Forgot the most expensive single part...or group of parts...non-moto, but my Ladybird Ti high-Mount exhaust for my RC51...and the first time I heard it-worth every penny.

Most expensive single part? The year was 1979. The part(s) was a set of Fox Air Shox. I was on a Honda support ride and aftermarket parts were a question mark for sure. I rode those shocks for about 2 months on the less than desirable CR125. After Honda sent me a set of triple clamps to run the 21" front rim it was better... But then we bought a set of Works Performance shocks and I was much more comfortable on those. So the expensive Fox Shox helped, but in the end a less expensive part was better for me.

RG3 triple clamps for my 01 CR 250. Couldn’t really tell a difference but they looked good with titanium hardware.

WP shock on my 87 cr125. Broke the stock shock ripping whoops. Wp shock helped me win my 1st race ever, 125 expert full gate. Never won again

I ride mainly 125s- so i could spent hundreds/thousands on engine performance...
but instead i always bought suspension instead of exhausts etc.
So far i have bought:
Öhlins 46mm
Öhlins 48mm (open cartdridge)
Öhlins Schock
WP Shock
Reiger Shock
KYB SSS Fork with Reiger internals
KYB Technical Touch Shock

i use them mainly in my 2005 and newer YZ125s (46mm Öhlins is in a WR400) KYB technical Touch Shock is in a YZ250)

i would say the most impressive part is the Technical touch KYB Shock and the Reiger rear Shock.

But these parts wont help if the linkage is binding... so the most expensive part is the guy who is doing the Service to the bike

I have lost count of the money I have spent on factory suspension, unnecessary carbon fibre, titanium and magnesium castings. It's my vice and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Back in 05 I purchased a KTM 250SX Vortex ECU, unfortunatly being a squid rider i could not feel the difference between any of the settings.

Enzo setup and springs for my '01 YZ125. Pretty much a game changer, but the the absolute most effective mod was my oversize disc rotor from the same year. Back then, the stock discs were a little smaller and more touchy. The big rotor made a big difference in feel, and as you may guess, stopped my little 125 on a dime and gave me 9 cents change.

Rekluse. It didn’t make me faster but I did become more consistent which made me faster.

I’ve been holding in to a ‘76 Elsinore 125 that has the goki kit on it and knew nothing about what it was until this comment.

Factory Connection revalve and springs on my 1992 CR-250. The difference was magical.

The expense I indulge in is new tires. Yes fresh sharp knobs are like nectar from the gods. 👍👍

19.5 ktm 450 fe. MX tech lucky carbon inserts in the forks and their National shock which is basically a A-kit works style shock. The lucky inserts are awesome, the shock is unbelievable how good it is. Worth every penny.

I bought custom built KYBs for my KTM and they were pretty good but I still ended up buying Cone Valves the same year... That was an expensive season....
