I can definitely see how many can think that, as she is definitely on the progressive side of things, wanting to move the country in a direction many are uncomfortable with. She's often referred to as a radical by those on the right, along with others that share her mindset. I disagree with her on some things of course. Her idea of a federal minimum wage being 15 dollars an hour is probably a little high, but if the federal minimum wage had kept up with society, it would be higher than 8 dollars an hour now too. This is not about left vs. right. In the House race, Peltola ran and won as a moderate Democrat against a Moderate Republican and a Trump Republican. Her platform is similar to other Alaskan moderates, regardless of their party affiliation. She beat Sarah Palin (lol) by 7 points when the two Republican candidates split the vote. In the Senate race, Murkowski (a centrist/moderate Republican) beat Tshibaka, another Trump Republican. These races were about a repudiation of Trump and his candidates, which is why I posted it in the Trump thread
