Stanton never touched him either moto, Healey just wasn't fast enough. Period.
Sorry, I meant did they not talk about Healy giving Stanton the finger & punching him?

Most guys remember things the way they wanted it to go lol.

Half of the guys here exaggerate how good they are/were. You seriously think the median racer on these forums is a Intermediate-Pro? 🤣 some guys openly lie so hard when you can see by their profile pic they are a vet beginner rider

I could have sworn I read something about the punching incident in a magazine way back when.

Payback for Healey flipping him off in the 1st moto?

since this was the era of Bradshaw and Chicken take outs, Stanton hardly "cleaned him out" he barely touched him,

A long time ago when he was still in the Paul Mitchel school I went in to get a haircut from him and he told me the Stanton story ..... he told it pretty much the same from what I remember and he said there is a pic of stanton on the podium where he has a black eye or a fat/bloody lip.

No kidding? I feel like Stanton could handle himself as far as moto guys go. Rugged farm boy from Michigan. Everyone I've known that grew up on a farm or worked on one usually didn't fuck around

Idk why Healey comes on and it’s “That wasn’t true!” ?
Guys this is 30 years ago, I certainly don’t remember every detail of my life. I do know Mike was a badass rider and raced much of this career overseas where life was a tad more inconvenient by today’s standards.
AND the fact that he was on a KTM in the last videos against a factory Honda rider says it all.
But this is Vital MX and I’m sure a bunch of you hauled the mail on a 1991 KTM...
Thanks for doing the Show Ping, GL and Healey!

My Faded Memory. Commotion By The Ocean 2 at Carlsbad. JMB is there with DeCoster as his mechanic. (For real, Roger was washing JMB's bike that day). Mike was on his 500 I think.
First lap, Bayle super-mans over the bars on the freeway pretty much riding back from last place. Healy is out front cruising. JMB does AMAZING things on the track coming back to 2nd place. Last lap into the last bowl turn up to the finish, everyone was waiting
for the clean-out pass on Healey and it seemed like Bayle checked up and Healey won. $5,000.00 pro purse that day. Please correct me if this is off.

Bummer to lose that title by 4 points at the end for sure. Everyone just bench races about Japan, but Mike dnf’d or scored no points in 5 motos that season. Zero points both motos at the first round and then 3 more, including the first Moto at Unadilla where Staton also won and Parker finished 2nd.

Definitely a feat for KTM going through bankruptcy to be in contention for that title. They definitely didn’t have the money and resources of HRC....not like they could just send their American rider Mike Fisher over to help out Healey.

Also...going back and watching that Japan round I never realized Parker went down in the first turn that second Moto....good ride for him to come back and win that title by a few points.

Also, that is not an Astro van in the photo. More like a Caravan. Liar!

Just kidding fellas. I remember the story well but never would have guessed at the time that they were chugging beers all the way there. Guy is legendary.

2nd moto at 3.26 that,s a take out move, come on man. Mike was a cool gnarly rider. I remember reading in the cycle news at a gp. They told Mike his short sleeve jersey was illegal, Mike takes it off and throws it at the track official. We all Loved the rebel Mike, because he is 1 of us. Working on the strongest hhg rig in the world, the boss on the pa non stop saying shirts, shirts. We just ignored him, I,m getting a tan. or take your shirt of in 30 degrees for a tv interview, I,m getting chics off this was my idea. Mike raced the 125 Cagiva at the Carlsbad track, it was on wide world of sports prime time. With a stock pipe. I was paying close attention to Mike and Trampas-Chad, when they battled on 125,s in the gp,s. The tracks, the travel sounded so cool, crowds where massive. Most of my relatives r in Holland, I was 1 corner from winning my 1st race 125a, cross rut a jump big crash. but I knew I had the speed. Working at a pipeline co, to fund racing. A chic, few surgery’s derailed going to Europe. So I think Mike,s years racing is a great success and story.

Are you serious? He cleaned him out right in the middle of that second Moto... watch again.
Are you serious, Ping? They replayed in slo-mo and it's clear as day that Stanton never touched him. Healey lost the front wheel all on his own,

Agree that Stanton never touched him.

I think MH got a spooked when Stanton took the gap and lost the front end by going a little wide over the lip.

With as bad ass gnarly as Moto was back in the 90’s, I was expecting to see Stanton kick Healy in the neck while he passed him. That was clean by 2020 standards

He lied about most of his career did he? Thank God we have guys like you that were there and know the real scoop on somebody's life. The next time I see Mike I'll have to rag hmi for lying to me all these years.

I just listened to this episode on the weekend. For everyone taking shots at him and his version of history, don't forget he was pretty damn open about his issues with drugs, crime and jail. Dude has lived more in his time than most of us....

If i dont do drugs, commit crimes and go to jail then im just not living life to the fullest? Interesting take.

Healey was a badass on a bike, not denying that part. As far as the rest of his life choices, well he's just another human in that regard.
