He seems to have a very poor immune system since his big arm injuries. First Epstein Barr and now it seems covid has hit him hard. It's a damn shame that we will probably never see a 100% healthy Roczen again.
COVID ?? He doesn’t have COVID
From the article.

Roczen has dealt with the effects of the Epstein-Barr virus since recovering from serious injuries in 2017 and ’18, although he has made progress at different times – including after sitting out the entire 2020 AMA Pro Motocross series. He was stricken by an unrelated illness at the end of calendar-year 2021 but was nonetheless able to take a surprise win at the first event. Unfortunately, he hasn’t felt like himself since then, a situation that was compounded by a bout with Covid-19 just after the January 22 San Diego round. Roczen hasn’t been able to put the issues behind him, and rather than risk a downward spiral in health and morale, he and his team have made the difficult decision for him to withdraw. During his hiatus, Roczen will seek professional treatment from specialists he has worked with in the past, including some in Europe. His exact return date will depend on how that process goes.

Did the rumors of him going to the GP’s just get stronger?

Did you even read it?
I read his Instagram post. No mention of COVID.

The Vurb moto article makes zero sense, IMO.
The unvaccinated riders are tested every week and can not ride, if they test positive.
So…. If he did test positive and then was allowed to race, then they completely broke the rules, letting him continue to race.

There’s gotta be more to this story….

Interesting I thought this was going to be his retirement or good bye Honda announcement but the comments about delivering a title for Honda say otherwise.

If he tested positive right after the race, he had 7 days until the next race. Many young healthy people can produce a negative test within a week of being positive.

Hopefully its not the last we've seen of Kenny. The Epstein Barr virus lie has been perpetuated in this sport for so long. Why not just come out and say, "my heads just not right, I need to go home and work on some things to get my speed and confidence back". Because that's what the real story is every time we hear about E.B.. Said rider is usually in a slump and then they come out with a press release claiming this rare virus. ONLY in moto have I ever heard of Epstein Barr.
you've obviously never had epstein barr or mono long-term. that shit is horrible.

After watching the 1984 SX main in Atlanta this morning....

pretty much to a man, all these newer "raised at an MX compound" kids are mentally freakn broken... fast as hell of course, but mentally busted to bits... back in 84', I would doubt there would be even 1 rider on the gate that couldn't still race, even with major mental, or physical issues... now days... LOL... guys skip races cause they are arguing with the team, just cause they aren't feeling 100%, etc.... and i get it... they never raised their hands for this, their parents did...

I hate to hear it but getting his health back in more important than championships. Would love to see him come back and win it in 2023 but that seems unlikely at this point. I assume he will be out for MX in 2022 but I suppose that will be determined later this spring. Get well soon, Ken !

Ryno once won an arm wresting contest with both hands tied behind his back.

Let's hope. I sure would like to see him rise from the ashes.

Vaccine would have likely prevented any long term effects of Covid. Shame he didn’t get it, seems like he listened to Joe Rogan instead of doctors.

I got a real weird visual trying to picture this scenario.

Um, wasn't that a broken femur he was healing from?...That's why he was out for so long.

I watched him lay waste to the 450 class at 'Dilla last season, and he won A1 so he obviously has the ability to still make it happen. He took 2 450 outdoor titles in his career here, so I'd say it was a success even if he pulls the plug now. Like KDub14, I enjoyed seeing him compete, win or lose.

We do have a great set of kids coming thru the 250's, so I'm looking forward to the next era at this point.

I predicted this a few races into the season and got down voted into oblivion. It’s not something anyone wants to see and I hope Kenny does what he feels is best for his future and family.

Which MX compound produced Ken Roczen?

Good, I'd rather see him sit out and heal up physically/mentally than just riding around out there. Supercross is one of the most demanding sports with huge stakes and very little reward for very few. If you can't be focused 100%, you're a liability to yourself and others, especially when you have his type of speed.

Was he ever really in this year? Maybe he needs an Ayahuasca retreat to fix what is broken

My guess is you don’t follow many endurance sports then.
