead!
Got a story for ya...
Years ago, when I was a Cycle News reporter covering the races, late in the season, right before an interview with Ricky, jokingly I said, "You need to slow down and let someone else win." He looked at me weird and lightly shook his head and it was not a fun interview after that.
I quickly learned that he was programmed to win, every race possible and that my stupid remark bothered him and that he would never even think or consider doing that to make it interesting for us, the fans.
I see the same now with Jett, the kid does not want to lose, and now I shake my head when I see the title of your post and remember back to 99 or 2000 and my moment with Ricky.
I was never programmed to win like this so I don't know that feeling and I would think that most of us on the board aren't either (speculation of course) but to Jett, this season is NO JOKE.
DD
Tomac and RV were great but never fully dominated like this. Certainly not at 19 years old on a 450. We’ll see how long this can last but I think there is just a realization setting in that the next 6-8 years of 450 racing will be very boring predictable.
To make it even scarier, I am not even sure we’ve seen Jett pushing anywhere close to 100% for an entire moto yet.
Pit Row
I think a lot of people are missing the point when they try to compare Jett Lawrence to Carmichael, Stewart or Villiopoto.. that's apples and oranges... none of them came out and dominated the big boy' class from their very first moto of their first season and maintained that dominance race after race. Perhaps many have forgotten that Carmichael had a rough time of it.. his spectacular style on a 125cc didn't translate directly to the bigger bikes.. he was all over the place at first on the big bikes, it wasn't pretty, and the other top riders often commented that he was dangerously out of control. They did recognize he wanted it more than they did and RC achieved it by shear will, even more than talent. Stewart was the same.. either win or crash. Villipoto and Tomac, as great as they were, were not flawless either. And with the regard to evolution to the top of the heap, Sexton has had his ups and downs, but he is early in his career and it seemed he was making the eventual progression to soon best Tomac on a regular basis (who is late in his career), but Lawrence seems to be closing that opportunity for Sexton's chance at "GOATness". I wouldn't compare Lawrence's current situation to what all the greats of the past eventually achieved. I dont think we have seen any rider come in and dominate this easily, this fast and this consistently, right from the start. True that some of the best talent is missing this season, but Sexton was the biggest threat to begin with, and maybe Tomac, but the other top riders that are out would probably not have been a real threat. Carmichael, Villipoto, Tomac, Steward were on the ground a lot in their early days.. but Lawrence seems to have skipped that first painful step to becoming a GOAT. Who know what is in store for him, but at the least, it is hard to argue it is a hell of a start.
That’s mean.
How good
I dont get all this hate, Jett has elevated the sport to a new level like RC and Stew. Was there this much bitching when they were doing this same very thing?
Man Stew was flying, god dam that's fun to watch.
No hate, big fan of Jett, like watching him ride and seeing the effortless speed and style, I quite like seeing Honda on top again for nostalgic reasons, and how he won at MXdN (which was impressive but I didn't put a lot of stock into at the time, trying to stay objective) and then showed up for outdoors and has absolutely cleaned up, it's all incredibly impressive besides any asterisks people try and put alongside it...
But it certainly makes for a dull 450 class given other battles aren't really taking place to top up the excitement, that's all.
I will say I did not expect Jett to run away with this like he has. I knew he would be damn good but not this good. That being said....if Chase was 100% and Tomac was here this might be totally different but hey, you gata be in it to win it. I can't throw any shade at Jett for staying healthy and riding so well. I can't even compare him to RC or Stew because unlike them he rides too smooth and effortless, it looks like he's out there putting around meanwhile putting down lap times 2+ seconds faster than anyone.
I'm not a Lawrence fan boi or hater, I just want to see good close hard racing. I'm hoping Chase can get back to 100% asap because he seems to be the only person who could give Jett a real battle at this moment. The best thing is if we all step back for a second just realize that both of these dudes are super young, coming into their prime and we should be seeing this battle for the next several years. This isn't like when RC finally beat McGrath when he was on the verge of retirement or when Stew beat RC on the verge of retirement....both Chase and Jett have many years left so this should only get better.
It's simply coz he isnt American.
And that's why you see so many if tomac was there comments. Coz he is amercias last saviour.
Because the field was comparatively thinner than this years!
I find it strange that people say this season has no depth in the 450 class. There was no Depth when RC's perfect season. There was no one close to his speed injured, uninjured, coming back from injury. He was clearly the best.
If anything is would be more remarkable for Jett to win out this season as he does have a couple of riders who are just as good as him on his day, RC never had anyone as good as him on any day on a MX track until James came along.
This...
Jett's technique looks to me like a modern era Stefan Everts. Unbelievable how smooth he is riding.
After the 2nd moto at Southwick he showed that he is still a human. Seemed done for the day.
Without getting into semantics of counting laps or seconds two words sum things up. Talent pool, cannot be compared. The Goat and Bubba will confirm this.
