I had an 02 KTM 125SX and I loved that thing. It screamed and I got the suspension good on it too. I wish I would have kept it I thought that was a good bike.

I liked my 04 250 a lot but I could never get that thing to work with the PDS. Swapped like a mofo in highspeed stuff no matter what we tried.

2001 CR 125 - brand new the right side main seal would weep. Took me a couple of months to figure out. Even after i got it fixed and finally jetted right it was slower than the 86 cr125 i had just came off of. Traded it for an 02 yz125 it was so much better i let a friend with a 01 cr125 ride the yz sold the cr right after.

2003 YZ250F - tall top heavy and i would pray it never stalled. 9 times out 10 if it stalled while hot it would not restart quickly. It was really not that good of a bike but yet the magazine's and tests from the time gushed all over it. Sold it 8 months later and got a 04 kx125 best thing i ever did. Will never own a 4 stroke again.

Yes I've ridden newer ones and I still hate the engine braking and the heavy planted feel. I'll buy an electric bike before I buy another 4 stroke.

87 YZ250

A slow and poor handling bike but more stable than the CR250 I had before it. I raced it one year and bought a 88 YZ250 which was the best bike I ever owned.

Didn’t like the 2012 YZ250f much, could never get the carb right.

I had so many crashes because of that shit on mine. Bike was fast and handled well but the bog was dangerous.

2014 KTM250SX. Head shakingest mfer I’d ever ridden in 40yrs of owning motorcycles and couldn’t figure out why. Sold it and bought a 350, lived happily ever after.

Being glad to have sold a bike doesn't mean it had to be a roach. I had an 84 CR 250 that I bought when fresh out of university. I took 3 months off and road the wheels off that bike - at least two separate sessions a day and a bunch of races. Even though I loved the bike, that year was notorious for grinding through pistons, and I ended up using all of the Honda oversize's and then moving on to YZ 250 ones (cuz they worked in the Honda jug and they had 6 more overbore options). Eventually, I ended up frying the ignition as well and the resto cost got to be too much. I had to park the bike until the next year, then got it running long enough to convince a dealer to take it on trade. I had to buy a lot more bikes from him before he would let me forget that deal...

1987 KX125 and nothing else comes close
Oh my gosh!! I had a ‘87 KX 125 that was the slowest POS I had ever ridden. I came off of a ‘86 KX 80 and it was easily faster than the ‘87 125.

Not a dirt bike, I actually have liked all of those I have owned, but riding my KTM 1190 adventurer made walking a pleasure. Electronics always on the futz, gas gauge basically guessed volume, seat got so hot you could fry an egg on it. When I finally got rid of it, the resale was akin to selling a used mattress. Brutal experience, KTM's national service manager told me, nothing was wrong with his 1190, so nothing should be wrong with mine.

It did have a badass engine, but I rode a friends Yamaha one day and it wasn’t even close in the rough stuff. I think that 02 yz125 was one of the best bikes I ever owned. That and my 05 and 07 crf450’s.

First ever CRF450 n my town. What was that, '01?

Two trips to the track, two broken vertebrae. I couldn't wait to see it gone.

I always said I’d never buy a first year bike. Then I grabbed an 04 crf250. Ate valves like no tomorrow

05 CRF 450. Hopped on the 4-stroke bandwagon like most. The power and handling were pretty good, but it was always difficult to start, even when the valves were perfect, and was super sensitive with jetting.

Sold it it 09 and got a KTM300. That bike was one of my favorites once I had the suspension figured out!

2005 KTM Adventure S. Is a great bike, but not nearly as adept off-road as I expected. Good on pavement; great on two-track, but not intended for single track.

That it was the “S” model, you had to be 6’2”, or above, to even consider it. Traded it straight across for a 2012 WR450f, of which was easy to sell.

I then went and bought a KTM Super Enduro, and that thing will eat the single-track like nobody’s business.

I changed the leak jet on mine and never had the bog issues. Seemed to make it too responsive, like a light switch.

1989 CR500R. Poor suspension and head shake like a dog with a bug in his nose.

Yes on the 89 CR. I pulled so many holeshots on mine and then prayed when entering whoops.
I had both and 88 CR250 was the worst. Followed closely by the 89’s. Fork springs rubbed particles so bad they would stick in the fork shims.
That 88 CR250 was Honda’s first attempt at a lowboy pipe low CG. Vicious head shake. I rode my buddies 88 KX250 and was faster on the first lap.
I got the 89s to work but couldn’t stand the 88.

Haven’t sold it yet, but my 2020 Beta 300 RE is by far my least favorite bike I have ever owned. The day I sell it, it will take the title for bike I’m Glad I sold. I keep trying different set ups and gearing but nothing about it works well for me. Worst suspension I have ever ridden on and I bought it thinking the forks would be the best.

For now it will be my 2014 Yz450. Didn’t get along with that bike at all.

1999 CR250, what a pile of shit that delta box frame was.

When I hear people complain about the vibration of YZ250s or the 2013-2016 KTM 2 strokes I cant help but snicker; there is nothing that vibrated worse than those enormous pieces of shit.

This, 1984 Cagiva WMX 250, 190CC non power valve Italian POS. Wouldn't turn and shook like crazy going straight. The last time I woke up from riding it I sold it for almost nothing to get it out of my life.
EDIT* Not my photo, in 84 this turd did not come with USD forks. The poor bastard that put USD fork on this bike probably thought reducing flywheel weight on a Suzuki TM400 was a a good idea.
If you get that then you're as old as I am.

2010 YZ450F. Did a lot to that bike to improve handling and never could get it right. It was a step backwards from my 2008 YZ450F.

Wasn't me per say but I remember my parents were super stoked to hock my big wheel LEM 50. I can only remember a couple of times when that thing didn't break. They bought it for me to transition to the 60. I was learning to shift on the KX60 shortly after the purchase of the LEM haha.
Mine was a 96 what was yours? Loved the bike, cobras destroyed me on long straights but the suspension and handling was much better.had 3 front wheels explode and had to put clamps on the top of forks because they were driving up through. Otherwise good bike. What year was yours
