Sounds like he isn’t getting along with the bike. Said in a post-race interview the new bike is better for SX and worse for MX compared to the ‘22.
I’m pretty sure he was happy to be third, the gap doesn’t matter, he didn’t need to go faster to secure a podium. He’s still building, only been back on a bike six weeks after a long time off.
I'm sure he'll get faster. Both Hondas boys just finished championship seasons a week ago, they're at race pace.
14 has just been practicing so he'll speed up, but still think it will be the Honda show this year with some webb in there probably.
Time off and prepping? He said he had only been back on the bike for 2 weeks.

Third is a hell of a ride.. 45 seconds back isn't that bad when you look at the leaders basically turning in consistent fast laps and not backing off while Ferrandis was just happy to aim for the podium in his first race.
I doubt Ferrandis was putting in everything he had for that moto. He would have eased off with his comfortable third. He had the least pressure of anyone in the top 5.
I thought he said he only had 3 weeks on the bike. If that's the case then that's a hell of a ride given how much he's missed the last couple of years. Don't be surprised if he races himself into shape within the next handful of rounds, he's very much a contender for this championship.
It was kind of painful to see Jett's bike on the stand, with him sitting there with a bottle of water and DF is just pulling off the track.
I guess i missed the memo. All the preseason shows made it sound like hes been motoing down for a while now and was ready to battle for the title. I was hoping to see the 21 dylan but thats a big gap to cover imo.
I wouldn’t go to much of pala , he’s not raced for a while and on a new bike for outdoors , he will pick it up , that being said the Honda boys rode awesome , I think all 3 will take wins this year but palas a strange track reuslts wise , Jett looks insane on that 450
He will get better, even if he got to his championship form I don't think it would change much with the other two upfront.
Yeah only beat all the top guys..
Ferrandis has got to be happy with that ride!! Look out if he stays healthy and stays up front.
Dude is an animal. I’m a Jett Fan but it’s a 3 way battle this year! I know, I know it’s only the first round….
Dylan did exactly what was needed. Jett and Chase have been doing 450 motos for a while now.
What’s with the downvotes? He absolutely hates the bike.
Maybe he might finally call DV12 back?? one can hope, right?
They literally said at the start of the broadcast the team said he wasn't anywhere near 100%. He just got on the bike. The narrative that he was sitting out sx healthy was a myth
Not getting along with the bike but got 3rd after all that time off? I think he'll be fine.
No way David is moving to Florida. Lol

The mods really need to get rid of the thumbs up/thumbs down. Or at least add emoji replies. The downvotes are out of control, but you can't tell the reason. For example, in your post people could be downvoting because:
1-they think he is getting along with the bike
2-they think you're making it up that he isn't getting along with the bike
3-they don't like that he isn't getting along with the bike
4-they don't like that the '23 bike isn't as good for mx
5-they don't agree that the '23 bike isn't as good for mx
6-they don't like what he said in the interview
7-they don't like Yamaha's
8-they don't like Dylan
9-they don't like you
He actually said he had to dig deep to keep 3rd. I’m sure he will get faster. I didn’t think he would be that far off the pace. They referenced his crash in Houston but he came back after that and crashed in press day. So maybe the second hit really did him in.
Actually, I had him 5 th or 6th, so 45 seconds back sounds about right.
First race back gets on the podium. I think we can cut him some slack.
I'd hold off on any assessments of Ferrandis or counting him out for the title. The 2021 outdoor series is a clear example of what that dude is capable of. I believe him that he isn't in sync yet with the new bike, and he hasn't had very many gate drops in the last year or so. Based on 2021 outdoors, I can see him as a major threat for the title if he stays healthy and they get the bike suited to him within the next two or three rounds.
The pulp mx after race podcast said he’s been on the bike for 5 to 6 weeks.
Dylan's not happy with the riding position of his bike, especially the foot pegs. Even him says it's weird. The head injury he had was gnarly, a lot more than he tought at first. He's also pretty vocal about the lack of testing he had on this 23 bike for Outdoors. Considering all that, he did VERY good for his come back. It's gonna be difficult for the title i think, but he's gonnna compete for race wins around High Point or Red Bud.
Everything considered, I think he did very well.
“Obviously, we made the podium with a bike that not everybody is very confident on,” Ferrandis told MotoOnline. “We’re coming back from injuries too, so I think the day that we’re confident and stronger on the bike, we can do much better."
“I really feel like in the first moto that I wasn’t even trying, I was just trying to understand what the bike was doing and I got massive arm-pump, so I was pretty far from 100 percent. I think the day we figure all of this out, I can fight with the Honda boys.”
“When you come back from such an injury like I had, you never know what to expect,” he said. “So yeah, very happy. The last few weeks I was struggling a little with the bike, we did a lot of testing. The chassis on the new 2023 was very different compared to what I rode in 2021 and 2022, so we had to deal with that. I wasn’t expecting to be that great, but I made it work, so I’m very happy.”
Who did their outdoor testing if Dylan was not fit and Tomac was full SX mode until injury?
He didnt look comfortable on bike but again that track is different ones they are training.
Who had Ferrandis being 45 seconds off the top 2? Everyone who knows he’s only raced 3 1/2 times in 2023.
I think he’s just a Ny Strip steak away from being closer to the front
So does he switch teams for 24? He's out of his contract right? Where would he go? Kawi?
