Looks like more than a sticker: a full set of custom graphics for whoever "Deady" is.

Would be furious if I found one of my stolen machines in this editorial.
So many good things could have been donated from theses Bikes. where's the folks in NY that could have bought these at an auction to help those in need?

Or is this another Publicity stunt that never works?

If you look at the pictures, I can identify a Husqvarna SMS630, plus a current series KTM SMC-R690. This is offensive they destroy these bikes, any of them, when government policy has actually put so many folks out on the streets. Sell them off, Auction, whatever... Give the money to a homeless shelter. Just look at those criminal government officials. Look at the faces. The enemy.

Weird tactic. Whats up with the Dirt Bike targeting? Quick glance and its what >70% scooters and street bikes?

Also, this qoute.. wtf:
"Adams said the NYPD has taken about 900 of the bikes and ATVs off the streets of the Big Apple so far this year".

Big miscommunication here. Throwing the checkers to signify the start shows the level of research mr mayor and team has done i guess. As he's proudly pushing along some kids lost pit bike haha..

Wild qoute nr 2:
“Today, as we stand in the shadow of the Freedom Tower, we are freeing ourselves from these destructive piece[s] of machinery that’s on our streets".

Edit: Im not a NY'er, so correct me if im wrong, but isn't the Freedom Tower actually named "One World Trade Center"? Im sure the mayor of the city would know, but just saying.

Part publicity stunt, part scare tactic. “Ride illegally on the streets and this is what will happen to your bike”.

Because, you know, “ride illegally on the streets and we’ll lock you up” would be way too harsh.

Classic…blame the machine instead of the criminals using them…now, if I could just remember where I’ve seen that “logic” before…

Early 80's here in Brazil we had a ban on motorcycles (and almost all consumer products) imports. Honda and Yamaha get a temporary license to import bikes for his factory motocross teams. After one year the bikes must be returned to the country of origin.

Of course there's no economical sense on send used bikes all the way back to Japan.

The "brilliant" solution was burn on fire in front of IRS agents to make sure they don't have any other use or destination.

Talk about government crazyness...

They just go steal another bike the next day.

Crushing those bikes accomplishes nothing.

The Philippines does that to illegally imported luxury cars and bikes about every year. Some real high dollar cars have been lost to bulldozers over there.

Is this word commonly used in the states? Ive never once in my life heard someone use it here in the UK.
Not super common, but common enough that it is readily understood, I'd say.

Not really only hear it now n then. most people I know its not part of thier regular vocabulary I never use it. Once had a friend who used to like saying -dude I almost shit a purple twinkie there!

It's a real term Google it - I never heard it only from him.

The mayor said he didn't want to auction off the bikes because they might find their way back into the hands of the hooligans in NYC. Why not sell them at an auction in Georgia? Dallas? Denver?
And why does he think the hooligans won't steal someone else's bike right there in NYC?
And I take offense the terms "destructive" and "dangerous" when referring to the motorcycles. Maybe the hooligans riding them are that, but the inanimate objects they are using are not.

Baltimore City used to auction off confiscated bikes.
They stopped because they found that the wheely boyz would just buy them back at the auctions, and they would be back on the streets again.

The mayor is stupid. Holligans sitting without bikes are sitting planning where and who to rip off to replace the bikes.

The laws nowdays are lame.

If i were to rent a helicopter and drop 10.000 basketballs over times square, i freakin hope he orginizes a crushing of basket balls and leave me alone. Let the man keep "freeing ourselves from these destructive piece[s]".

Ok, yes this is the worlds most unsolvable argument (object vs user at fault) and no one gets anywhere with it, nor will we ever. But man these crushing photo ops are so Idiocracy-worthy... And im still bothered by the fact that no one in the event crew pointed out that they were crushing registered street legal mopeds, not dirt bikes. Quit pissin on our sport mr m'yer.

Infuriating , stupid and just sad. So much money could have been made from an auction , and then repurpose that money into the community. This is what happens , when you blame the tool.....instead of the person. What a waste.

Funny how we stress recycling of common items like cans and paper, when those bikes could be resold and keep another one from being manufactured.
I know, politically it's a win. Like others said; crush the bikes but (?) free the perps so they can buy another bike. Just slows down the problem doesn't fix it.
