Nailed it.
Give me a break bro….
I’ll bet you $1,000 that Matthes’ listener #s haven’t dropped even 1% since that incident.
bunch of crybabies on here are more worked up about claimgate than any of the parties who were actually involved.
Ouch, did not mean to hurt anyone feelings... Please don't ban me from the sport or this forum for disrespecting the Holy Authority of the sport. Geez. Hope home life is okay.
The privateer help is definitely great, but that is not the point of this post. Having all the top players dropping by on the show is only better. Any abstention of a top pro is definitely noticed. At some point bridges will have to be amended. Unless we want it to be like the high school cliques thing.
Do you ride much in Tokyo? How are things there, track wise? So many questions. Cheers
In actual reality mathes gave nothing to the privateers.
Us fans did. Maybe not even his listener. Coz the raffle ticket purchases might not even listen to pulp.
Good on him that he created a raffle. Yamaha donated the bike. Fans bought the tickets. But don't act like pulp gave the money to the privateers coz he didn't.
If the money was going into his pocket no1 would have bought the tickets.
Again he deserves recognition for having the idea of the raffle. But if another media source had the idea like racer x. They would pretty much raise the same amount of money for the privateers.
So good on mathes for having the raffle. But it's far from his money.

Looking at it plainly, you are right.
But what other media does as much fundraising/profile raising as Matthes?? They all significantly less, if even at all.
I mean, we are on VitalMX the biggest community engagement in Mx, but from the outside (and maybe more), it seems they contribute fuck all to anything/one in the industry.
Well do you see any other media outlet actually doing it?
No ya don't, the amount of work behind the scenes would be bloody enormous, get off ya high horse and have a go at it yourself, with your attitude you could team up with cooksy and give it a go, like 2 peas in a pod you and him are
The reason for my reply. The way Blockheads is saying it is like it's out of matthes pocket. He literally says he could have pocketed the 150k.
Nah....
Matthes is fund raising for the privateers. And good on him for doing it. He should be praised.
But it's not his money and it never was, is or will be. It's money from the fans.
So again. Matthes is a hero for providing the source to get the privateers this money.
But it's not matthes money. And ppl are acting like it is his money. That's the only reason I made that statement.
That's why I said he deserves the praise for creating the raffle.
But blockhead is saying its 150k out of pulps pocket. And that is zero percent true.
Matthes will be just fine not getting any Lawrence interviews, and the Lawrences will be just fine not doing Pulp. You can still enjoy both things.
The Lawrence Bro's don't do clowns. They are also are willing to take the chance and venture out of the closed loop of the insider MX community.
Like them or not you have to respect them.
Oh the irony….
Was gonna say, they're trying to run a circus with all the donuts and fender guitars and watches and cars and all that. Steve has his schtick but he eats and breathes racing.
If the Lawrences (and deegans) grow the sport, that's great, but the diehards will always see through moneygrabs and inauthenticity. Becoming the lewis Hamilton of MX has its downsides too...
Yeah, a handful of people on vital are the only people left on the planet that care.
Steve has the sense of humor of a dried grapefruit.
And takes himself waay too seriously.
Those guys seemed cool. Now they come across as spoiled babies. Wah...someone said something I didn't like.
I know they're kids but get some thicker skin.
They arent kids
If Steve could manage to grow when RC boycotted him I think he'll be fine with or without the Lawrences, as they also will be without him. Not every rider gets along with every media outlet.
They heard it about it from JT's hair and skinny jeans
Pit Row
I don't listen to Pulp, but that figure is kind of extra small potatoes in the real adult world.
I'm confident that both Lawrence brothers will survive the Vitard tantrum about not being on that podcast...
Strategy. To increase the hype.
Maybe they'll only do GYPSY TALES.
Off to a good start.
Everyone will be fine either way, but it’s annoying that once again a rider is being pretty silly about a media member having an opinion about something related to the riders race or actions, they get their panties in a wad, and more so that no one around them tell them to pull their head in.
The scrutiny that major sport’s athletes get would make half these dudes cry the way they carry on. They are more than entitled to not like it but jeeebus it’s not a good look. They’ll cite the moto media professionalism no doubt but it’s really just a shit show from start to finish.
I'm not going to lie he did much better than I expected. With that said he has always done great at Pala, I think he has never lost a moto there right? But it's the first race of the year and Chase was definetly sporting a concussion during the race but was still on him in the second moto. Not a fan of Jett, I do like Hunter, but the 450s Outdoors is completely wide open without Eli imo. I still think Chase, AP, and 100% healthy Dylan will give him problems on the upcoming tracks. Dylan needs to get DV back as his coach as well. Hangtown will be a good indicator this week.
Damn NorCalRedRyder, how much you gonna dislike Jett next year when he signs with Stark ?
Why does Tomac need to be out for the 450 class to be wide open? Chase was in the hunt until the very last moto last year. Chase also dominated Pala last year and just got beat (closely) by Jett. Even if Tomac was there this would be a 3 rider battle, not just a Tomac runaway.
They seem to be doing a great job of controlling their career and public image. There's no upside for them to do the show and only possibly distraction, downside. So why do it?
TM
Just take the L, man. There's nothing about Jett or Hunter's race craft that should give anyone any reason to expect a "rude awakening." If Ferrandis can win in 21 as a rookie, there should be absolutely nothing surprising about Jett winning. He's been a level above anywhere Ferrandis was on a 250, especially outdoors even as a 17/18 y/o. Sometimes people just have more talent. Jett is 9 years younger than Ferrandis and is only going to get better. It's very possible Ferrandis is past his prime.
How’s the crow taste?
Jett has lost motos at Pala, but he hasn't lost a race.
