Have any of you filed the stock foot pegs to sharpen them up a bit and get a better bite on the boot? Seems like it would work great and save money.

Also looking for the best handguards/brush guards to help protect my levers and what not, are the cycra pro bend still the go to?

I cannot find any radiator fans for our bike.

I bought the W.C R.I.M.S skidplate, and want to get some radiator braces and a few other little pieces to really protect this lean green machine.

I did. Works great. Eventually I'll be upgrading though.

Filing your stock pegs will wear your boot soles considerably faster than aftermarket pegs (such as raptor or pro pegs, which I feel are the best on the market) because the stock pegs have less teeth to disperse the weight.

Good to know. Too late now ha!

So would you guys rather run a high pressure rad cap with a boyesen supercooler, or should I try out the universal fan kit? The fan kit will tell you what temp your coolant is and allows you to adjust what temp the fans kick on. I really like that... I know of caps having a temp readout as well I believe it was tusk brand. But I also read that using a high pressure radiator cap on a cooling system designed for much lower pressures will put the radiator hoses, head gasket and radiator at risk of rupturing under higher internal pressures. Unsure of the statistics behind that statement, but I did read it. That's what guided me towards the fans... Thoughts?

I been racing my KX all summer with no problem. Have you overheated your bike under race conditions, or are you trying to fix a problem you’ve never even had?
Just because you got the bike too hot by idling on a stand doesn’t mean you have a problem. Just stop idling it on a stand. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Went with the Keefer ignition settings. They worked great for the first 1/4 throttle.

Anyone have any other settings to try?

I’ve always thought the universal fan kits are pretty janky, so I went with a boysesen water pump, 1.4 cap, and engine ice. It’s not perfect. I’ve had a few situations where I’ve lost coolant on hot days in deep sand or in some tight woods, but nothing concerning. I’ve done all 8 gncc and have never gotten it down to the fins in one of those races.

Mine never overheats. I have the stock cap. I've riden in 100° heat. These bikes don't run hot.

Same here. But its always like that someone reads something in a shootout and then believes its a problem ☺️

No overheating here. Don't idle the bike on the stand for more than a minute or so or it will get hot with no airflow.

Losing a little coolant from full level is normal. I've only had my level drop below the top of the fins once when there was a problem with the race gate so they held us slipping our clutches for like 30 seconds lol

To clarify, no, my bike isn't overheating!

I was simply just trying to reduce my coolant temps before even putting hours on it to help the longevity of my new bike without changing everything, which is why I keep bringing up the stupid fans lol. Nothing to do with Kawasaki, or my bike, just my preventative maintenance way of thinking.

The universal fan kit isn't the best quality so I am probably going to leave it bone stock other than armor for it, not even an exhaust, and just ride the damn thing. Cheers!

I would get the supercooler kit before the radiator fan. Extra weight and one more thing to break that you don’t need imo. I go with the 1.4 cap and the supercooler kit and no issues at 60 hours of abuse

Well I rode my 2020 KX450 at Glen Helen today. I have spent a few weekends on the Varner CR250. I also rode my buddies 2018 CRF450. Rode all 3 today. It reiterates how good the KX is. I really enjoy how easy and stable this model KX is to ride. Great bike. no issues.

I’m with you
I am running the pro circuit pump, cover and a 1.6 cap
Never an issue and I am riding in 100 degree heat in the Central Valley.

Does anyone have the torque specs for the head bolts and cam caps? Cant find Them in the manual.

I believed it used to be 49nm for the head and 9,8 nm for the cam cap but not sure om the 19 model.
81,1 hours and first top end.

Hey guys. I want to make my kx450 faster. It seems to lack a little on the bottom end. I wanted to get the best engine mods available if anyone has suggestions. I want to do head work, teflon cylinder, 14 1CP piston and polish the transmission. I want to tune it after as well. Is there anything else I can do? I did this to my 12 Honda and it was an amazing bike. I want that feeling again

I’ll say the obvious.......mapping should be first. Have the bike mapped for VP Pro and use this gas. Cheapest, most cost effective mod.

I have a pro circuit piston, ported head by TLR, Rekluse Torq Drive clutch, t4 fuel, Pc pipe, and a vortex ecu. That being said when I used the stock Vortex maps set to the most power it was only 58 hp... then I had TLR dyno tune my bike and make a custom map which resulted in 63.5 hp. When I built mine there wasn’t as many options available. Next top end I’m going to add a Carrillo rod and piston, maybe a polished transmission. The bike is a handful and I’m running 14/51 gearing which makes it a little smoother down low but pull forever. When I had the stock gearing it hit so hard with my engine.

I’ve already tuned it with Livingood motorsports and use VPR and have a yosh exhaust. It went from 53 hp to 56. Still seems a little slow. I am going to try gearing next. And loosing weight.

Wondering the same thing...the only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the gaskets? I’m interested in hearing the answer.

That polished transmission would be awesome to have. I’m too dumb and slow to need any real engine mods. Pipe, Hinson clutch, and T4 are way more than enough for me in the engine department.

I haven’t unfortunately. Been busy with a lot of things lately. Want to get out soon. Was going to ride tomorrow, but weather might not be good. I at least plan to install in the bike this weekend lol.

I sent the cylinder out with the CP piston and the Teflon coat the cylinder walls. Kind how they do it on some pistons. When I did all that on my older Honda it hit the rev limiter so fast. It was an awesome motor.

Just installed it. Now I need to ride it! I will say this, Pro Circuit seems to be more reasonable on pricing than Factory Connection.
