Exactly. Doesn't sound like the fans hating on the kid have actually watched him. Stop crying because he always had nice bikes. If your Dad wanted you on the best equipment you would have turned it down I guess? The kids technique is amazing. He's going to be a solid pro

People also haven’t mentioned the moto his wheel blew out, he got off the track and cut half of it to beeline to the mechanics area, then pointed at his bike and pulled back on from the mechanics area. If the wheel had lasted he would of finished the moto after cutting multiple lanes of the track.
His wheel was already destroyed. I was standing right by mechanics area he went by and told his mechanic he was going back to the truck and then rode the 3/4 of a lap back to the exit of the track

Below are the AMA rules for claiming a motorcycle, straight from page 37 of the AMA rule book. The only supplemental rule MX Sports has with regards to claiming is "value is two times the MSRP at the National event".

J. Claiming

1. All sanctioned motocross and youth meets are claiming meets. The claiming price shall be 30 percent over (50
percent over for Supermini) manufacturer’s suggested retail price using the Black Book AMA Official Motorcycle
Value Guide, Kelly Blue Book or NADA appraisal guide and include the complete motorcycle, supermini or
minicycle. Vintage- and ATV-class equipment shall be excluded from the claiming rule.

2. Any rider (claimant) may enter a claim for a motorcycle, supermini or minicycle ridden in an event in which the
claimant has competed. A claimant may enter a claim with the referee any time during the meet but no later than 30
minutes after the race results of the event in which the claimant has competed are posted. There will be no
additional time added to this process in the event of a claim.

3. Cash, certified check or bank draft must accompany a claim. The owner of the claimed motorcycle must
immediately deliver it intact, along with a clear title or bill of sale.

4. If more than one claim is received for the same motorcycle, the meet referee will hold a drawing to determine the
successful claimant.

5. If a rider whose motorcycle is claimed refuses to comply, they must forfeit the trophy, is disqualified from the meet
and will be suspended for one year.

6. A rider may not enter a claim on their own equipment.

7. Any rider deemed by the AMA to be complicit in circumventing the claiming rule (i.e. placing a claim with
the intent of returning the motorcycle to the original owner), will be subject to a 1-year suspension of competition
privileges.

Hopefully this will help clear up some of the misconceptions some have responded with in this thread.

MSRP for a 2023 KX 250 is $8,499. So, if someone wanted Ryder Ds bike they could put a claim in for $16,998 for a factory PC bike. That kind of seems like a great deal if someone wanted a top of the line PC Kawi bike. Why does that not happen more?

The rest is fantasy at this point.

But Boomslang did confirm a claim was submitted and then after “discussion” it was retracted. So of course since there has been zero Twitter or social mention of this some people start to ask why. And then the usual insiders come in to call people questioning why, crazy conspiracy theorists. Guess wonder why instead of calling those questioning it crazy, why not question why we aren’t hearing anything about this happening at the biggest amateur event of the year?

Because of the media or lack there of.

Its okay we want to grow the sport but not really grow the sport, gotta make sure my buddies keep their jobs in the industry...oh crap we have competition over here better put that fire out before wsx takes off and takes all our money

You keep assuming that Star has done something illegal or has something in the motor that is unobtanium…We don’t know that is was claimed or retracted or anything…Bomerslang says the bike wasn’t claimed and he would know…the conclusions that you and many are jumping to on this is ridiculous….more than likely there is nothing to see here as it’s nothing but rumors.

But if you claimed it at a qualifier or regional it would only cost you $11,048. But who knows if you get the same caliber of bike at a qualifier or regional.

So it seems like if you're in the market for a new already tricked out bike, you just figure out where the top amateurs are racing that weekend, and claim their bike at the end of the race since "all" sanctioning races are claiming races. Am I missing something?

Had he continued, he would’ve gotten a penalty for cutting the track. It’s kind of hard to penalize them anymore than a DNF

The way I understand it is the 7 big teams have an understanding where if a claim is filed they all do a claim so then there is a 1 in 8 chance of winning. Odds are you would loose that $$$$$ and go home empty handed.
It doesn’t work that way anymore. The rule is if someone does that to circumvent a bike being claimed they can be suspended for a year. That stops people from putting their name on a counter claim

If Star didn’t have anything to hide why even bother fighting for it to be retracted. Seems silly to me.. I’m sure they could’ve whipped up a bike before his next moto with all his settings. I for one don’t want to believe star would cheat, it doesn’t make sense on many levels but why fight so hard to keep the bike? If it’s a production bike with a bolt on linkage, engine hangers, cut subframe, oem forks and shock with re-valving and springs, upper & lower triple clamps, high compression piston, minor motor work and a pipe and silencer the amount that was put up shouldn’t be that far off.. and it’s an oem backed team it doesn’t matter it’s the price or business. For me if they weren’t hiding anything they would of laughed and started rebuilding Haiden a bike for his next moto. Amature racing and the way it’s going is a whole other topic that I could write a book on… I don’t go there unless provoked.

