Dude, you're so negative about the sport. Why are you here exactly? What's the point of coming on here to bitch about this and that about motocross? And your profile pic is way out of place on a moto forum. This is a place for people that like motocross, to state the completely obvious.

And so what if my profile pic is a young Boe Fiden. This is brandon's world and your just living in it

It seems you had a bad experience by being forced into it or having it pushed on you. That is one negative aspect of the sport. I was in the opposite situation, trying to dedicate my life to racing but having no family support. I was always jealous of the kids whose parents were so into it, but there is always another side of the coin.
I will say that lots of things have changed since I started racing in 1980 (last race was in 2020). Tracks and bikes are faster but our bodies are the same. And I have recently had a lot of second thoughts since the age of the Internet, where you see so much. However, I don't see the point of constantly reminding people of the dark side of the sport on a motocross forum. We all know the risks of the sport (consider the fate of OCS Scottie). There is no other sport like motocross, and part of that is the gladiator aspect. For the most part, nobody is forced to do it.
The man who runs Feld, whats his origin? Whats his family background? Does this puppetmaster care in the slightest about the kids who get injured coming to his events? Its all very concerning to me personally that a certain clique is profiting to such a high extent, while young kid after kid gets carted out, life permanently changed. Its a shame there is no advocate or government authority willing to protect these kids from their exploiters

So its eveyone elses fault for injuries besides the guy holding the throttle eh?

When I rode on open land and broke my wrist who do I blame? The dirt, the tire company, dirtbike manufacturer, boot manufacturer, grip company? Who? Surely it wasn’t my fault due to my choice to ride a motorcycle.

No one is holding a gun to anyones head saying “ride motorcycles” “jump triples” “skim whoops” or else. Sounds like you are having a tough time with something and just looking to place blame rather than accepting the fact that you made a bad choice. Some people can live with it, some people can’t.

Ok let's talk about it. Yes I agree motocross is either dead or on the fast track to death as a sport. Why? Well to be honest, anyone who raises a small child from 4 years old to breeds them to go as fast as possible around on a motocross track needs a psych evaluation. If you take a pet monkey and make him ride a pocket bike or a bicycle they call it animal abuse. But these promoters are allowed to fill stadiums and make huge money by risking the safety of human beings? I hate to point out the elephant in the room, but these riders are taking on huge injuries year after year. Its just a matter of time until professional MX/SX gets shut down by the government and I can only hope it happens before the next 5-10 Jessy nelsons and brian moreau's surface

You make a fair point, but these kids are encouraged and pressured to go a very high speed in a chaotic and busy environment before their brains are even really developed. Theres a big difference between you riding in an open field and what happened to brian moreau and others racing SX.

People also choose to sell their bodies on the street and stick needles in their arms. Those are individual choices too, but we as a society attempt exclude these activities from our reality, out of respect for humanity in general and in contempt of the viscous pimp and drug dealer.

Feld = heroin dealer and these young pro's are basically junkies looking for their next fix. Never know whats gonna happen on the next try

It's the nature of the beast. Supercross was invented by a guy who went to prison for killing someone over business. Behind the scenes it's a ruthless business. But football is just as bad. I left every practice as kid with headaches from bashing my skull against other skulls, and that went on for years. We all had our "big injury" as teenagers. Most sports require sacrificing your body. Hell, I knew a former ballerina in her early 50s who was suffering from all kinds of physical ailments. She also complained about the dark side of that activity.

I think the talk from WSX super fans. (which Jas is one of the top ones) over the demise of the USA MX Nationals is a bit premature,

WSX has only 2/3 races announced this year, and not even 1/4 of riders announces, no stream announced, and it starts just over 3 months,
Australia will be a good crowd for sure as has been proved in the past, and if they can't pull a crowd in Cardiff with Eli and Kenny the global aspect is in trouble , Jakarta is mentioned as the other option, and you would think you would want to give people a lot of time to get travel plans sorted to be spectators,

AMA MX, where rider entires having to be limited as they are getting too many riders, good crowds, and although the MAV TV App debacle was pretty shit, has it really effected them that much?

Look, Motorsports are dangerous.
Nascar, Indy, etc... manage this by periodically lowering maximum displacement, so that teams/companies can continue to innovate, and push technology, but they essentially say every once in a while, that 200MPH is OK, but 230MPH is not.

What does MX/SX do?
Worse than nothing. We allowed 450cc 4 stroke engines in a 250cc class, and 250cc 4 stroke engines in a 125cc class.
AND, as technology made the 4 strokes even faster, we've done nothing to manage the speed.
Track design follows what the bikes are able to do.

If we're concerned about the government shutting us down due to injuries/deaths, then we need to do what Nascar, Indy etc... do, and lower the max displacement in both classes.
Track designs will change to support the new limits.

If we don't, bikes will become even faster, and injuries will become more severe.
It's physics. Crash at a faster speed, get worse injuries.

Whether or not they're on the line in pro racing, the 125 and 250 2 strokes are good benchmarks for where performance limits should be, and possibly they should be lowered a bit.

I propose the following 2 classes:

125 2 stroke and 175 4 stroke
250 2 stroke and 325 4 stroke

You need some mental help, my man. You’re clearly struggling with some stuff and there’s no shame in that, we’re all imperfect and go through struggles, but you won’t find help here.

