I have only fond memories of Varner. Here's one from 23 yrs ago...he took us fishing out of Redondo for the day.

Brent Myron can be seen sitting inside, James on the left - (he worked in Engine department grinding cylinders) Terry was in his prime. I took the pic.

The bottom half of the photo is Graeme Brough and his son Adam. Good times and fond memories.

James is an old mate of mine from that Era. I bumped into him at the Glen Helen national about 3 or 4 years ago

Well shit, he took someone on a boat ride. That changes everything! TS should give him another year to finish up!

My experience with Tom Morgan Racing was completely opposite of your experience with Varner. Tom provided excellent service, communication, and turn around time. My cylinder even came back with jetting recommendations. He told me I could call him if I needed anything.
How does your sweet cr125 run Like now? Just porting or stroker crank also? I had a 04 cylinder replated and exhaust bridge welded up, from Millinium technology’s . Some other shop screwed up the plating, Mt did a great job. Chamfering the ports, was perfect. I think Tom and Mt work together somehow. Tom,s shop in Wisconsin is near Road America track, very scenic area. Kareem Abdul jabar the center for the Bucks, used to ride his Harley in that area, in the 70,s. Smile

I’d be willing to bet Boomslang is the reason Terry reached out to the OP. Nobody mentioned that. Imagine that. So what if he had good memories of his friend? If they weren’t friends I imagine the op wouldn’t have heard anything.

Ups Lost my complete engine for 7 months, they found it in there warehouse. The engine rolled out of my van and hit the concrete . Cracked the cases when I shipped it. The whole deal started out bad.

I lost contact with James years ago and it'll awesome to see him again. I cant even remember his last name. Please PM me if you have any info. I can maybe look him up on facebook.

Here's a old one....james and myself hanging out.

It runs great. I opted for the 134cc big bore and “more top end” port job. It really screams on top. It’s still down some horsepower to a ktm, but it’s a blast to ride. This bike has 2006 crf450 shock and forks.

The latest update is no. I’m still waiting and initially was told everything was to be shipped last Wednesday. Still hasn’t been shipped however he has been in contact with me almost everyday telling me he spent a bit more time on my stuff to make sure it was absolutely perfect and then he said he really wanted to bore out the carb on the yz125 free of charge because he was getting really good results with his cylinder work. I asked him to please have it put the door Monday/Tuesday and was very stern about it so hopefully we get something early this week. That’s only my 2 yamaha engines though he’ll still have my cr125 cylinder there. He asked me multiple times to take down this thread but I refuse to for the fact of sharing my experience but I also want to have a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for someone else and share how the engines actually run when I get them back too. The weather has been really nice at home now and everyone has started riding so I’m just so antsy to get out there already and I really hope my cr125 parts aren’t going to be far behind also.
Any chance you received your stuff back yet?

Sorry guys for not getting back sooner, I do Cerakote and motorcycle services on the side for extra cash and it’s been super busy I barely keep up with the Cerakote work right now! So update is he sent me a picture of a box with my address and a tracking number. It’s still in California as far as I know but it’s definitely on its way, well I hope. He was in good contact last week and although kept buying himself time finally got around to shipping my YZ125 and YZ250 cylinders I believe. I know for sure my CR125 cylinder is still there and I’ve been trying to call him this week to keep him on his toes about getting that done ASAP. Hasn’t answered the phone yet again this week but I’ll keep trying. When and/or if the Yamaha stuff gets home I’ll confirm with a picture. I’m just jonesin’ to get riding with this nice weather we’ve been getting I hope I’m near the end of the tunnel on this.

Here’s some of my Cerakote work just for show n tell. I’m building myself a 2018 YZ250 to show of my work and all it needs is the damn cylinder so hopefully soon!

Not trying to pawn off work either just to clarify, I just wanted to include something more positive. This whole Varner thing has been so stressful and I’ve lost sleep over it I figured I could show something enlightening until my parts show up.

