The only reason I went to Hangtown was to see 9 time world champ AC222 & Dung. Both should get start money from promoters. would be a good business decision. KTM is crazy not to have both of these champs on the track evey chance they get!

Somebody on pulp recently said that isn’t really done anymore because the premiums got to be cost prohibitive.

I have no idea what the premium was but I think Reedy got $1 million payout.

In fairness to KTM he is on some sort of ambassador type annual wage but maybe TC thinks eating roost isn’t exactly opening a dirt bike shop. Tony doesn’t look like he’s at 100 % and rightly so at his stage. so Roger ain’t paying no one jack s..t unless their tongue is hanging out every lap well not with out a contract anyway. The GPs aren’t the same without the guy that’s for sure. He’s a legend

Even large companies with tons of bureaucracy can get such obvious moves done, just run it up the chain far enough and someone can sign off on it. Some middle manager at KTM just isn’t doing their job, or Roger is being a prick.

For some reason, I seem to remember reading on here (maybe from JT?) that it was in the $3+ million range from a personal policy he took out on himself. Makes me wonder if he got a bonus from Suzuki, too?

Back on topic: everyone saying KTM is fucking up needs to go back a couple of pages and read Mav's post saying it's Tony's decision to stop after High Point, not KTM's...

Not to mention, even Cairoli’s own branding is TC222. Not sure who started AC222 on vital.
Americans who don't follow the GPs, but man for some reason calling him AC instead of TC bugs the hell out of me.

Welcome to the gig economy, Tony!

You can work for us, for free, and if you happen to win any money, you get to keep it!

AC9 was Baby Jesus. AC222 is Risen Jesus.

KTM is Pontius Pilate.

Except Matthes has said in several places that he is making that decision because KTM can’t even get their shit together to pay him bonuses.

He’s the only guy on the Team even getting consistent TV time.

Read a French interview before the season and Roger tried for weeks to convince Tony to do the full series, but Cairoli said no because he didn't want to be away from home for that long.

The original plan was to do some nationals and then the last few towards the end of the series in order to get ready for MXdN.

Sounds like he's sticking to his plan. Going to go back home, train, come back to race the last few and then race MXdN with the number 1 on his bike.

Edit:

Used Translate from Google Chrome

I'm just going to quote Mav's post in hopes that the "fuck KTM" folks will actually read it this time...

And since then, Cairoli has said he would like to stay and race. But it doesn’t make sense to do it for free. So yes it’s his choice to go home, but not his first choice…

When did he say he wanted to stay and do more than the two extras (TV and High Point)?

Pretty surprising the powers that be at KTM aren’t making this happening. Maybe because they have Dungey all year, now the new story on tv is going to be on him anyways, they have similar speed and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Dungey holeshot a moto or two.

Whatever the reasoning, it’s a shame.

It’s pretty sad that they wouldn’t help this guy out with whatever the hell he needs as between himself and Dungey they have brought a really kick ass vibe to the outdoors this year and IMO gained some new.fans!! Not to mention he’s the best KTM rider out there right now!! WTF?

Ktm, Pit, DeCoster,... you are fucking bonkers if you don't let 222 race the whole series. Part of the reason I subscribe to your shitty streaming and plan on a pilgrimage to Washougal is to watch Tony mixing it up with the rest. Get it done!

Got too much money wrapped up in Webb while he races some random dudes 2 stroke at a local race I guess.

Thanks, hadn't heard that one. Hope he can stick around if he wants to.

For some reason I thought he was receiving a KTM salary as a brand ambassador/test rider, kind of thing. So he wants some bonus money to actually race but KTM says no? Is that the case?

Last week give or take I thought I saw something about Star racing and Cairolli? I'm guessing he is contracted, but if he is not contracted then why not, get some pasta ready.

What baffles me is I think some people didn’t expect a 9 time MXGP champ coming over here and being competitive. KTM probably laid out the plan for 222 regardless of how he would be finishing. Like in Matthes’ “rant”, they’re literally surprised at how well he is doing and urging KTM to scrounge up more money for him. Go ahead and act like Tony didn’t know what he was getting into.

What? I don’t think anyone thought he would be worse results wise than what he is doing. He is riding really well and I didn’t see anyone thinking he would be 9-12 place. He isnt a podium threat at the moment( yes I know he got 4th in a moto but it wasn’t really close to 3rd) and that could change if he rides the rest. I think that’s why people want him to keep racing on top of it just being awesome he is out there.

Not gonna lie. I’d LOVE auto see Tony hop on a Star Yamaha and rip up the rest of the nats. That would be cool.

Was it not Yamaha who let him go all those years ago after he won them a world title. I would think it’s the last bike Toni would get on.

Ferrandis may have actually suggested Star use his base salary on TC for a fill-in ride for the rest of the season.

What a shame! AC222 it was a pleasure watching you grace our series with your world class riding and attitude. You will be missed. KTM got everyone excited for the year of the “comebacks” just to let us down. What a bummer

If that's for real, Ferrandis is even more awesome than I thought haha, and I was already a fan.

All this uproar...which I agree with, but has Tony publicly said anything about his asking for start money, expecting to be paid start money...or being refused start money from KTM? Maybe I missed a post with the link to proof of all this.
