Roczen SX Only?

Edited Date/Time 9/29/2021 11:05am
Just listened to the Pulp Show and Matthew (I think) mentioned Roczen might be SX Only next year. Any word of this from other sources?

Ken is 27 now and has a family, which I'm sure he'd love to spend more time with. He already has an outdoor 450 title, SX is the one that has escaped him so far. It would make sense to extend his career and focus solely on what he hasn't accomplished yet.

I was thinking that watching him in the later part of the season.
Makes sense and would hopefully prolong his career.

Hope that works out for KROC. He will be missed in MX.
I would guess it is heath related.

Dungey and Villopoto didnt like the thought of SX only in the Dungey whiskey throttle podcast.

MC was really the only one that made it work for a little. Stew didnt seem to benefit from it.

Kenny could just retire and I wouldn't blame him a bit. He doesn't owe anyone shit. But I feel like he still has plenty of fight left in the tank and some unfinished business to take care of and if he doesn't at least fight for that he might wish he had some day. Why limit himself to SX only? Keep Outdoors at least as an option that is actually one of his strongest areas.

450 SX title didn't escape from him. He lost, fair and square.

Don't know why everyone seems to think this won't happen. The guys done it before and has literally said he wants the SX title and once he gets it he would be happy to retire and spend time with his family...

It makes sense for him, other riders may not have seen a benefit in the past but with Kennys health issues I'm sure it would pay off.

Good for him! Roczen is a warrior and is probably looking to wind things down. World and National Champion...

With the beating Ken's body has had I wouldn't blame him going SX only. While it was great to have him outdoors watching him start up front then fade to 6th or 7th place wasn't fun. If it keeps him in the sport longer then that is a good thing

Roczen

Yeah, except the beatings his body has received have all taken place on Supercross tracks, so…

Sounds more like he’d rather be surfing and playing with his kid than grinding. Can’t blame him. If I had 8 figures worth of Honda money in the bank, I’d be on the same program.

Why do so many take issue with these SX only deals? I’d be all in if my employer offered me say, 75% of my current salary and only made me work half as many hours.

I would have to say things would probably look a little different without the 2 arm injuries in 17-18

Kind of a dumb post considering what this thread is about, no? I prefer outdoors to SX all day long but if Roczen does switch to SX only that just shows what’s more important to him in my opinion.

The tough guy ‘Webb owns Roczen’ talk, with the indoors only caveat, makes me laugh.
Roczen is Webb’s main competition indoors, while outdoors he completely dominates Webb. Doesn’t even look sideways when he blasts past. To date overall, it’s a fairly lopsided comparison.

If Roczen goes SX only to extend his career and give himself the best chance at the title, then good for him.
I’ll miss those days he has though, like at Unadilla this year, motocross personified!

I would say that Roczen has been Webb’s main motivation to be as good as he has in supercross and he has owned him indoors. As far as outdoors goes, roczen has owned Webb but, this is a supercross thread.
