The "450 is too fast for SX" isn't a new thing. Thats been echoed for over a decade. I would be fine with a 250 limit for SX similar to arenacross.

Yes they are to fast for sx, the thing is that a 250 is almost as fast. So i would say that four strokes have outgrown sx, not just 450’s

Endless debate on what should and could be raced. Maybe a stock/limited class and an unlimited class. Slow the machines down help in multiple ways. Makes privateers not be at an immediate disadvantage with not having a factory engine and opens up some possiblities

If you want to see another example of perfect technique Hughes is talking about, watch Jorge Prado. I’ve seen him riding entire moto’s without making any mistakes and perfect form everywhere. Lommel, Valkenswaard, Loket..

He conflicted a little bit by talking about the differences in tracks by region and how a US rider won't win in MXGP because their tracks are rougher, which is true, but then he talks about how one rider isn't better than another because of where they live. We'll call it a Ryan Hughmorism.

so... i’ve watched a lot of his videos, he is a little kooky... today i tried a moto without my Atlas neck brace (i felt naked and awkward at first) focusing on balls of my feet, and it’s all in the hips, and i’ll be damned it was good. I have always focused on the “attack position” face forward and hips rotated forward on center out of corners ... but overall it was good.

That being said, next moto i put the brace back on... just because

MX needs 125 racing to be part of the culture.

From the start of the sport till the moment Metty raced his last national on one, they were one of the best things to watch in all of moto. 125 racing needs to be featured in the sport.

At the end he T's off on Matthes. Guys gotta work it out.

Lots of stuff in this pod as he talks with strong conviction and belief. Those are all his beliefs of course so you can take it or leave it. Can respect that but don't have to agree with all the things he says.

Deano is the closest to Everts style of all the current guys.

Yeah Everts vs USA are Great races. He beat JS7 in moto 3 in 06, they had a great battle. Everts riding style and his riding in his comfort zone and beating JS7 says something about riding position. Emig vs Everts on 125,s races where intense also. I looked at my boots most of the wear is on the balls of my feet, some on arches you need to be on arches too. For getting weight back on a 125. I don’t really get the toes pointed in deal. On a 125 your constantly shifting, I ride with my foot ready on the rear brake. Being close to 6,2 is more natural to stand than sit.

Just standing on the ground...Point your toes out, bend your knees...knees naturally go out.
Point your toes in, bend your knees...knees naturally go in.

It helps you stay on the bike with no additional effort.
Oh ok Thx. I just tried that, yes there is a big difference. My lower legs are off set at a Angle to the right. Great for basketball, etc, quick and freak vertical #,s. When I toe in, it’s pretty extreme, the angle of lower leg and femur.

Amazing podcast, props to gypsy tales for posting that one because there potentially could be a lot of hate because it doesn't fit the mainstream lanes.

Loved the ending.

The Euros are always so smooth on the bike and don't just hammer the throttle out of every corner. Even watching Roczen at the outdoors a few years ago he is so smooth even with the track is not. Ryno knows his stuff good technique will get you really far and understanding how the rider works with the bike.

I have always thought that the slower the machine.... the better the racing. Mistakes are more costly and the cream truly rises to the top when HP is less of a factor. More focus on lines and not just hanging on to a rocket ship.

I can totally relate. I almost quit racing cause it wasnt fun anymore. The ego, I must be faster that this or that dude, thinking that kind of shit while riding, going faster with "balls" but not being comfortable. Fear.

Now I try. It's not easy but I try to focus on myself, slow down, focus on what I'm doing, inside elbow down, outside up, toes this, hip that, ... and not care of anything else. Like I was alone and nobody looked. The fun factor is coming back.

I'm not a big fan of the Gypsy Tales guy, and Ryno sometimes is a bit "out there" but damn he's interesting to listen to. Probably my favorite episode of GT so far.

I have enjoyed GT more and more. And Ryno is a guy that I have always liked. He's certainly his own guy but i enjoy listening to him and how he thinks. You don't have to agree with everything , but I respect him. As far as his moto teaching, I would've loved to do a class with him.

Between Ryno & Mike Grondahl podcast's

Hes hitting on some shit that our industry seems deathly afraid of talking about or even trying to change.

Clearly not afraid to speak on topics that most SX/MX insiders are afraid to discuss or bring up. Truth hurts, he is not wrong.

450's in SX no good - spot on. There was a 500cc class in SX at its inception that was quickly shelved as bikes were too much indoors. 350 premier class is where its at w/major mfgr's refusing to bring back 250 2 strokes. Took it a step further in that most mortals have no business on a 450, again not wrong.

No more Regionals for 250 class. Lets get all the best 250 riders in one class for 16 rounds. Fans deserve this. Have a regional development class. 125's would be ideal and entertaining, but will never happen. Add in exhibition 105cc etc classes.

His take on our outdoor tracks, highlighting Unadilla hits home and is on point. It was fading as a world premier track when he was in his prime and now not remotely like it used to or should be. Filling in in the start, adding foolish man made obstacles (SkyShot) and constant over grooming have ruined this once mighty track. This is happening around our countryat all National facilities and too his point shows when we go to Des Nations.

This POD left me wanting to build a super gnarly track but only using the natural terrain and 0 man made jumps.

Ryno reminds me of that one kid in college that is new to smoking weed and all the sudden thinks he’s a brilliant philosopher and won’t stop speaking nonsense... with all due respect.

The riding part was good but he's cooked. What kind of an idiot would suggest not going to a hospital after being bitten by a dog. Then he starts rambling on about don't label yourself and then says just becauae you were born a certain way doesnt make you male or female.

JT is right in saying we are all witnessing something with ryno thatbone day we'll look back and wonder why no one stopped it.

I love people like Ryno who aren’t afraid to try too hard, on or off the track, even when I disagree with their takes (eg he’s out to lunch on a lot of health stuff, but not all). I’ll never forget training with Josh Grant, Metty, and Ryno. First road bike ride I swore they had some type of electric assist on. Three months later I was throwing my 450 around like it was a 125. Dude is no joke and I’m glad he’s still around the sport.

I had to turn it off when Ryno said RC wasn’t in crazy shape and won all based on “feel”. Weird coming from a guy that got beat down by the GOAT for 30 minutes +2 for years

Keefer just did a test without knee braces given Ryno's position on braces and had some interesting feedback...you should check it out. Definitely aligns with Ryno's points about people resistant to change.

That podcast was equal parts awesome as it was cringeworthy. Ryno is an interesting cat, and I appreciate his willingness to think critically on topics he is very much an expert in. However, there is a certain hypocrisy to a man who suggests they should seek out experts to learn something from but always "go to their guru" (him/her self - eg don't seek help/advice) that is beyond words for me.

When it comes to riding, he's awesome to listen to. When it comes to everything else, I'll just say "he's entertaining".

Curious how you ride (while sitting) with your knees behind your shoulders. Or is that the point? You should be standing the whole time?

When he’s talking technique he is talking about body position while standing 99% of the time
