My local dealer said it wouldn't matter if I walked in with a sack of a million dollars, they couldn't make a deal happen if they wanted. Gotta wait till July 2022.

Not until July of 22 wouldn't that make it more like a 23 by then? Why don't they saw we weren't allocated that many this time.
idk I was ready to pay cash on the spot. Looks like some of us are getting them pretty soon. No idea why some dealers don't want our money

I just put a deposit down on one here in Illinois. Dealer said they should be here in December but also said he had a shipment of kawis that was sitting in the port in cali that wasn’t supposed to get there until December, they arrived randomly yesterday. So hopefully it’s sooner than later but right now I guess it’s a waiting game for the call that it’s in.

Why would you think it's the dealership ? If they 5 on the floor im sure they would see out quick. They are just being able to order a bunch and the freight is being slowed in the ports. Who knows how some are able to get them more quick then others.

Oh yeah things are getting nutty. I,m switching jobs all week has been signing electronic docs trucking bs. % pay 3-4500 a week with the high rates. Should b able to save enough not to work may to sept in 22. Stroker crank 2mm in the cr should b enough to out pull the new 22 yz. I,m sure they will b pissed that 55 yr old on a cr just pulled them on a up hill. Haha

Oh what’s the big deal 1mm up and 1mm down stroker crank. If a hot shot 15 yr old LL kid can’t beat a old man that’s his problem. If they protest a 04 bike that would be too funny and will be a yt hit. A super angry dad protesting a rider older than him because his boy got beat. That’s film worthy stuff my man.

Yamaha allocates models differently from one dealer to another. If you sold 150 YZs last year, you're getting more units and getting them sooner than a dealer who sold only 10.

I would guess that development done by Fantic is used to create -22 Yamaha engine. It would be crazy from Yamaha's part to not utilize Fantic's experiences from the bike to create new model.

What I have heard the -21 125 Fantic's are really fast with a lot more top end power compared to old Yamaha engine but with less user friendly power band. Despite of that pro riders seem to like Fantic's power band

Haakon Osterhagen is currently leading super competitive EMX125 class aboard Fantic so that tells something about how fast the bike is

that’s not it but decent shroud

You mean a 2 mm stroker crank cr with 23 ft lbs of torque is quicker than a plane. Not to worried about a yz chasing a Ktm,s power band. That style of power is no match for quickness out of corners and 5 ft lbs more of cr torque.

I rode a 22 yz 125 today, but unfortunately there was something wrong with it.
A horrendous low end bog..so bad that it was unrideable really. I only did 1 lap.
There is no way the stock jetting could be that far off . I couldn't really say what it was, not my bike so I didn't tinker with it.
In my one lap, I felt that it felt very tall and flat...kind of tippy and less 125 like than the old one ,but that was probably more to do with it almost cutting out in corners..
I noticed straight away that the suspension felt a lot firmer
So I have no firm opinion about the bike , would just like to ride one that is running properly and get some laps in.
Im in the market for a new 125, and Im honestly more interested in the ktm at this point...my ktm super mini is amazing so it would be great to have a 125 to go with it

Posted that totally soaked in Indiana 34-44 degrees and rain to Knoxville. Looks like it pulls hard on the hills and sounds great threw the mid into the top. A little flat off the bottom in the slower corners and 1 time landing it went flat then picked up. I would turn the air screw in a bit. If that don’t work try a richer pilot. Video looked fun.

I think the YZ85 has more HP than a late model CR125…

So 1more hp, stronger mid and top (but still runs out before the KTM up top) a little less low end than the '21. Better ride position and better hold-up from suspension. Sounds like a better starting point than the previous model but not anything earth shattering. I think a nicely set-up previous-gen is still going to be right there with it. Nice to see the updates though. Sounds like a sweet bike.

Only 1 more hp the 05+ was good for 34 so that makes it 35? The ktm is 37.5 I was hoping for a solid 36. And that it would have been stronger in the mid n top and better top end over rev.

Maybe the new engine will be better for modding?

Keefer is a very good tester he explains bikes very well. In 05 for dirt rider he tested the late arriving cr against the YZ. There similar engines the cr is quicker to pull threw the mid. The yz is easier to ride and revs out slower with a tad more over rev. Handling the cr doesn’t push or get vague where sometimes the yz can. Cr requires more clutch. I drop 1 tooth from stock gearing. Mxa says add a tooth. 05-06 depending on the mag cr makes 34.87, 35.6. A 04 cr125 makes 30.6 deck port bore carb =36.5 hp that’s all you need all tho 38 is really nice.

Short/honest answer from seat of the pants: It's only a little "faster".

However, that's not giving the new engine enough credit. With the transmission updates, new ratios, longer connecting rod/heavier crank providing improved forward inertia in motion, and Keihin carb (power jet and STIC options), there's more room for improvement than ever before. The ridability is seriously better, and it's easier to ride without as many typical ' falling off-the-pipe' Fun25 mistakes. The torque improvement is more noticeable than just the HP number (assuming MXA's numbers are spot on). Also, it will get better with finely tuned carburetion; 22' standard settings were rich off the bottom and lean up top for us at GH.

Yamaha's a big company and they wouldn't make this investment without some future-thought. For those actively racing YZ125's (think Euro-scene), the 22' platform will surely be more competitive with some R&D and time. Honestly, I'm more than happy seeing anything besides BNG on two strokes coming from Japan 👍
