I'm in the minority here but Smith has had some rough years, but I think he still has more left in the tank and obviously Star agrees. I think going to Star could turn things around for him. He's still really fast when he's healthy. Give the kid another chance

I hear you. It's certainly a downgrade but I think that given that the equipment is similar and familiar, it's not maybe as much of a downgrade as it seems. Plus I think the flexibility to move into a 450 ride is a nice little bonus for him. So I can only assume he is just thinking long-term there. Of the 2 guys rumored to be bringing in, I actually like Stilez better. Mainly because I think there is a lot of upside there. If he's healthy, I think he can be really good. Nothing against Smith but I don't think even "the best bike/team" is going to keep him from ending up on the ground. He seems to crash every race. He's really fast when things are going well for him. So regardless I wish him the best. Would be nice to see him get back on track and be more consistent.

Amateur I know but I just saw that Evan Ferry is leaving Rockstar Husqvarna. With him getting older and closer to turning Pro, how does he and the unknown move to a new team play into all of this?

What a bummer way Jmart's career has gone. Think back to 2014ish when him and Webb were battling it out for the outdoor championship. Now we are talking about Jmart to ClubMX while Webb is a 2x Supercross champion.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they meant that Redbud in 2023 could be his first pro race because he's eligible to do a couple races and still be able to race Loretta's in the A class next year. Sounds like their plan is still for him to race B class this year.

That’s what they meant. He even spoke about racing a few races outdoors before LL 23 then turning full time pro after. Deegan will be racing pro mx in 23 one way or the other unless something happens.

Why in god's name would Star want Jordan Smith over RJ Hampshire? Setting aside the fact he's spent more time injured than healthy throughout his career, RJ is still hands down the better rider at this stage of their respective careers. I thought Mitch was crazy for offering him a PC ride a couple years back and how did that turn out? It's not as if he's done/shown anything this year to suggest he'd be a championship contender if given better equipment. That's a head scratching decision in a vacuum but when you throw in RJ actively campaigning for the seat it's even more baffling.

To be clear I'm not a RJ fan(or hater). He's just objectively the far superior rider at this stage.

RJ is signed to husky . Imo they are trying to do what they did with Craig take a balls fast rider who was inconsistent / injured alot turn him around . Also I don't think u can say RJ is better at SX . Smith nearly won a championship has multiple race wins . RJ was never close to that. Injury and crashing has been Smith s problem. Crashing has been RJ problem.

Yeah you would take rj over Smith. But Smith is much easier to sign.
Stars issue is who they have no1 can win them a championship.
Who in the 250 field can win next year.
Hunter jett rj mosiman forkner mcadoo shimodo. But none of them are available.
Who is the next best riders? Looks like star have decided its Smith and stiles and I think that's a fair choice.
