2 full hours on the 2020 KX450. Really awesome bike, best dirt bike ive had in a decade and those were all kawis! Any input on fork spring change out?.. Break in went great. Forks seem ok I can see how they are a touch soft. Im a decent +40 B rider.. 200 lbs 6 ft weekend warrior. Is the best fix the one .53 spring keep one stock .51 rate? or do you replace with two .52 springs? Oil add 5cc oil over stock measurement and see how it feels?

I’m 6’3” and 215 w/o gear. Vet B MX. I run 2 .53 springs. Didn’t mess with the oil level. I’m very happy with the suspension performance. As tall and heavy as you are, you will likely benefit from a stiffer shock spring. I’m running a 6.1. I came up with the spring rates after talking to Factory Connection. It works great and I have no plans to revalve.
thanks for the input!! think im leaning toward some spring changes only as well. Bike is really really good.. im prob 200 with gear maybe 205 lbs..happy i have a bike that does not require revalving!

Blew out a fork seal last week so I went with SKF dust and fork seals in both sides. I measured the oil that came out of the fork that wasn't leaking.... about 250cc from the factory.

On another note... what plastic skid plates are out there with full protection to cover the frame rails as well? 14 hours on my bike and the bottom of the frame has a nice dent in it already.

Another option is from Pro Carbon in the UK. Nice workmanship, covers everything but is very light. Even shipping from across the pond, I think ai had it in hand in maybe a week and a half.

I'm 6' 160 lbs I thought the forks were to soft and with both springs it was better but a little stiff for me. I had PC set mine up and they used stock fork springs 350cc of oil and I have an a kit shock with a 5.4kg shock spring. The bike is awesome after PC set it up I was struggling before, set up for a mx.

I agree. I went with (2) 5.2 springs at 310cc...I was maybe 203 lbs with gear....was good but on the stiff side giving up some plushness. I lost some weight and dropped back to (1) 5.2 spring ...running the 310cc and will make adjustments with clickers and oil.

Read my rates. Quite a bit higher than what you are mentioning.

I bought the TM designs plastic skid plate at the same time I got my Slide and Guide kit. I’m extremely happy with everything I’ve ever purchased from TM Designs. It is a crazy high density plastic that lasts forever.

You should be your heavier than i. I guess my point was I'm surprised so many have gotten it to work so well, I feel like they're valved too soft.

Getting the spring rate correct is key. Call Factory Connection. Their spring rate recommendation was quite a bit stiffer than what the Race Tech calculator called for, and I’m very pleased. There were 1200 entries at Lincoln Trail last weekend, and as rough as it got, I was extremely pleased.

Anyone have tips on how to adjust the sag with that stock preload collar?? My buddy just pick up a 2020 and want to do the sag tomorrow at the track but doesn’t look like there is an easy way to access that bolt to loosen the collar?

The first time it's a pain but once you get in there and loosen it you can spin it to a better spot when you tighten it.

I’ve got 40 hours or so on my bike. The suspension is starting to feel pretty smoked. Need to get a full rebuild minimum and maybe do a revalve while I’m at it. Factory connection would probably be easiest. Also talked to pro circuit. Any experience with either of these two or any others on the 2019-20 kx 450?

I’ll be getting mine back from FC in a day or so. I’m 185, and a vet c/b rider, and surprisingly, I didn’t need springs. Will post some feedback when I get some time on them.

I send all my stuff to them. Had nothing but good experiences with them.

Is there a source for retro seat covers for current kxf's? Looking for a 93 graphics/seat cover replica. Thanks for your help.

I’m really looking to do this Emig replica, but can’t find anyplace that can even come close on matching the purples for the seat and graphics. I don’t care if the actual purples aren’t the same as the Emig bike, but want them to match for the seat and graphics.

I think https://www.sdg-innovations.com/ may be another option.

Anyone else has this problem yet?? Lower subframe bolt. Had the torque wrench on it, 26 lb ft. Helicoil inside the actual frame stripped out. Had to
drill the frame out and put a bolt and nut on it. Not impressed....

No problem, bit is it really a helicoil stock? Seems weird. Why not replace the helicoil?

Have a long weekend of riding ahead and felt this was a better, safer fix. Just shocked that they went with such a cheap design. First time I've had it off, couldn't believe it. I could have replaced it but I didn't feel confident it would hold.
