The issue is that more people are hospitalized. ICU capacity is below 15%. That is the issue. Not enough room in hospitals.

Glad this event wasn't closed due to the great fear of 2020. Tremendously supported with over 5200 entries just a couple weeks back. Man I sure enjoy living here and having a sensible person in charge of the Sunshine State.

I posted one thing that I found funny.

One big difference is that people here know me, and some choose to follow my personal accounts. I’ve never made my social media a thing where I was trying to be any kind of social media personality, or to try to boost my followers. Those who want to see what I’m up to or are interested in what I like are free to follow along.

I don’t check anyone’s personal social media to see what their political leanings are, nor do I express mine here. I also delete all politics and religion here equally.

I just drove down Newport road in Menifee CA. City parks-Basketball court, Skatepark, Soccer Fields all lit up and business as usual. Our Riverside County Sheriff went on Insta and stated they would not enforce, looks like the city is over it too...

I suppose it looks one-sided, because one side tends to be more vocal about where they’re at. I’d suggest asking BobbyM about that, but he can’t post because of his anti-president posts, and didn’t seem inclined to stop hitting that button.

I'll expand. The first picture is the site this dude got his data from, that data was obtained thru Facebook survey, but its probably relatively accurate. The second picture is 7 day average of cases per capita from the CDC website. As you can see there is a strong correlation between more masks=less cases percapita, less masks=more cases per capita.

Based on a survey of Facebook users that’s “probably accurate.”

Super credible source there.

Thats the data that the blog guy was basing his whole theory on, his argument was that mask compliance is high and the cases keep rising so masks don't work.

I was saying that even if you assume that data is RELATIVELY accurate as I said, if you compare that mask compliance data to the cdc cases per capita data it shows that masks actually do work.

I agree with you, using a social media poll as your main source of data is stupid at best.

Comparing CDC mask / no mask data (per capita/per state) is completely irrelevant without including / measuring statewide lockdown policies.

There are a lot of confounding variables about mask effectiveness. Areas where people are more likely to wear makes, people are more likely to follow other rules that decrease the spread. You can't just correlate case counts with mask wearing. Having said that, there is a mechanism through which we know masks can prevent the spread: if you have it, and you wear a mask, you are less likely to infect people, as less droplets are spreading, and not going as far. Depending on the mask (e.g., KN95) it might also protect you from getting it as well.

Do masks totally irradiate covid? No. Are they full-proof? No. Is it a cheap and easy thing that probably helps? Yes.

The bottom line is that there are relatively painless things we can do to stop the virus from infecting so many people that our hospitals are at capacity and we have to shut down fun things like motocross races. Mainly, don't be inside with people who are not in your household, and wear a mask / limit your time when you have to (e.g., groceries). Because so many people fail to do this, we have hospitals at capacity and more lockdown. None of the measures we have done will eradicate the virus, the point is just to not kill a bunch of people needlessly, and leave many with long term issues, before we can get a vaccine in everyone.

San Antonio commissioner just closed all bars on Thursday. He goes on to say "Well, if they want to stay open, they just need to get a food permit from the City."

You sure this is about "the virus"? It's a comedy show. Of course, he says this while area schools are jam packed with kids and they're playing basketball. But have a beer after work? COVID!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those pushing for masks need to produce evidence that they are effective. Past studies regarding the flu show they do not work. A very recent study out of Denmark showed no statistical significance regarding protection to the mask wearer.

"When it comes to preventing coronavirus, public health officials have been clear: Healthy people do not need to wear a face mask to protect themselves from COVID-19. There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask,”
Fauci in March 2020.

Here, you can see positive PCR cases even after mask mandates.
https://swprs.org/face-masks-evidence/#development-of-cases-after-mask-…

"We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection."
"The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic."
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2006372

You really have to learn more about the PCR test and how it is fueling this "pandemic". The PCR test was not meant to be used in the manner it is being used and may be very inaccurate when used in this manner. If you get a positive PCR test, ask how many cycles they used. From what I understand, the test is worthless past 33 cycles. Labcorp and others are routinely using 40 or more cycles. Here is a clip of Fauci admitting as much:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_Vy6fgaBPE&feature=emb_title

So if masks offer little to no protection and we've changed our whole mantra from squash the curve so hospitals arent overrun (as they routinely are in winter months) to stop the spread, are you going to wear a mask the rest of your life or get the experimental covid 19 shot when it's out?

I haven't broken the news to my son yet, that we won't be going to A1. This whole thing is BS.

Of course it is; ATX is a great place and one of the best cities in the US and it makes Texas a better place. Also that other guy is crazy, even in bumfuck TX, people are wearing masks. Even in Midland and Odessa where sentiments towards Covid are especially low (younger population working in petroleum, politically predisposed to want everything to be open therefore skeptical of COVID) people mask up in stores and public places.

Golf courses are still open, and those guys get closer than MX riders do to each other...

Maybe the op should edit the title of this thread. Why start rumors of a track being closed when it isn't ?

Even though I wear a mask, I'm not convinced they help. I know a number of people who were very careful and always wear a mask who got covid.
Wisconsin has had a mask mandate since August, yet their infection rate is much higher than Georgia where they've been wide open since the lockdown. Remember everyone complaining about the Georgia Governor, even Trump said it was too soon.
Many saying he's going to kill people? Btw, Florida is much the same as Georgia. Wide open and low infection rate

Bottom line, I don't think we know how this damn virus spreads for sure. I just think some will get it and some won't. Until the vaccine is out it's just going to be like this. Sad but true.

Check out this study Denmark did on masks:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/18/health/coronavirus-masks-denmark.html

Btw, I had covid last week. Felt like shit for a few days , headache and stomach then lost my taste and smell Friday. Felt much better Saturday and starting getting my taste and smell back yesterday. About 90% right now
