As of Wednesday morning, have they been able to start on building the track?
This looks like a photo from last night (Tuesday night).
Actually, those trucks do a pretty good job at packing it down.
Look at the jumps. They are holding their peak pretty well which would indicate they are built with dry dirt.
Now consider that the base for those things has to be pretty thick, probably more than for the bikes. They most likely moved in the entire inventory of dirt they had stockpiled and just spread it thicker on the floor so they wouldn't have to move dirt a second time and clean up the haul site or any pavement they use during move in again.
Drain or pump the standing water. Scrap the mud off so it can be spread on a straight where they can turn it over to dry, or mix it in with the dry dirt so there are not soft spots in the jumps and go to town.
They don't have to have the entire track built for press day, so they have until Saturday morning.
Might be some all nighters, but if the rain stops today we will be watching round 2 Saturday night.

It has. I had just moved to El Cajon from Dallas the previous year. My 1st job was at Suzuki of California in El Cajon. I was racing an '83 RM250. I saw so many of the top riders in town. Easy to meet the top racers at Palm Ave. as well. That was an awesome time to be into moto. Thank you for the flashback!
Interesting. It looks like that race on Nov 5, 1983 wasn't part of the AMA Supercross series. Instead, it was the final round (out of 2) of a CMC Supercross Trans-Cal series.
A bike that he bought from the dealer a few days before and then went out and won a sx. And we are blown away that KR94 rides with a kick starter.
Back in 1978 Bob Hannah raced and won on a production Yamaha YZ 250. After the race the winning Yamaha was raffled off and someone from the stadium went home with the winning bike.
Hope the track is built and not too wet. Whoops leading to the finish could be interesting.

I raced the Qualcomm amateur day in 1990. That lasted a lap. Wadded on the same jump Bradshaw did the night before, so in my mind, as a teenager, that was cool.
Team Solitaire will be doing military appreciation at SD this weekend since they are west only (Tampa is the real one this year) so make sure to check out their bikes and helmets.
JM485 - I announced that race in Vegas (sx futures announcer in 19 and 20, ended because of Covid and hasn’t been back) and I have one guy telling me it’s coming back and one guy saying it’s not, so idk. I’m trying to get an answer myself because I absolutely loved it and so did 99% of the riders.
I won’t make it out this weekend and hope it’s dry, but I’m sure it will be similar to A1. See you all at A2 next weekend!

The flat 135° turn by the start gate looks interesting too. Hopefully we don't see Hampshire and Ciancarulo tucking the front there, hoping for for a good season for them both.
Looks like they'll be getting on the throttle properly toward the inside 1/3 of the gates, wonder if that'll affect starts / gate pick for the fast homies or do you reckon it'll be alright as it's at enough of an angle to the gate by that point for any ruts to not upset the bikes much off the start?
Inside of the dog box looks the go, or the old Dungey sneaker line around the inside might produce?

Not seen anyone mention this yet, but Matthes tweeted yesterday that Feld scooped up the Monster Jam floor that was in SD and put a whole new one in, and that it's also not the same dirt as Petco... Looks like we're on for a winner this weekend thanks to the Dirt Wurx crew!

serious question? How many time does it have to be said? The same as 350 days a year here, sunny. Even people from out of town are freaking out about the rain here. I thought it was just the locals. Turn off the news. It rained and now its gone.

There's a 40% chance of rain here today. It probably won't...but given the last two weeks, I think asking how the weather is here is a perfectly valid question.

Was reading this on Apple News from Fox explaining the rainfall and snowfall over the last three weeks:

A substantial amount of that is snowpack, which delays the flooding concerns to spring when temps rise. That doesn't make sense. Is that saying if the entire state of California is covered in Rose Bowls, they would all fill with rainwater? Plus 50,000 MORE of them? The Rose Bowl is probably 100 feet tall. California doesn't get 100 feet of rainfall each year.
Or, one Rose Bowl every mile? Which seems like a weird way to describe things.
It says one Rose Bowl every square mile. The Rose Bowl would not take up an entire square mile.
California is roughly 164,000 sq mi. They are saying enough rain fell to fill about 214,000 rose bowls. So in theory you could have one rose bowl in every square mile of CA filled and still have enough water to fill 50,000 more Rose Bowls.
Number games are fun.. but let's hope in reality much of that water was actually captured in available reservoir space.

I believe that's exactly what it's saying. 1 stadium filled for every square mile, 162 thousand stadiums. Extrapolating the data out, since it's a weird way to put it, comes out to about 24 trillion gallons of water. Or about 62% of what Lake Tahoe holds.
Adding the other 50k stadiums is about 7.5 trillion more gallons.
For perspective, Hurricane Harvey dropped 33 trillion gallons of water in 5 days. that amount of water can do serious damage over that short period of time. Hope everyone is safe and that the catastrophe is behind us.
