Measuring ROI on this stuff is next to impossible, but it's more in line with their brand awareness side of the marketing department so I would say that they get what they pay for. When measured in terms of eyeballs and screen time I would think that it would pencil out quite nicely

The Geico deal was struck based on racing in front of big stadium crowds. That is highly unlikely to be the reality for the next few years, and this is one of the first shows to drop for the teams.

You also vehemently claimed that we wouldn’t see any racing in 2020 so I’m sorry if I can’t take this “reality” as anything more than conjecture, especially when you claim to know the basis of Geico’s original motivation.

Unfortunately this seems to be more of a political difference between the team and Geico.

I wonder if Geico will still sponsor the Nationals? Will we hear Weege say " Save 15% more on car or motorcycle insurance " at the 15:00 minute mark next year? Hopefully they don't leave the sport entirely.

What sucks in a weird way is the Geico ad 15 minutes into the moto is by far the best mid moto ad. They never cut away from the race, just a quick couple lines from Weege and GL. It catches on, I remember and heck even expect it each race now. Seriously all other advertisers should take note from how awesome this ad is and how well its done.

All the mid moto go pro track lap from practice make me want to never buy a go pro.

Hahahahahahahahaha

Same here I always have an eye on the time and once we past the 15 mins mark I'm like "where is weege Geico ad?" Actually I believe it was 450 Moto 2 this past race that they forgot at a to say the lines

Ask them what's up with Moto Centaur Bro- that's the weirdest ad campaign I have ever seen, and I don't see it resonating much with the motorcycling public.

I've got to say first time I saw it before they were made public I liked it. Just think how awesome it would be to be half motorcycle. I'm probably bias though. Not the worst commercials I've ever seen though.

I can't agree, good for you as you may look comfortable having your exhaust like that, otherwise mating seems non stewable.

Is this the private Honda factory in LA? Looks familiar

Honda R&D has a huge bldg up the street from me that m neighbors work at. They rebuild Indy car motors all day, every day. Frenchie from C4MX, who built the motors for the Factory Kawasaki team in Canada also works there.
They don’t get too involved in moto, but they did have the Honda 259 with twin pipes 2 years before it came out. The neighbor kid was paid to put hours on it on the weekend. He had to park in the corner and keep to himself, they had twin headers on it, but older plastics to Tru and keep it incognito

I did the HVAC at that place not to long ago in one of their dyno’s. They do full race simulations, it’s really cool to hear.

Check out Mike Grohndal's Twitter for a lot of info. Seems that Geico has made political points that he doesnt agree with and has caused distance between the two.

The way it looks to me is he is trying to make it political and Geico wants nothing to do with picking a political side from a marketing standpoint.

I guess I don't understand the context of the email?

On the review show Matthes, Weege and JT sounded very concerned this could cost some people rides if they can't find a replacement for that money.

No matter what political beliefs you may have, we all got into Motocross for the same reason...passion and love for the sport. As much as we love to see high profile (and big money) corporations come into Motocross, they enter with some power over the teams which is appropriate but often goes against our passions since some may not look at the sport the same way as others and make decisions to foster their own goals, understandably so with the money they pour in. Ultimately, politics are a part of life but seeing owners and corporations taking political stances that negatively affect the sport is disappointing.

According to the twitter rumor mill, Geico did not re-up with the NASCAR team they sponsor either. They’ve been on that car for many many years with that team.

Some additional info on Geico's relationship with Nascar. Maybe they'll at least stay on as a SX/MX series sponsor. Wink https://www.jayski.com/2020/09/01/germain-racing-considering-sale/

Sorry, but anyone that thinks businesses throw away money for the "write off" is simply ignorant to how things work.

It makes zero sense to blow $100 to avoid having to pay $20 in taxes.

If the Energy drinks give up on moto, then we will have some hard times. Just like we had after the departure of tobacco companies. But like I already told there are companies willing to spend money, only promoters of the sport drove them away. The Fly360 helmet cam (because Reed couldn't use it on the Nationals), Dodge (because they couldn't show their cars in the SX Paddock, because FELD only wanna see the "Official SX Brands there), Ignite CBD (Because Supercross only allows the official CBD-oil sponsor logo and that is CBDMD), ...

If riders and teams keep allowing this, they will end up like the UFC fighters. From a pants full of personal sponsors they went to a obligated Reebok pants where there are no logos allowed on, except the ones who are also a sponsor of UFC.

I know this may be an unpopular opinion but I don't see energy drinks being such a huge part of the sport in the next 5 years. I have no research to back this up but I can tell you that many of my friends including myself no longer purchase them at all because they became too much of an expense, taste terrible, and as you get a little older start to realize how bad they are for your health. Before you know it you need 3 energy drinks to get the same boost as you used to with 1 hence becoming more expensive and health concerns. I used to slam 2 extra strength 5 hr power shots before class until a few years later noticed my blood pressure was through the roof, gave me an upset stomach, and didn't even notice the energy boost anymore. Same with monsters, red bull, etc. Now a cup of coffee is all I need to perk up in the morning.

Just on the tip of my mind, a great sponsor would be Starbucks or Whole Foods, etc. I could be totally wrong - Just my opinion that energy drinks are fading and won't be so big in the near future.