AX needs a big series again like the 90,s to 03. Many more arenas than stadiums in America. The racing is more exciting than sx. It’s easier to sell out a arena . Big reason Mx exploded in the 90,s was because of AX racing. Cheap tickets , local riders pals see him racing and all went out and bought bikes.

Plain and simple this sport is not for everybody. Ive been to alot of races and almost everybody is involved or has been on a dirt scooter at some point. Yes at sx you get some curious fans, but i dont think too many convert and come back year after year. Now with that in mind, it is a finite business. I think they are doing very well. Yes tv is changing very quickly. Cable is dying, networks are scrambling and new platforms are evolving. I actually see this being a benefit long term. Its gonna take some time for the smoke to settle.

This has to be the worst post I've ever read here. The idea that Mx/sx is a blood sport . It's not even in the same league as some of the most dangerous sports in the world .I keep hearing the rider s ,put there life on the line every race . Yet has a pro rider died at a pro race . could it happen , yes and Yes very unfortunately rider s have died riding Mx . I know that . Also there have been life changing injury's. But Mx on the whole isn't any more dangerous than horse riding , even rugby , etc . Is it the safest sport no way near .
But people make the choice. Imo it's better than the choice of sitting in front of video games all day . ( Also a health risk ) Sport s were I'd say people put there life on the line is IOM TT ,or climbing K2 ( insanity imo) that's coming from someone who races MX . Sound s like you d ban then for sure .

I was actually thinking the same thing recently, there are surprisingly few deaths on the pro level in motocross. But there are in fact many repeating traumatic injuries for most every rider out there. The $ pushes them back to the pain over and over. At a certain point I’m just thinking, why is this even a thing? The sport has evolved into something that shouldn’t even exist. As many have said on here, 450’s exceed the capacity of the human body. This isn’t the 125 class of the 1990’s

MX has always been for the hard core fans. Trouble is that they forgot that and tried to make it appeal to the masses. Parking sucks, getting around the track sucks, the porta potties suck and only having a Saturday program makes it tough to drive a long ways for one day. They took away most of the good viewing areas and made them exclusive for VIPs. The cost to get in and grab a bite to eat has made it tough for a blue collar guy to bring his family as well.

SX, you park in a lot in a city that you can usually fly into. You are shielded from the elements, actual rest rooms and you can see the entire race from your seat. Much easier for a casual fan or someone that wants to go out for a night.

I am a huge fan of MX. I watch SX for something to watch in the winter. Always figured that MX/SX fans are mostly riders or related to a rider. It is never going to be mainstream. Keep it core!

Another thing is the cost of bikes. When I was a kid, you could save up enough money from your paper route and buy a bike. Those days are long gone.
Hi Dennit, stop making so much sense.

You sound like a lawyer / someone trying to prime an audience for Brians case against Feld.

Yes feld suck a bag of dicks and should pay the talent.

But racing is in our blood, kids are ready for it at 5 years old or younger

There is no such thing as a brain thats "really developed"

YOU EITHER GOT IT OR YOU DON'T

I'd rather listen to my wife than Gypsy.

Supercross is basically a blood sport. I wouldn't feel bad about speaking the truth on cockfighting in a cockfighting forum. I'm glad you enjoy watching the races. I know plenty of other people who enjoyed it also before they had to push their kid around in a chair for the rest of their lives.

Does this puppetmaster care in the slightest about the kids who get injured coming...
Any different than the NFL?

When you sit back and think about it now. Jerry jpnes profits way more than Dak Prescott and guess who's body is on the line every week (at least while they are still considered a hot commodity).

250 2 stroke and 325 4 stroke
this is spot on.

Making the bikes stupid fast has caused them to exceed the limits of the stadium sizes.

This isn't another 2 st vs 4 st argument, but the fact is that the racing was so much better when the 125 and 250 2 stroke machines were the norm. You had to have your shit together, and one mistake could cost you 4 or 5 seconds to get back up to speed.

It isn't going to get any better until somebody grows some balls and steps in.

the 450s were out for over10 years before the ama put any kind of restrictions on kids under 15 riding them.

New technology is coming.

The stark is advertised as 80 hp and will have unreal torque.

The powers that be had better proactive or it will be pure carnage.

while it is possible that world sx will help grow moto across the globe... it might go the other direction... if it steals 30 percent of the big name stars from the USA, and an even larger percentage from mxgp (simply because of the $$$$$$$$), two of the three series will be worse off because of it....

I am not looking at this like "this is gonna be awesome, even more high end racing to watch!!!!".... I see this like "hope these idiots don't completely kill off the sport!"....

And if world sx thrives.... then we will be looking at all our riders specializing .... going mx/mxgp only or sx/wsx only.... uggghhhhh... I personally would rather see our top talent racing mx and sx each year.... but I don't see it if world sx takes off.... riders will naturally specialize to maximize how much $$$$$$ they take home each year.... and worse still... I would expect the very top talent to mostly go sx... as there would be a lot more $$$$ to make sx/wsx than doing any form of mx racing.... sigh...

How this new series will effect the mxgp series is another question…
