I ebb and flow depending on what series is happening and what I'm and the boys are up for, Vintage MX, Trials or a ride in the mountains on the 300, The Supermoto is an around town bike.
But I have noticed more people in the mountains riding and tons of SXS. The local track closed so now I have to drive quite a bit farther to the closest track but that seems pretty consistent with quite a riders on practice days but race days are not that big. I'm old and raced in Nor-Cal in the mid seventies to early eighties and we had huge turnouts back then.
Then moved to AZ and turnouts were better than now, So todays turn outs are kind of sad in comparison. I don't see MX getting any bigger,

When it comes to watching, I'd much rather watch MX/SX than GNCC coverage. But participating? Much more bang for the buck offroad.
Really love those events that use part or all of an MX track as a part of the course.
D5 tried a Grandprix series a long time ago- hour long races at mx facilities that also used trails. I think the time is right to bring that back, if we could get away from the do-or-die man-made obstacles.
Though, I hope this "resurgence" helps usher in a new generation of riders who stick around. Bigger vet races and less kids racing has not been good for the long term sustainability of the sport.

You must be talking about a different Tomac though, he's about 100k short.
I was just trying to make the point that an enduro guy, a really old one at that, is one of the most popular dirt bike riders on Social Media which is a good indicator of what people like/where their interest are. Looks to me like he's on the overall podium unless there is someone else with more than a million?
But when you're looking at averages, Jarvis is an anomaly. Billy Bolt doesn't come close, Taddy Blazusiak don't break 200K. Moto guys have way larger average followings than off-road guys.
But I think using social followers is kinda a silly metric, but if it's the one you want to use, Jarvis isn't even close to Roczen, so MX is obviously more popular.

I fully understand Moto is more "popular" and those guys have more followers, they should, they get 1000x more media exposure than off road.
I was simply trying to show that Enduro/Off Road guys have some pull too, but I should know by now this is Vital and most the hardcore bros on here are Moto only and anything not Moto is lame and not core and not bro, bro.
Personal opinion though, but for me, I just feel like there isn't any intensity to watching it. its all real stop start.

People are getting tired of being nickled and dimed by the local promoter thats “barely making it” and sitting at the track all day long for 16-22 laps (If you race two classes)
25 bucks per head through the gate just to even watch the race to see if maybe you’d like to get into it one day isn’t helping either...
I love moto and always will but what the hell?? 190 bucks for one weekend of racing is a little insane
I remember a time when the shops were putting on races FOR FREE because they knew they would sell parts and bikes on Monday.... I know that’s too much to ask in today’s world but how the hell did we get here?
However every single year since, there’s been moves, moments, battles, rivalries, championship runs, that have been nothing short of epic. If you can’t appreciate that, than maybe you’re not a hardcore fan?

Entries are one thing, popularity with a viewing audience is very much another. This distinction needs to be made.
I've never owned a 4 stroke, and have put less than 10 laps total on one since the first Yamy came out around 98'.
I've never owned or needed an mx bike with electric start.
You can't generalize or put everyone in the same box based on age. I'll do moto until I can't anymore.
I'm 5' 10" tall and 164 lbs, whats great about being in gear on the bike and on the track, nobody knows my age. And if I'm running good laps and clearing the jumps and passing, some of the younger generation doesn't feel so bad that they got schooled by me.
And that gives me piece of mind!!
