All that said I don't think mxsports is trying to "hide" the reason why they had to cancel the event. I am still hoping for a WW ranch race. Last years WW race was the last time I ever saw my son alive. I was really torn up when they didn't have the event. I went to Jacksonville anyway despite no race. But like you, I MF'ering hate this new world we are having to live in.

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you made the most of your time together.
Sincere good thoughts to your family.
No "new restrictions"- the track is still well inside of compliance parameters.
Track and crew have gone above and beyond to set an example for other area tracks to follow.
Races still going on at Washougal next week/weekend- conditions will be awesome.
Pro purse is at $8,000.00 and currently growing.
A lot of moving parts to this whole deal- but in my opinion, the timeframe on how all of this was handled was the really shitty part.
I'll be there next weekend. Supporting my local non-corpo racetrack.
Moving it probably makes very solid financial and logistical sense. Lots of us up here may be upset and not willing to accept the real reasoning because of our emotions, but putting out a false statement in the press release is not the right way to try to reduce that.
Just tell the truth, and stand by the reasoning.
We are all speculating what is actually going on, I will add my .02. Last week, local (Washington) news made a complete COVID mockery of what was going on at Sturgis (lots of video), painting a very large brush stroke of how awful these people are and how this is going to cause a national outbreak. Our state governor (Washougal is in WA, not OR) has been well known to knee jerk and WAY over react, especially during the pandemic which has been really unfair to those not living in Seattle and places with low infection rates (like Washougal), and he is also in an election cycle so he isn't going to let anything 'bad happen' on his watch. This is a televised event (thus the difference between the amateur races), and if you think we are going to have televised sporting events happening in WA at this moment, you are nuts. The televised mockery of Sturgis I guarantee you did not help.
We won't find anything at the local or state level that says anything about new restrictions, any new restrictions would be unwarranted. However, I am betting my tail a mix of what I noted above, our governor does not want any televised sports showing WA state taking a single remote risk, especially during the election cycle. WA, CA, OR governors have mirrored efforts and restrictions through this whole mess, I fully expect the same to happen for PALA.
That’s the point.
Just be honest, say that it isn’t worth the risk of traveling with the possibility of the event being cancelled over the next 7-10 days, and live with it. As it’s written, there will be plenty of people who take it at face value and will believe that Inslee cancelled the event, which is simply not true.
It comes off as MXSports not believing that their own reasoning was solid enough to explain so they needed a scapegoat to “blame”.
For the record, I think that they probably made a correct decision, I’m just disappointed that they published a false reason to justify that decision.
As disappointed as I am we aren't getting our race, I fully understand not wanting to have to travel coast to coast as originally planned. I 100% commend their efforts to make a series happen this year though, I was going nuts without racing to watch., It is pretty much all I watch on TV anymore.
Our state hasn’t had a problem writing restrictions, whether we are happy with them or not.
There were no new restrictions enacted during the time frame alluded to in the press release.
Our Chamber of Commerce alone puts out updates every time there is a hint of a revision, and there were none mentioned during that time frame. A google search doesn’t turn up any revisions either.
It’s simply disappointing to see an organization that you like spread an untruth like this.

No speculating going on around here.
Either way, we will never know. Davey can either say "Yeah, we later realized how much of a pain in the ass that race would be so we canned it, even on a shortened schedule" Or alternatively, "that state is run by nuts.. When they realized a large scale sporting even was going to be televised from their state during a pandemic and election cycle, they freaked out and told us to cancel it". We have two options, none of which would be wise to disclose.
I may be wrong, we will probably never know. As I said in my original post, we are all just speculating while upset about it, this is just my theory and I trust Davey.
This isn’t a political discussion involving Inslee, it’s a discussion about canceling a race and using a reason that doesn’t seem to hold up to even basic scrutiny.
Unless someone wants to provide what “new restrictions” were imposed from the morning they were talking about until the afternoon.
Let’s face it, this excuse was used because they didn’t think that they could explain the real reasoning to folks who wouldn’t want to hear their logic. It was just easier to find a scapegoat to “blame” it on.
West Virginia has managed the pandemic well and Chad has been able to get permits for big races, including a wildly popular LL Regional this year. When he's been tasked with pulling off a big race he's come thru..
Not to late to get something scheduled there.
The fact that we're still racing this coming weekend- with a ton of entries and a $9000.00 (and growing) pro purse speaks VOLUMES about these "new sanctions/regulations"
That track is dialed in with one- way tunnels, marked parking and extensive signage everywhere- not to mention no contact registration as well as temp. checks upon entering the facility.
All staff is required to wear masks when riding in buggies or in close contact.
We were all more than ready to go racing.
Still going to.