Nothing wrong with doing something you enjoy to keep yourself distracted. Thanks for sharing. Looks awesome.

Hey there, I’m wondering if anyone in So-Cal could help me out here. I’m from Canada and I sent Varner 3 cylinders/heads a few months ago along with the money upfront to do the work (big mistake I know), and now I can’t get a hold of him and with everything going on in our world I just want my engine parts back. I’ve been trying him for weeks and can’t get a hold of him. I have gotten two or three short responses via text that states I’ll have them soon, but ‘soon’ started a couple months ago. I really don’t know what to do. Does anyone know if he’s actually around and if this is a common issue? I was told 20 day turn around on these parts and he’s honestly been a real asshole to deal with. I wish I could just go there myself and deal with it in person. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I'm going to post here too. Brandon contacted me on IG because he saw I have problems with Terry Varner too.

He has had my motor for 68 WEEKS. That's correct. 68 WEEKS. I too paid up front.

This was supposed to be my "retirement treat" A motor done by a pro. Something I couldn't afford as a kid. The first delay started when he said it was Supercross season and my motor was pushed back. It went on and on. Then he went dark. Wouldn't answer the phone. But would answer if I called on a different phone. On and on. Always excuses. It just goes on and on.

I contacted pro's who used his motors, industry people, trying to get help. TWO answered me. Some people raved about his motor and what a good guy he is. But offered no help.

I called the police to see if he was even open. They went and checked. Spoke to him. He told them he'd call me. Didn't.

I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. Nothing.

I did a Facebook post that apparently lit him up. He called and told me "I'll get it done. Please take down the post". So I did. That was 4 MONTHS AGO!!!!!

He even admits to doing other peoples motors ahead of mine. Then will say I'll get right back to yours. Will not give a straight answer about when I'll get it. Just that "I'll love it".

I missed a whole season of racing because of this.

He's sent a couple up date pics. But he could just finish it and be done with all this aggravation.

Varner’s legacy seems to be getting tarnished.
A recent podcast by Matthes had one of the FMF factory CR125 riders in 98 getting his motor done elsewhere, as Varner’s bikes were dogs.

With this virus and economic issues, right now most seem caught up and slower then usual. Seems way off, this one does.

IDK about 98, but just last yr. he had an 02 CR125 engine singing pretty good against more than likely 2019 factory KTM 150SX's. #24 gave those orange bikes all they could handle & I believe finished 2nd in the smaller displacement class..
That CR engine is considered to be one of the worst tiddler engines by the Vitard experts..

Starts about the 3:59 mark..

Kowalczyk759 and I are going through the same thing. Nothing against him. He got two cylinders back and I'm still waiting on my complete motor. 69 weeks now for me.

Yeah so I managed to get my YZ125 and YZ250 cylinders back. Got the 250 back together as of now but first break in ride I had Enzo revalve the suspension and something in the forks failed and they barely hold the bikes own weight up. So I’ve been dealing with that this past week. I wanted to come back with pictures and a review for everyone but I haven’t gotten the bike to a good track yet.

The work and craftsmen ship looked pretty good. Nothing crazy but a very clean job, just not 4 months worth of waiting. Once I get my forks fixed and get my 125 also back together I’ll have some better reviews.

Another Terry downfall though is he still has my CR125 cylinder and he’s still very hit and miss answering the phone and never very straight forward with the answers. A month ago it was to my understanding it came back from the platers (big boring to a 134), then 2 weeks ago he said he was going to use a cylinder he had at the shop ready to go instead, the final word I got was this week I was told the cylinder was being sent to Powerseal USA for the boring which he told me he always used Millenium? It’s such a hassle dealing with this I’ve been trying to keep him on his toes to get this CR cylinder done too but I really can’t understand what stage it’s at and anytime I ask him about it his answers are so vague and not reassuring at all.

Someone literally needs to go punch this guy in the face for what he is doing to people. Who does he think he is? I hate this kinda stuff happening.
