The intro to the broadcast showed glimpses of some old race footage that was remastered/high def.
Please give us old analog races in this quality. I WILL PAY!
If you were watching a hockey game would you rather it called by a Canadian or someone from Australia? The Aussies would feel the same way if some yankee was calling a cricket match.
Diffy has no ties to supercross. He is from asphalt racing in Australia. Most the viewers are and always will be blue collared Americans. He is not a good fit.
He's not from asphalt racing only in Australia, he's called races of many different disciplines around the world.
I would like to see the racers preparing for the gate between races instead of looking at a rock or dirt. It is one of the best times. Even if it is a long shot.
I would remove the tags used to identify the racers when they are dicing. They get messed up when the riders go around a turn.
I like it when they use a 4 wheeler to ride beside the racers on the straight parts.

Broadcast: Stop the dumb side story garbage. There is a ton of time between races for that, talk about what is happening on the track.
I thought the screen graphics were OK. I don't think they should do the "250 main" overlay as the guys go over the start. Turn it off for a second while the pack starts. I think the rider specific callout is cool (yes I know it messed up). The callout would be best used to highlight the top guys on the start where I may have trouble discerning whos where for a few seconds, but I don't need it when the riders are separated.
The commercials (yes I know they are necessary) at first drove me crazy - but I don't think any racing was compromised. Just felt incredibly long and was going to bleed into the race schedule. Makes me miss MXGP-TV; I'd pay more to just get more real coverage.
Commentary was OK, didn't detract from the races but certainly didn't standout.
its the East coast calling..... start the races 7pm eastern even on west coast!
Ricky didn’t trip up as much, but he still didn’t offer any real insight into the racing. He’s obviously an expert, but there’s just no depth to his comments. I’d rather listen to someone who analyzes the race and delivers commentary that goes beyond the obvious.
Speaking of commercials, did anyone else see repeat commercials on Peacock of a body lotion brand that was being promoted by black female women? I did, and thought it was an odd product choice for the target market.
I noticed. Maybe with the new"Supermotardocross" name, and those commercials they're secretly trying to groom redneck kids into something else.... It's seriously beyond ridiculous.
a good number of SX/MX fans can be summed up by watching the opener to idiocracy....
lol
Yeah starting the night show at 10pm on the east coast is kinda shitty for viewer numbers you'd imagine. As they move east it will get better I guess.
None of the commercials were for the target demographic....and they played them over and over again.
Idiots.
Start time
Thank goodness for Diffey because being Australian he's the only commentator I can understand.
No idea what RC or any of the other Americans are saying...impossible to understand those American accents.
Could we get maybe Hamish and Andy in the booth?
Id like to see Diffy and Ricky C back off on the HYPED UP YELLING ....Goldang IT its to mutch and seems phonier than a 3 dollar bill.....Like they are being told to be like that ,or else hes gone to....Ricky more laid back and tellin it like he sees it is what I wanna hear...Ill bet he hates having to act all freaking wound up like that..ALL THE TIME.. ...Bring back Emig,Rc and Ralph and just let be who they are...
I don’t watch the commercials, straight to my phone or grabbing a new beer. Maybe they figured more and more women are watching the sport and they will buy these products? You see posters mention more and more about their significant others watching, my wife and daughters sat and watched. Or nobody ponied up the price to grab those spots?
More titties and beer
Pit Row
I don't watch them either. It's "MUTE" because now you can't even FF thru them anymore (at least not on Roku).
...but I noticed they kept playing the same shit over and over again. One of them was some HIV med.....yeah, that's appropriate for the demographic....and kids watching. ****ing NBC.
Outside of endemic sponsor ad's everything you see is based on what is searched from your, and around your local IP addy.
Targeted ad's.
Not streaming thru a Roku box it isn't. I can guarantee, nothing in any of the ads I saw have ever been searched for in this house.
Judging by how this next weekend could sadly derail this entire series, stop using open roof stadiums.
It's an hour too long. The second hour is 10 minutes of racing, and 50 minutes of commercials and tedium.
Get some additional camera work on the floor. I know this will probably never happen but seeing close ups of the bikes really helps to show how fast and big these guys are going. I think adding a few new angles from the floor from time to time would be great rather than just the cameras from way up in the stands.
Split Gate
way to much advantage to the inside of the split.
Riders can drop their worst result .
Bring Fro back
FWIW, when I was at Eurosport they insisted on clear definition in the roles of commentators. Lead (Diffey, in the case of SX) is supposed to call the action and just that. The colour commentator (RC) should interject with expert analysis and interesting insight. The colour commentator shouldn’t call the action.
Lead guys doing analysis and colour guys calling the action just gets messy.
When I performed colour, if I was talking when a pass was about to happen, I was supposed to back out and let lead back in to commentate on the pass.
Colour commentary is very difficult to do well. Mostly because you don’t know when lead is going to pause and let you in. You may have something in your mind about something a rider is doing on track, but if that rider is not in shot when you are let in, you can’t mention it. Having something in your head that’s interesting, relevant to what’s on screen, and ready to go at a moment’s notice is trickier than you might think.
In some ways, lead is a lot easier. You just describe what’s going on.
I agree and I have been saying this for a long time. Cameras lower to the ground show the badassery of the riders. It is a tough balance though, you see less while lower and closer to the riders.
It is almost as if we are in a time where cameras are everywhere and there is so much technology that a viewer should be able to pick through a few cameras/camera angles depending on how they want to watch the race. Imagine, I set my view preference to ground level cameras and the next person sets their view preference to stadium seating or similar to what it is now. (yes I know, Feld would have to figure out how to pay a handful of more people to operate the cameras and direct and that would really put the company under).
I’m not sure they even know, because ‘it’ seemed to go wherever the f it wanted. Like someone else already mentioned, it’s only really useful when the pack’s bunched together on the opening laps and you can see oh, ‘so and so’ got a shitty start. Definitely don’t think they need the annotations on riders for half a lap.
