Deegan Press Conference Comment

Apparently you didn't notice it was the last lap on the last turn of the LCQ with Chambers.  Wasn't going to be another trip through the whoops.

He acted like a spoiled, entitled little kid.

2. don't know about you guys, but my 17y old self couldn't have done much better on a global stage answering questions designed to instigate me and bring about me putting my foot in my mouth. Deegan did fine, albeit awkward, but again, I probably couldn't have done much better at 17y old. Shit, I was asking "Would you like fries with that?" at his age.

I don't think he meant any disrespect with the comment...remember some of the absolute clangers Jett has made in interviews since he came onto the scene?  Younger minds generally blurt first, think later.  The word maturity exists for a reason...it comes with time.

Jordan`s entire career has been riddled with accidents and poor choices.

Well Smith is lucky to have the ride and at this point is the number 3 rider on the team. And will not be there next year. And if he goes after Deegan he may not make the end of the season. And what is this teammate talk? There isn’t a constructor title or team championship. Smith has been doing this self destruct act for 5-6 years now. 

If Star gets their panties in a wad and fires him early, someone else will pick him up.  Then things would be REALLY interesting in terms of rubbins racin.  Star would be best to keep him on the team and do their best to keep them from killing each other.  You want to motivate Smith, fire him and see what happens to golden boi.

how did you all handle when it was the PC era guys battling for titles and block passing each other..

i cant see any one in the wrong other than J.Smith forcing a pass in a spot he couldn't make work.

its been the same story with J.Smith since he went pro.

and Hayden is a rookie.. every young Rookie gets in these tangles.

No veteran wants to get handled by the rookie. I wanna say it was a bit much for a heat race,but crashing another 3 times in the heat and then the lcq that was on smith. I like both riders and it could have been avoided and it’s both their fault for playing cat and mouse. I do like hunter stepping in and giving the dmxs boys a punch back. Off to the next round.

Just watched the press conference, Hunters comments and demeanor were very good, and he was very well spoken. 

Is Smith entering a local B class race?  That’s about his only chance to get a win. 

yup, it wont stop the anti Lawrence brigade but yeah pretty darn good

as for the Deegan/Smith incident, I have zero issue with it

Man, we spent all weekend racing. I started reading this crap and gave up. What a damn bunch of drama queens there are here.

It was pretty obvious to me that Smith was the 2nd fastest 250 guy there last night...not counting mistakes that ruined his races.

Watched the press conference and think Deegan acted just fine. He is a kid.

Hunter to Deegan : didn’t your agent tell the media not to bring this up?  

Because David is and has always been a total asshole when it comes to “his guy” getting handled on the track! I cannot believe that there are so many people trying to put Jordon Smith’s miscues on Haiden Deegan! Anyone with just a smidgen of racing knowledge knows that Smith is the only one to blame for what happened! He was literally night and day FASTER than Deegan in the whoops as well as being just faster in general! He could have waited until they made it back around to the whoop section and just blitzed on by him for the position! Instead, he decided to take his frustrations and dislike for Deegan out on him during that exchange!

Here’s the WORST part of it all… once Smith got up, he would literally crash two more times in that heat by making bone headed moves! That’s exactly what Deegan was talking about at the Daytona Press Conference. His veteran teammates are all riding so inconsistent when they should be up there battling for the win and not 5-10 seconds off the leader! Smith has had ample opportunities in his career to win main events as well as a championship, but he CAN’T QUIT throwing it away! I’ll give Nate Thrasher a pass since his knees jacked up, but as a HUGE Smith fan and someone who knows him personally, when is he going to be that guy everyone knows he can be? Why is he not going to the extra training sessions with other trainers like Deegan is? Why doesn’t he stay out at the test track until dark trying to perfect his craft? Instead of looking for excuses, he needs to be putting in the work like Deegan so that he can get the results and actually do what he was hired to do and BEAT Hunter Lawrence. 
 

I know Brian Deegan personally as well and I know exactly what he’s instilled into his sons brain about what it takes to go fast, win, be consistent, and also look good doing it! Deegan is literally pissed off that this 250 Class Veteran who was brought in to win another title for Star Yamaha isn’t putting in the necessary work to be a champion! I mean anyone can see that Jett & Hunter Lawrence both train as much as they can to make sure they are in the best riding shape possible and are controlling every aspect of their career that they can! Well obviously Smith isn’t putting in that same work because he’s always off the pace or dumping it during the races which completely sucks ass considering how much talent he has! I personally feel like that 2017 Las Vegas Shootout completely screwed up Smith’s mental state and his confidence level in his riding ability has completely changed! It’s super sad to see his career unfolding this way all while he’s being out worked, out prepped, and out performed by his 17 year old teammate!

Last thing… you can read between the lines and watch with your own eyes 👀 and figure out that Thrasher nor Smith care for Deegan AT ALL! I really hope they aren’t envious of him, but it definitely seems like there is some of that with some jealousy thrown in towards Deegan and how popular he is!

A bit excessive for a qualifier, but if it’s a main. I’m good with it. 

I wouldn’t be shocked if it was someone else either. The way Deegan has been riding and his smug demeanor I could see anyone putting him in the cheap seats given the chance. Doesn’t seem like he’s had his “welcome to supercross” that most rookies get just yet. 

Just waiting for Deegan to take out Hunter, then we'll see fireworks :-)

If Star has a problem with 2 guys on the podium,you must be mad!

Well Hunter is a good enough and smart enough rider not to whiskey into the bike in front of him and Haiden aint gonna touch Hunter this year.

His already tried messing with hunter once or twice this year.

But hunter is  to fast n just blows by him most times

Then you don't know how to read and are terrible at math. The lap times say otherwise.

Is that why he tried to knock him down? I guess that shoots to shit the theory Smith is the instigator.

Just going off of lap times I'm pretty sure Smith had better times in qualifying. Even in the heat race Smith still had a faster lap time than Deegan. 

Pretty relatable analogy. I had to slap a 36 year old man across his face to make him stop fucking with me on the job site when I was the 21 year old fresh out of school "FNG" (f#ckin new guy).

Deegan did what he did, and I'm ok with it.
