SlowOldGuy Added a reply to New chest protection rule
4/6/2026 11:26am Not sure where the rule you quoted came from. The rule is on page 28 of the 2026 rulebook: It is mandatory that chest and back protection be worn by all competitors. The protector may be worn under or over the jersey, and it should cover the sternum anterior ribs, posterior ribs, and spine from T1 to T12.

SlowOldGuy Added a reply to Another reason local racing has low numbers
2/6/2026 12:51pm We don't advance 14-16 year olds to A. This kid was 17. The appeal committee took a second look at his appeal at my request. They have decided to let him stay back in B.

2/4/2026 10:03am Logan was advanced via his RPV in Open B. The threshold for advancement is a 15 RPV and Logan was a 15. Advancement is automatic if you meet the threshold and are of the correct age which Logan was. There is an appeal process where three independent AMA Motocross Commission members evaluate the riders results and any extenuating circumstances. In...

8/22/2025 7:30pm Its not the insurance company, sucking the tracks dry, it’s the lawyers sucking the insurance dry . Regarding the release, there’s no release on the face of the earth that excuses someone from negligence and most of the lawsuits claim negligence, whether there is any or not. And yes, our government relations people are working on about five or six...

8/22/2025 12:14pm We really struggle to find a promoter who can make it work. Our last one really struggled.

8/22/2025 11:43am We allow them to ride the areas without trying to qualify because it helps the promoter with the success of the event. Out west and mid south many of the qualifiers are not huge numbers, probably because of the expense to get to Tennessee. The regionals are built around 72 riders. 8 riders from each qualifier, 9 qualifiers per region...

8/22/2025 11:23am The AMA's class structure is pretty simple. See it on page 40 here: Racing Rulebook - American Motorcyclist Association The extra classes are promoter supplemental classes designed to maximize entries and give as many people as possible a class to be competitive in.

8/22/2025 8:44am You guys know Im a huge 2 stroke guy, but I dont recall seeing any vet riders on 125s at any racetrack this year. I'm there are some out there but that class would certainly be smaller than a +25 or + 30 on 4 strokes. At Lorettas wirth the time limitations, if there is a new class added the...

8/22/2025 8:28am The promoter makes the classes but under the current structure at Lorettas a class would need to be dropped to add one. I dont see more vet classes added.

8/22/2025 7:28am All of our officials and actually everyone has access to: results.americanmotorcyclist.com This gives you access to the classifications of everyone who has raced since 2006. Sometimes officials want to make sure it is not an administrative error which does happen from time to time. If they dq someone on race day and it turns out they were wrong, they can't...

8/22/2025 7:19am We have tons of Chartered clubs that run races and racetracks / series. I am currently working with an AMA promoter in the PNW to bring more AMA activity to your area. Insuring events that dont follow AMA is a tough one. Our insurance program is a benefit to our members and promoters. Extending this benefit to non AMA members...

8/22/2025 7:02am It has been discussed many times at the commission meetings but never had much traction. I sense we may have some traction to increase the penalties based on this incident. Personally, I would be in favor of stiffer penalties.
