I'm told this is likely happening. If so, I'll probably be renting a Prius and driving the 20 hours to Phoenix and at least staying for 2 weekends of it if I do. No airplanes for me. I'm hoping those are the doubleheader weekends.

I've always thought social distancing at a SX could be done pretty easily with an empty stadium depending on the number of people allowed. I've taken this whole deal pretty seriously, but SX is definitely one of the sports where you can pull it off without too much worry of spreading Covid-19 if everyone is smart about it. With no fans, you have the whole parking lot to spread out the pits and you can very safely spread out staff inside the facility. Whether I get down there or not, this is going to be wild to see.

Like you'all. I'm praying this happens. First, to get the fuck out of the house and watch some racing. Also, to witness a race without fans. Most importantly, though, for the growth of the sport. This could be big for the growth of the sport to get on National TV [assuming the main NBC Station] when 4 million people are watching video game SIM Nascar races because there's no other racing.
You're not gonna be allowed to go. It's going to be a very limited amount of people in. We're gonna find out who the best natural rider is from this point on. With each guy only having 1 mechanic and limited resources its gonna level the playing field a bit.

This is a really good point. Why not switch things up and build a Supercross track outdoors in an area that allows elevation changes? Renting a stadium designed to hold thousand of spectators sounds like a waste of money at this point.

It does sound stupid to rent a stadium and smart ... the built in infrastructure is the only plus, however it's a huge plus.

What happens if Cooper, Eli or Ken test positive for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic? Would they still be allowed to race?

No way. I’m also curious if Kenny risks it, given how serious he takes his immune system / health.

MotoGP has told riders and teams that they have a tentative plan for races this year, and it’s a skeleton crew at best. Only riders and teams allowed, plus Dorna staff to run the TV cameras and their in-house photographers. No hospitality, no sponsors, no media.

When Feld was trying to race that weekend at Indy, it was going to be limited to just those of us with seasonal hard cards, no one else.

If this is an actual possibility, and trust me I hope it is, the ripple effects of who gets to come and how is going to be a very interesting discussion.

Because its ridiculously cheap to rent right now, because there is hardly any other type of event that can be held in there for $$. Its a great venue for SX. Its indoor, weather won't be an issue, its a LARGE space for SX, they can run AC if its too hot, etc. Right now, arenas are dying to get anything for business. I'd bet its super cheap.

Okay so there's a vaccine. Are they going to mandate a vaccine? Are you going to receive this mandated vaccine? Me? Uh, no.

Our governor in az is also talking about hosting every MLB team since we have the facilities to do so. I know Florida is talking about doing the same. The nice thing about Arizona is it’s cheaper to operate than most major cities. We are built out so much further than any other big city. Phoenix is the largest county in the country in terms of mileage. I feel like our grasp on the pandemic has been

It will be interesting to see if there will be a special nbc package for this or if it’ll just be the normal sx package, also wondering if they will switch the sx format to something different or keep it the standard format. Hopeful this goes down safely for everyone I miss it bad!

No way. That also presents problems as the tests have been giving out both false negatives and false positives. They could end up parking a guy who doesn't really have it.

How do you legitimately crown a champion if you limit their participation? A rider is going to miss 2 or 3 rounds if they test positive. From a health and competition standpoint, I just don’t see how this happens personally...

If I had to guess...
And...IF...Feld can pull this off...
Supercross will be one of the 1st Live Sporting Events on TV; therefore, I could see them running it LIVE on NBC.

But, I could be worng.

I'm told it will likely be "Hard Card Press Corps" only.. Which I fit.

But you're right, there's a good chance they'll limit it even further. I'll be okay either way.

That is an awfully big stadium, couldn't they social distance fans? Every second section sits empty and 6 feet between each seat. Let people bring in their own booze/food. That would not be any different from the social distancing you see on the daily out and about. Could probably still get a good enough number of people to create an atmosphere for the riders and for TV. I think at some point we need to start to integrate people again and if the numbers are low, be smart and lets get on with it. Keep the teams/feld personnel separated.

Either way it would sure be nice to see a conclusion to this series before the snow flies!!

I'd go, but no chance there will be any fans there. I just hope they allow enough media to produce a quality TV event. And yes, an NBC prime time sporting event live would draw record number of viewers in my opinion. Let's RACE!

I sincerely hope they find a way... Sending a note to our governor right now. Wink

I will go to all 7 rounds if they let fans in. I'll wear a mask, gloves, tyvek suit, you name it. May look stupid, but I'll go and cheer my ass off.