I don't think you can take a bike by claiming it in the middle of an event. If the bike is claimed in the middle of an event surely they would seal mechanical parts or possibly impound the bike and only allow work with monitoring. The participant would be allowed to race the rest of their motos.

Haven’t read the whole thread and don’t plan to but after reading about possibly building another bike for the next moto if one gets claimed, it raises the question of could one race up to 3 different bikes/VINs at LL’s in one class during the week? Just curious, had never thought about it. That could save a mechanic a lot of work.,.

Sorry for the long run-on sentence/question.

Nope. The Chassis cannot be changed and has to be the same VIN that is qualified with at regionals. Motors can be swapped and anything else but the frame must be the same.
It does not have to be the same frame that qualified at the regionals. You can bring a brand-new bike to lorettas thats never been ridden before anywhere the only rule is you have to ride the same frame all three Moto’s

If some fuck wit claims before the motos are finished, does the person get to finish there motos or have to hand it over immediately?
What is the purpose of this rule?
If you can protest a riders bike if you suspect cheating, then that gives an option to cover cheating, so why can someone then think because they have some coin they have the right to someone’s bike. I’d tell them to fuck off.

I’m neutral on Deegan, but everyone thinking they would cheat, why would they, they have more to loose then gain. Sound like a bunch of sour puss’s.
If I had the money to keep my bike after some spoilt fuck wit tried to buy my bike, I’d keep keep it to.

Well there is no reason anyone would even want to claim your bike, I mean why would they? but at these big races where they have fast riders on really good bikes then its to keep a team from sending a full factory bike to the Armature championship races. and for the 20th time in this thread you cant put in a claim until after the last moto that the bike is in and then it goes to impound until the claim is settled. The claiming rule has been posted in this thread with all the specifics to the rule, read them as they are interesting.

No real reason to show your cards (claim) before the end of the 3rd moto unless they know you plan to claim. I would assume the same applies as a protest, and that is the bike will be impounded and any work to get it ready for the remaining moto's will be done under the watchful eye of the AMA in the impound area.

If you tell them to fuck off, they then tell you to fuck off for a full year. See how that works.

I understand perfectly the difference between a claim and a protest. I don’t understand why you think I DONT understand it.

We know the bike was CLAIMED.
It was claimed because someone wants to look inside it.

Star didn’t want to let it go, so they alledgedly paid them off..
WHY did they pay them off??
Was it because the motor is very special?
Or was it because the motor illegal?
Only the guys at Star know.

This isn’t about the claimant’s motivation, it’s about Star’s motivation.

If you want to look inside an engine you PROTEST the bike and it gets torn down.

If you want to own the bike you CLAIM the bike and if you are the winning claimant you take the bike home with you.

They are two very different and distinct processes.
FFS!!

When I say they want to “look inside it” I don’t mean just to see if it’s legal- I mean they want to see what makes up the bike. Look at it, measure it, copy it, tune motors afterward using the specs. Not just take a fucking peak to see if it’s legal you prick.

In which case we can assume it must be a pretty special bit of equipment If they had battled so hard to keep it.

I'm the opposite of a Deegan fan, the press/ media they generate for themselves just isn't my cup of tea.
But if you think that kid needs an uber modded bike to compete you are out to lunch. He's fast and he's going to be around for a long time. Can't hate on talent.

Everyone knows in moto the rider is about 85% of it, put a local pro on an HRC Honda he still isn't doing much at a national or supercross. The kid has talent, and speed. He will have his shot, just like everyone else. We will see what he can do with it, in time.

Factory rides all through amateurs is the reason so many of these kids go pro and never produce. Of course you’ll dominate amateur ranks when you’ve been on a team since you were 6 years old.
shit changes fast when everyone is on the same program and equipment.

Exactly.

The amateur system is broken. The sport needs to limit how much support can be given at the amateur level.

Deegan isn’t going to produce much when he reaches the pros when everyone is on same/better equipment than him. Jake Weimer once said that rich kids don’t make it because they aren’t tough enough. It’ll happen to Deegan
I agree with that theory 100% it's very accurate for the most part, however if you watch the kid ride it's pretty damn obvious he has the mental edge that some of the greats do, he hates losing more than anything, he rides like his life depends on it.

I would say money cannot buy that mental edge, but it seems like good parenting can.

That’s why below that pic I posted this one it’s better and you can see the HRC triple clamps and the forks looks same as Lawrence brothers run and HRC skid plate

This is a BS rule. If a vet rider wants to spend 10k in trick suspension they have to give up their bike for 130% retail or get DQ and suspended for a year. It’s not helping to keep cost down, these families spend thousands of dollars to make Loretta’s.

This is a BS rule. If a vet rider wants to spend 10k in trick suspension they have to give up their bike for 130% retail or get DQ and suspended for a year. It’s not helping to keep cost down, these families spend thousands of dollars to make Loretta’s.
I don't think the rule is there for vet riders, its for kids on superminis and up and coming stars on factory bikes.

How many vet bikes have been claimed over the last 10 years, any?
